Dearest TFO Family, Welcome to the 11th season of the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra! We are delighted that you’ve decided to spend these very special two weeks with us as we perform our favorite music in Branson and Hollister. As you peruse this program book, you will find lots of wonderful information about our musicians and music. We hope you enjoy learning about this amazing orchestra. We have an incredible Festival lined up for you, and we hope to see you at as many concerts as possible! We also encourage you to visit our merchandise table to check out all the great ways you can support your Taneycomo Festival Orchestra. We have many volunteer opportunities as well as donation levels, and all funds raised provide travel reimbursement to the musicians who are donating their time and talents to this organization. After all, the TFO wouldn’t be possible without your contributions! We also have fabulous t-shirts and CDs designed by our flutist-designer-photographer-extraordinaire, Steven Smith! Larkin Sanders

EXECUTIVE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Meet the Staff Dr. Larkin Sanders is a native of Branson, Missouri, and currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri where she is the clarinet instructor at Washburn University, owns the Clever Clarinetist (a clarinet specialty store), is the Executive-Artistic Director of the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, and is an active performer. As a chamber music and entrepreneurship specialist, she manages and performs with Porch Music KC, the Bluestem Faculty Quintet at Washburn University, and more. In addition to a variety of chamber ensembles, she also performs with the Springfield Symphony and other regional orchestras. Dr. Sanders serves on several nonprofit boards such as the American Single Reed Summit (Vice President) and Charlotte House Series. Dr. Sanders is endorsed as an Artist by Henri Selmer Paris, D’Addario & Co., Silverstein Works, and Brian Corbin Clarinet Products.

In addition to her activities as a clarinetist, teacher, and administrator, Dr. Sanders is also a composer and author who has a fondness for songs and unique chamber ensembles. Larkin has had her works performed in a variety of settings. Her works are inspired by the talents of her friends and colleagues, and the genres of her works span from chamber operettas, art songs, children’s music, and more. She is also the author of The Creation of the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra: The Performer’s Field Guide to Music Festival Foundation and The Clever Clarinetist’s Daily Scale Method: Scales and Exercises for Everyday Use, used by The Florida State University and other studios as their official fundamental method. Dr. Sanders completed her Doctor of Music degree in clarinet performance and a certificate in arts administration at Florida State University in 2015. At FSU, she studied clarinet with Dr. Frank Kowalsky and Dr. Deborah Bish while teaching a course in clarinet fundamentals for first-year undergraduate students. Larkin also holds a master of music degree from Michigan State University where she studied clarinet with Dr. Justin O’Dell and composition with Dr. Ricardo Lorenz. Previously, she earned her bachelor of arts degree from the University of Kansas while studying clarinet with Dr. Stephanie Zelnick and Dr. Larry Maxey. In addition to her exciting musical activities, Dr. Sanders is an aquatic enthusiast who enjoys sailing and scuba diving, and she is an avid craftswoman who enjoys graphic design, sewing, furniture rehab, and other creative adventures. In her free time, she enjoys creating things, going on adventures, reading, and spending time with her family & friends, her Norwegian forest cat, Miles, and her dogs, Miko and Dopey.

Born and raised in Stuttgart, Arkansas, Patti Sanders graduated from the University of Arkansas with a degree in Marketing. Her husband, Sandy, is a drummer and professor of English; daughter, Dr. Larkin Sanders, is a free lance musician in Kansas City; and son, Hart, is an architect in Seattle with Olson Kundig Architects. The Sanders family has resided in Branson since 1992. Patti is the Mama of the orchestra. She’s always looking for housing, food and funds. When she’s not playing orchestra Mama, she’s playing with the neighborhood kids, sailing with Sandy or walking Rufus, her sweet English Cocker Spaniel. Help her when you can.

