The curriculum provides students the opportunity to be exposed to a wide array of criminal justice topics in the classroom, as well to gain experience in the field of criminal justice through internship opportunities. Students may choose a concentration in Law Enforcement or Pre-Law.
PROGRAM OBJECTIVES COMMUNICATION Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, and demonstrate basic knowledge of foundational concepts of criminal justice practice and research.
ANALYSIS Analyze the major historical and present-day issues facing the criminal justice system, including events, information, programs, policies, and concepts that affect the operation of criminal justice agencies and individual practitioners.
EVALUATION Evaluate the nature, causation, and prevention of crime, including the ability to apply the relevant major criminological theories.
EXPLANATION Explain the inter-dependent nature and functions of the major components of the American criminal justice system, including law enforcement, courts, and correctional agencies, as well as the effects of these relationships on victims, offenders, criminal justice professionals, and society.
APPLICATION Apply the philosophy, theories, and principles of substantive and procedural criminal law that regulate and govern the criminal justice system.
DEMONSTRATION Demonstrate an understanding of the ways in which Christian ethics and a Biblical worldview can impact the conduct of criminal justice professionals.
