GOODWOOD,
2015 For The Duke Of Richmond
Goodwood felt like a natural home for Jeremy’s work. At his West Sussex estate, The Duke of Richmond hosts events that marry sports, tradition, and classic British style. In 2015, the Duke commissioned Jeremy to depict three events: the Festival of Speed, a hill climb featuring historic and modern cars that attracts 150,000 daily spectators; Goodwood Revival, which celebrates the golden age of motor-racing with a race of classic cars from the 1950s and 60s; and Glorious Goodwood, one of the highlights of the horseracing calendar.

“Nowhere is more glamorous and high octane than Goodwood,” says Jeremy. “Where else can you see cars worth literally millions of pounds being raced around the track like go-karts?”. Goodwood is all about celebrating the past, and spectators join in the fun by donning period dress, creating ample opportunities for scenes of timeless glamour. “I wanted to have the feeling with the paintings that you couldn’t pin a date on it – did this happen yesterday, or was it a few decades ago?”