Jarrett Bastow is a professional bassist based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is a Section Bassist for the Tulsa Symphony, Assistant Principal Bass of Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Bass for Symphony of Northwest Arkansas. Currently, he is the Adjunct Bass Instructor at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and Adjunct Instructor of Low Strings at Northwest Arkansas Community College, and a Teaching Artist for Harmony Project Tulsa. Jarrett received his Bachelor and Master of Music in Double Bass Performance from Ithaca College and Northwestern University respectively. Jarrett is also a Master of Arts Leadership & Cultural Management from Colorado State University. His certifications include a Graduate Certificate in Change Management from Cornell University and a Certificate in Grant Proposal Writing from Fort Hays State University. This is Jarrett’s first year playing with and serving as Orchestra Manager with TFO! Abigail Brower is an ensemble and solo artist currently based in Eastern Iowa. A graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, she performed regularly with university orchestras and other ensembles while maintaining an active gig schedule and competing in area instrumental competitions. During and immediately following her undergraduate degree she performed with Southern Indiana area ensembles and taught private lessons for students of all ages. She will be graduating in August 2022 with a Master of Science in Performing Arts Leadership and Management from Shenandoah University.

Roshelle Pekarek is a versatile musician with over a decade of teaching and performing experience. She holds a B.M. in Violin Performance from Missouri State University and plays professionally with the Springfield Symphony and Porch Music KC, a pandemicinspired ensemble. Though classically trained, Roshelle keeps an open ear to beauty of all types of music and enjoys diversity in her musical life, investing in music projects ranging from rock bands to string quartets. Additionally, she has taken on projects as a session studio musician, coordinating ensembles for weddings, and arranging/ transcribing pieces for string ensemble. This is her third season playing in TFO and first year as Marketing Manager.

Steven Smith is originally from Branson, MO and currently resides in Springfield, MO where he is an adjunct instructor in the Graphic Design and Technology Department at Ozarks Technical Community College. He is also a graphic designer for a local advertising agency. Steven graduated from Drury University where he received a B.S. in Graphic Design. As a musician, Steven plays contrabass clarinet with the Missouri State University Community Band where he has been a member for the last 11 years, as well as Pinnacle Winds in Kansas City for their 2022 season. This year also makes his 11th season playing flute with the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra. In addition to being a founding member of TFO, Steven has also been the graphic designer for the orchestra over the last eight years, as well as TFO’s very own photographer, when he isn’t playing of course.

Joe Peters

MUSIC DIRECTOR

Minnesota native Joseph Peters, Associate Principal Oboe and English horn with the North Carolina Symphony, previously held Principal Oboe chairs with the Minnesota Orchestra and Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. He has performed as guest principal with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, The Florida Orchestra, and the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, and he has also played with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Marlboro Music Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, Lakes Area Music Festival, National Repertory Orchestra and the National Orchestral Institute. For three years he was a member of the New World Symphony in Florida. Peters first appeared with the Minnesota Orchestra at age 18 as a finalist in the Minnesota Idol competition, performing Mozart’s Oboe Concerto. As a soloist, he has also appeared with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, New World Symphony, Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Saint Paul Civic Symphony, Wayzata Symphony Orchestra, and the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, of which he is an alumnus.

In addition to TFO, Peters has been music director of the SUNY Buffalo State Philharmonia Orchestra and the Saybrook College Orchestra of Yale. He frequently conducts the North Carolina Symphony, leading many of their education and Holiday Pops concerts, and he has conducted a variety of programs at the New World Symphony, including a collaboration with the Miami City Ballet. His conducting mentors include Michael Tilson Thomas, James Patrick Miller and Toshiyuki Shimada. Peters has been on the oboe or conducting faculty of various institutions including the SoBe Institute of the Arts, National Youth Orchestra of the USA, SUNY Buffalo State, and has conducted side-by-side concerts for New World Symphony’s MusicLab program. An advocate of contemporary music, he premiered Aaron Jay Kernis’ On Distant Shores with New York’s RIOULT Dance Company, and he has been involved in numerous other premieres by composers including Jocelyn Hagen and Samuel Carl Adams. Peters received a bachelor of music degree from the University of Minnesota and a master of music from Yale University. His teachers include Stephen Taylor, John Snow, Julie Madura and Marilyn Zupnik.

Violin

A native of Bowling Green, OH, Gina Buzzelli is a freelance musician based in Northwest Ohio. Gina holds degrees in violin performance from Ball State University and the University of Northern Colorado. During the summers she has participated in numerous festivals such as the National Repertory Orchestra, Round Top Festival Institute, Eastern Music Festival, and the International Lyric Academy Opera Festival in Viterbo, Italy. In addition to being classically trained, Gina has pursued other genres participating in jazz ensembles at both BSU and the UNC and is a founding member of the All Angles Orchestra and Dynamix String Quartet. Nick Curry works as an attorney in the health care practice group at the Boston office of an international law firm, but before he turned to a life of law, he was a doctoral candidate in music theory. In that past life, his research focused on early French Neoclassicism as well as media and technology studies approaches to recent pop music. Now, his research usually focuses on either state health care regulation or how to avoid killing the many houseplants he acquired out of mid-pandemic delirium. This is his eighth season at TFO.

Tim Daucher has been fortunate to have studied with Carlton Herrett, National Symphony Orchestra, Lynn Priece, Air Force Strings, Jody Gatwood, Catholic University, Laura Boyd and Kenneth Sarch, Shenandoah College and Conservatory, Dennis Powowraski, National Symphony Orchestra (Summer studies) and David Hays, Missouri State University. I began my orchestra career as a sub during the last two years of my undergrad with the Maryland Symphony under the direction of Barry Tuckwell. Performing with the TFO has been on of the best experiences in my music career. Gus Fernandez Agreda is a native from Santa Cruz Bolivia. At age of 5 he was accepted in Bellas Artes Music School. He started playing violin at 8. He participated and played in different orchestras and festivals in different cities in Bolivia. In 2012 he received a scholarship to study music at University of Central Arkansas. In 2017, he received the outstanding artist award, college division, by the city of Conway AR, being the only international student in the category. Currently, Gus is pursuing an MBA at Park university and a Graduate certificate in violin in the International Center for Music under the tutelage of Ben Sayevich. Described by the Classical Voices of North Carolina as making the violin “seem easy, almost as child’s play,” violinist Sophia Han is the Assistant Professor of Upper Strings and Concertmaster at Southeast Missouri State University. A versatile musician, Han has command both in the classical and popular genres having performed as guest soloist with orchestras across the US as well as appearing on tour with artists such as Michael Bublé, Audra McDonald, and rock band STARSET. Currently serving as the Associate Concertmaster of Paducah Symphony Orchestra, Han has also appeared as the Concertmaster of Souther Illinois Music Festival Orchestra, the Assistant Concertmaster of Tallahassee Symphony, and is in demand as an adjudicator. With degrees from Florida State University, University of Michigan, and University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Han’s principal teachers include Corinne Stillwell, Aaron Berofsky, and the late Richard Luby. Native to Kansas City, Erik Hassell received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Music from Mizzou while studying violin with Eva Szekely. Since completing his studies, Mr. Hassell has built a thriving violin and viola studio in the KC area. During the school day, he assists Dr Allison Ross at Truman High School and Pioneer Ridge Middle school in the Independence School District. Hassell has performed with the Springfield (MO) Symphony, Topeka Symphony, and Missouri Symphony. He currently performs with the Odyssey Chamber Ensemble, Lee’s Summit Symphony, and Xiphias Trio with Dr Larkin Sanders and Bridget O’Leary. This is his 6th year at TFO.

Mary Hubbard is overjoyed to be returning to Branson for her eighth TFO season. A dog groomer by day, Mary keeps music in her life with freelance work in Grand Rapids, and by teaching private lessons. Every year, the incredible community of Branson welcomes us into their homes and shares in this unique experience. It’s a privilege to be part of this program, and I’ll never be able to say it enough, thank you all.

Violin

Samantha Keller is from Sikeston Missouri. She started piano at the age of 7 and picked up violin in the 7th grade. After picking up the violin, she became seriously focused on music, wanting it to be her career and to share it’s opportunities with others. Currently, Samantha is pursuing a Bachelors of Music Education at Southeast Missouri State University. Zachary Montasser is a freelance musician based in Houston,Texas. Zachary enjoys a varied career as a Musical Theater Artist, Orchestral Musician, Chamber Music Collaborator, Composer, and Lecturer. Currently, Zachary is focused on presenting Performance Lectures to Elderly Communities in the Houston Area. Travis Myers is a private violin teacher and freelancer from Edmond Oklahoma. In 2016 Travis joined the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra for the first time. He is passionate about classical music and enjoys playing fiddle/bluegrass styles as well. Travis plays with the Oklahoma Chamber Symphony and is currently seeking out new violin students. Roshelle Pekarek is a versatile musician with over a decade of teaching and performing experience. Kelly Rhode is a violinist and teacher based in the Metro Detroit area. She currently teaches third through fifth grade orchestra at University Liggett School in Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan. While not playing or teaching, Kelly enjoys board games with friends, practicing Feldenkrais and Yoga, and being outside. This is Kelly’s 6th season at TFO and she is so excited to be back again creating music with old friends and new. Megan Wilson is a lawyer based in Washington, DC. This is her first year with TFO.

Viola

Nate Bliton plays the viola and loves making recordings of wonderful music. While his primary education is in music composition (holding M.M. and B.M. degrees in Music Composition from Michigan State University) he is equally passionate about circus arts, extreme sports, and designing interactive software and electronics for music, theater, dance, and other installations. These days he works at Grand Valley State University on the West side of Michigan for their department of Music, Theatre, and Dance. Sarah Cornish fell in love with the viola at the age of 9 and has been playing ever since. Originally from the Chicagoland area, she has made her way south to Norman, OK continuing to perform with local musicians. Sarah is a graduate of Illinois Wesleyan University with a degree in Music Performance. She is also an original member (currently on hiatus) of the orchestral folk pop band MAKS The Fox from Chicago, IL with 2 recorded albums. Sarah currently performs as principal violist with the OU Civic Orchestra and the OU Civic Quartet.

Viola

Dr. Dilek Engin Stolarchuk is from Istanbul, Turkey and has been playing with TFO since 2014. Dr. Engin earned her B.A. Degree from Istanbul University State Conservatory and her MM from Marshall University. She is currently the String Department Chair at the Flint School of Performing Arts in Flint, Michigan, where she also serves as a Violin/Viola instructor. She teaches the Summer Fun with Strings at FSPA, and is the conductor of the Mason Philharmonic/Youth Orchestra. Dr. Engin is an active performer, teacher and multiple instrumentalist. She lives in East Lansing, MI with her lovely husband, bass trombonist Stefan Stolarchuk. Together, they spend their time trying to make viola and bass trombone duets a thing. Currently, Dr. Engin performs with Midland, Flint, Saginaw Bay, Jackson, Alma, Rochester, Lansing, Holland, Southwest Michigan, International, Adrian, and Oakland Symphonies in Michigan, and the Toledo Symphony in Ohio during the performance season, as assisting viola principal and section player.

Danielle Whipple has played the piano since the age of 7, and thanks to a turn of fate, took up viola when she was 17. Her love for music started with the movie “Amadeus” when she was very young. In college, Danielle majored in meteorology. She tried to keep up with music in the University of Oklahoma Symphony Orchestra, but unfortunately had to drop after three semesters. Viola fell by the wayside until 2019 when she joined the OU Civic Orchestra. She started viola lessons with Gus Weaver in winter 2021, and is looking forward to many more years of viola playing!

Cello

Jarrett Bastow is a professional bassist based in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He is a Section Bassist for the Tulsa Symphony, Assistant Principal Bass of Springfield Symphony Orchestra, and Principal Bass for Symphony of Northwest Arkansas. Currently, he is the Adjunct Bass Instructor at University of Arkansas - Fort Smith and Adjunct Instructor of Low Strings at Northwest Arkansas Community College, and a Teaching Artist for Harmony Project Tulsa. Jarrett received his Bachelor and Master of Music in Double Bass Performance from Ithaca College and Northwestern University respectively. Jarrett is also a Master of Arts Leadership & Cultural Management from Colorado State University. This is Jarrett’s first year playing with TFO! Jiayi Qin was born in Beijing and homeschooled from the age of ten. Cello learning started at the age of 8. Jiayi’s orchestra experience was not until 2017 after joining the Beijing Youth Orchestra at the age of 16. Two years later Jiayi became principal. In 2019, Jiayi was admitted by Biola University as a music performance student. After one year of zoom classes Jiayi finally came to America last August.

Elise Thierbach is a cellist from Washington, Missouri currently studying Cello Performance at Missouri State University under Dr. Daniel Ketter. She plays in the University Symphony and chamber ensembles at MSU, is the president of the Cello Club, and has performed in both the Springfield and St. Louis areas. Outside of music, Elise enjoys working at her family’s farm and is pursuing a double major in mathematics.

Cello

Daniel Yung grew up in Kansas City where he started playing piano, cello, guitar, percussion, bass, and whatever else he could get his hands on. He holds Bachelor degrees in both piano and cello from Truman as well as a Masters in cello from UMKC. Since his schooling, Mr. Yung has been working as the accompanist of choirs for Pleasant Hill Middle and High School as well as freelancing on the side. He has recently been involved in groups of many varieties such as Porch Music KC, Westwood Ensemble, Philharmonia of Greater KC, No Treble, Times and Places, and his new jazz combo, Legerdemain.

Blaine Rister is a musician and engineer working out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Blaine was fortunate enough to study a wide variety of musical topics while obtaining his PhD from Stanford University, which he received in 2022. Though primarily a double bassist, his broad musical pursuits include classical, jazz, musical theater and pop music on a variety of other instruments as well. He has given concerts in almost every genre and role, from performer to composer to audio engineer. At Stanford he studied bass, piano, voice, theory and composition. He has performed in a wide variety of ensembles including the Stanford Philharmonia, Stanford Symphony Orchestra, Saint Lawrence String Quartet Chamber Music Program, solo recitals and freelance engagements. He completed his BS and BA at Rice University where he took courses in theory, composition and jazz performance. His primary bass instructors were Bruce Moyer, at Stanford, and Daniel Smith, of the San Francisco Symphony.

Bass

Evan Spieker is happy to participate in the TFO for his 7th summer season. Evan resides in Shawnee, Kansas and is working on several musical projects. In addition to Frolf, Golf, gardening, ukulele, guitar, euphonium, kendama, and lounging, Evan also plays bass in a Gypsy Jazz quartet named Bonbons Gitan. Over the last year, he completed the introductory certification for being a Sommelier through the Court of Master Sommeliers. Evan is grateful for another fantastic summer session with the TFO and the community of people which make it so special!

Dylan Abbott is a Third-Year Music Performance Major, studying under Professor Angela Jones-Reus at the University of Georgia. He is excited to play in his first season with the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra. Dr. John Ross is on the music faculty at Cottey College in Nevada, MO and teaches and performs in the summers for Sparrow Music Camp in High Springs, FL and the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra in Branson, MO. He has been principal flute of the Italian-American Opera Festival Orchestra (CA), the Charleston Chamber Orchestra (WV), has also performed with the Muncie Symphony, Tallahassee Symphony, and Charleston Light Opera Guild, and has recently appeared as a soloist with the Butler Philharmonic in Hamilton, OH. Dr. Ross attended West Virginia University, Ball State University, and Florida State University.

Flute

As well as being a founding member of TFO, Steven has dedicated much of his time as the graphic designer for the orchestra over the last eight years.

Oboe

Oboist Victoria Lee is a Southern California native returning for her ninth consecutive season with the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra. Ms. Lee is a founding member of the Catalyst Wind Collective and the awardwinning Syrinx Quintet, and is in her seventh season as principal oboe of the Santa Monica Symphony. An avid educator, she maintains studios at the Orange County School of the Arts, and the Orange Coast, Irvine aV lley, and Fullerton Colleges. Ms. Lee resides in Huntington Beach and serves her cat overlords Gunner and Sailor in her free time.

Dr. Rachel Maczko recently won the English Horn position with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic and is Professor of Oboe at Oklahoma City University. She is currently Acting Principal Oboe with the Augusta Symphony, and previously held positions with the Tallahassee Symphony, Savannah Philharmonic, and Albany Symphony in Georgia. Rachel has regularly performed with the Atlanta Symphony, Charleston Symphony, and Huntsville Symphony Orchestras and taught at Florida State University as a sabbatical replacement for Eric Ohlsson. Rachel’s primary teachers include Eric Ohlsson, Jon Dlouhy, Linda Stromm Laura Ahlbeck, and Dan Stolper. When not playing the oboe she enjoys roller skating and playing with her cats.

Jenna Sehmann is an oboist and Instructor of Double Reeds and Music History at Southeast Missouri State Universit Jenna previously served as oboe faculty at Cornell College M ( ount eV rnon, IA) and Mount Mercy University C ( edar Rapids, IA). She holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Oboe Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Iow Master of Music degree in oboe performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and Bachelor of Music degree in both music performance and music industry from Eastern Kentucky University.

Clarinet

Alexandra Doyle , soon to be Dr. Doyle, lives in Cincinnati, where she spends most of her time teaching young clarinetists. She is the Adjunct Instructor of Clarinet at the Stivers School for the Arts, as well as a teacher at Tallant Music Studio. Alexandra moonlights as a musicologist and authored a chapter on women performers in the Wind Music Companion (2023). This is her third season at TFO, and she is happy to return to the festival that introduced her to the love of her life, with whom she shares two cats, one dog, and a knack for dad jokes.

Dr. Lisa Kachouee, Assistant Professor of Clarinet at Oklahoma City University and a Backun Artist, enjoys an active career as a solo, chamber, and orchestral clarinetist. She has performed in Europe, Mexico, and across the United States. A new music advocate, she has premiered over 40 works. She has performed with the Oklahoma City Philharmonic, Fort Smith Symphony, Lawton Philharmonic, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra, Sinfonia Gulf Coast, and the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra. She has worked with students in Egypt, Lebanon, and the Kurdistan Region through American Voices and is Artist Faculty for the InterHarmony International Music Festival.

Clarinet

Dr. Larkin Sanders is a native of Branson, Missouri, and currently lives in Kansas City, Missouri where she is the clarinet instructor at Washburn University, owns the Clever Clarinetist (a clarinet specialty store), is the Executive-Artistic Director of the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, and is an active performer. Dr. Sanders is also endorsed as an Artist by Henri Selmer Paris, D’Addario & Co., Silverstein Works, and Brian Corbin Clarinet Products. In addition to her activities as a clarinetist, teacher, and administrator, Dr. Sanders is also a composer and author of The Creation of the Taneycomo Festival Orchestra: The Performer’s Field Guide to Music Festival Foundation, Mr. Denner and the Missing Notes, and The Clever Clarinetist’s Daily Scale Method: Scales and Exercises for Everyday Use.

Dr. Andi Bragiel, is a music educator and bassoonist based in Cincinnati, OH. A native of Pittsburgh, PA, she holds degrees from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, UNC - Greensboro, and Cincinnati College - Conservatory of Music. She has appeared with the Altoona Symphony, Johnstown Symphony, Greensboro Choral Society, Tri-State Chamber Players, Taneycomo Festival Orchestra, Queen City Chamber Orchestra, and Dayton Philharmonic. She was also a featured concert soloist at the 2015 and 2018 Delta Omicron International Music Fraternity Triennial Conferences. She currently teaches elementary general music and maintains a private bassoon studio in the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky region.

Bassoon

Matthew Rasmussen is a bassoonist, composer, and educator based in California. Ensembles with which he programs include the Fivemind Reed Quintet, the California Young Artists Symphony, and the Santa Monica Symphony, all of which provide music and educational concerts to the West LA community. Matthew is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree in Bassoon Performance at UCLA, studying under John Steinmetz. A native Texan, Robyn Watson began playing bassoon at the age of 10. She received her BM in Music Technology from Belmont University, MM in Performance from the University of Houston, and in May 2022 earned a Performer’s Diploma from SMU. Robyn has been a part of music festivals in the US, Canada, and France. She has been a preferred substitute musician for orchestras all over Texas and Louisiana, and has performed at both the International Double Reed Society and Meg Quigley Bassoon Symposium conferences. In August, she’ll relocate to Seattle, officially joining Trio de Bois, an all-female reed trio.

Horn

Grace Clarke is a rising senior at Boston University, where she is pursuing her bachelor’s degree in horn performance and music education. She currently plays in the BU symphony orchestra, chamber orchestra, and wind ensemble, as well as several chamber groups. Austin Douty is a band/choir director, and a musician in the Missouri Army National Guard. He graduated with a Bachelors in Music Education from Missouri State University in the fall of 2018. He has performed with many local orchestras/bands, as well as the Springfield Symphony and the St. Louis Symphony. This is his 2nd time participating at TFO and is super excited to be able to come back for the 2022 season!

Currently working as a student success coach and adjunct horn instructor at Emory & Henry College, Dr. Lauren Harding has been a member of TFO since 2019. She is associate principal horn of the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra and regularly performs with regional orchestras such as Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Augusta Symphony Orchestra, and Symphony of the Mountains. In her free time, Dr. Harding enjoys cross stitching, quilting, and reading. Andrew Sehmann is Adjunct Instructor of Horn at Young Harris College and Georgia College and State University, where he teaches horn lessons, aural skills and music appreciation. Current and former students have placed first chair in the Georgia Music Education Association’s All State Band, and attended Carnegie Hall’s National Youth Orchestra program. He is third horn at the Augusta Symphony, and second horn with the South Carolina Philharmonic. He has a DMA and MM from the University of Georgia and Diplomas in Horn and Orchestral Performance from the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria. Patrick Williams is a freelance hornist from Southern California who specializes in low-horn playing. He holds a Master’s degree from California State University, Long Beach, having studied with Dylan Hart. A two-time Horn Fellow at the Imani Winds Chamber Music Festival, he is an avid chamber musician and especially enjoys playing new music, having recently performed on Boston New Music Initiative’s Prismatic Congruency series. Patrick graduated magna cum laude from Amherst College with a B.A. in Music and German, where he studied with Jean Jeffries; he is a two-time recipient of the Edward Poole Lay Fellowship.

Trumpet

Tatiana Giesler is a classically trained, multifaceted trumpeter who has performed with the Colburn Orchestra, American Youth Symphony, and Debut Chamber Orchestra. She has had the honor of performing with well-renowned musicians such as Thomas Hooten, Malcolm McNab, Eric Marienthal, Rebecca Wilt, and Jack Black. Her playing has taken her to London with the CSULB Wind Symphony, as well as Denver and Lexington with the National Trumpet Competition, winning second place for the Small-Ensemble division one year and making the semifinals in the Graduate Solo division respectively. Recently, Tatiana made finals for the 2022 Trumpet Multitrack Competition.

Trumpet

Katherine Shindledecker is a trumpet player from Lexington, South Carolina and now a performer and educator in the Bloomington-Normal, Illinois area. She received her Bachelor’s of Music Performance at Winthrop University and is currently pursuing her Master’s of Music Performance and Master’s of Instrumental Conducting at Illinois State University. Katherine is an International prize winning soloist and chamber musician. Katherine has played with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra (Jacksonville, IL), Carolinas Wind Orchestra, the Illinois State Faculty Brass Quintet, and founded the Kronos Brass Quintet. She also maintains her own studio of students and gives masterclasses and clinics in the area. Amongst other music things, Katherine takes great interest in performing, researching, and advocating for music by underrepresented composers.

Loudon Cunningham is a freelance musician located in Dallas. He maintains a private studio of students as well as performs in a variety of ensembles. He has performed with the San Antonio Symphony, Allen Philharmonic, Sherman Symphony, DFW Brass and Imperial Brass, to name a few.

Trombone

Stefan Stolarchuk is an active trombonist and teacher based in East Lansing, MI, where he lives with his wife, TFO violist Dilek Engin Stolarchuk. A native of Ann Arbor, MI, he holds a Bachelor’s degree in music performance from Bowling Green State University, a master’s in trombone performance from the University of Michigan. Stefan is in high demand throughout Michigan, primarily as a bass trombonist, but occasionally on tenor as well. He has appeared with the Ann Arbor, Saginaw Bay, Midland, West Michigan, and Flint Symphony Orchestras, as well as the Detroit Chamber Winds and the Scott Gwinnell jazz orchestra. Adrian Reyes, Principal Trombone of the Santa Monica Symphony since 2019. Adrian graduated from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music in 2018 with a Bachelor of music in Trombone Performance. Adrian’s primary teachers include David Rejano, Principal Trombone of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Mike Hoffman and Steve Trapani. He has attended participated in events such as the Third Coast Trombone Retreat, Georgia Trombone Summit, Southeast Trombone Symposium. Adrian has also studied with many professionals such as Joseph Alessi, Toby Oft, Tim Higgins, and Jim Miller, Steve Lange and Jim Markey. Adrian enjoys rock climbing in his free time as a hobby.

Tuba

Ryan Ehigiator has been playing tuba for 8 years, and in that time, has been part of many prestigious ensembles, such as region ensembles, both band and orchestra, the TMEA All State Symphonic Band, the GDYO Wind Symphony and GDYO, and has subbed for the Mesquite Symphony, Plano Symphony and Plano Community Band. He also has many other accolades, such as solo and ensemble awards, high placements in solo competitions, and has been invited to participate in summer camps. Ryan is currently enrolled as an undergraduate student at Southern Methodist University, double majoring in Business Administration and Tuba Performance. He studies under Matthew Good, principal tubist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. He is currently enrolled in the Meadows Wind Ensemble and the Meadows Symphony Orchestra.

Percussion

Jim Bartelt comes originally from Charlottesville, Virginia. He spent 24 years with U.S. Air Force and Army Bands worldwide, performing all idioms of concert and jazz/commercial music. Outside of military ensembles, Jim has performed with the San Antonio, Birmingham (Alabama), Richmond (VA), and Corpus Christi Symphonies, among others. He was a fellowship participant at major summer festivals in Aspen and Graz, Austria and with Germany’s East-West International Orchestra. Jim has served on the Percussive Arts Society Education Committee and taught for numerous high schools in Texas, Virginia, and elsewhere. He has presented clinics and masterclasses at major conferences and at the scholastic and university levels, here and abroad, and is active both as a soloist and adjudicator. His students have earned acceptance to some of America’s finest music colleges. Jim earned his B. Mus. from Virginia Commonwealth University and his M.M. at Florida State, where he taught applied lessons and Percussion Methods as a graduate assistant. He is an Educational Endorser for GroverPro Percussion. Cori Fincher just graduated from SBU with degrees in percussion performance and psychology. His favorite things to do include feeding his cows treats, reading, and relaxing on the couch with his dog.

Harp

Abigail Brower is an ensemble and solo artist currently based in Eastern Iowa. A graduate of Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, she performed regularly with university orchestras and other ensembles while maintaining an active gig schedule and competing in area instrumental competitions. During and immediately following her undergraduate degree she performed with Southern Indiana area ensembles and taught private lessons for students of all ages. She will be graduating in August 2022 with a Master of Science in Performing Arts Leadership and Management from Shenandoah University.

Piano

Dr. Clara Christian is Associate Professor of Music at College of the Ozarks in Point Lookout, MO. Her students have won state and national awards, been accepted into graduate programs, and gone on to pursue a variety of careers in music. Previously, she taught at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and Northwestern University’s Music Academy in Evanston, IL. An active performer, Dr. Christian has performed at venues such as the Chicago Cultural Center and in St. Petersburg, Russia and Strasbourg, France. She received her D.M.A in Performance and Pedagogy at Northwestern University and her M.M. from the Peabody Institute (Johns Hopkins University).
