Jarrett Bastow is the Orchestra Manager and a Bassist for Taneycomo Festival Orchestra. He is the Education Manager for the Houston Symphony as of April ‘23. He has performed with several orchestras in the Ozark region in the tri-state area and maintained a private cello and bass Suzuki studio. On his spare time, he enjoys rock climbing and traveling.
Atlanta Native Adam Bernstein has been caught honkin away on the double bass in virtually every genre of music you can imagine. He regularly plays with the Atlanta Symphony, Charleston Symphony, Atlanta Ballet, and Atlanta Opera, and has performed on numerous Grammy-nominated albums, toured multiple continents, and nabbed music degrees from the Oberlin Conservatory and Michigan State University. When he isn’t obsessing over music, Adam enjoys watching terrific and terrible movies, playing video and board games, camping, hiking, viking, biking, drinking fancy whiskey and cheap beer.

Andrew Book graduated Magna Cum Laude from Wichita State in 2010 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education and Double Bass Performance. In 2021, he graduated from the University of Kansas with a Master’s in String Pedagogy. Book taught Orchestra in Salina and then McPherson, KS for 6 years, and for the last 7 years has been Orchestra Director at Blue Valley West High School. Book has performed with the Wichita Grand Opera, Salina Symphony, Hutchinson Symphony, Bethany/Lindsborg Orchestra, and most recently the St. Josephy Symphony, Topeka Symphony, KC Civic Orchestra, and Smoky Valley Chamber Orchestra.
By day, Sarah Camey is a registered dietitian who helps kids grow and thrive at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO. By night, she is a bassist with the St. Joseph Symphony and Kinnor Philharmonic. Sarah earned a master’s degree in nutrition and dietetics from the University of Kansas Medical Center and a bachelor’s degree in dietetics with a minor in music from Missouri State University. She enjoys spending her free time with her 2 dogs, 1 cat, and many plants.
Jay Hawkins is excited to join in on the fun and musical challenge that TFO is! Jay currently resides in Hutchinson, Kansas and has served as principal cellist of the Hutchinson Symphony Orchestra for over 20 years. One of his favorite musical highlights was to play cello continuo with the Hutchinson Community College Choir at Carnegie Hall. Jay has enjoyed a longstanding tenure in participation of the Lindsborg Messiah Festival and has played string bass at the Tabor College “Messiah” production for over 30 years. Jay’s primary hobby is cycling and he is entranced with the beauty and potential musical opportunity of our region of the United States. He frequently visits by camping and riding mountain bike trail systems.
Blaine Rister is a musician and engineer working out of the San Francisco Bay Area. Blaine was fortunate enough to study a wide variety of musical topics while obtaining his PhD from Stanford University, which he received in 2022. Though primarily a double bassist, his broad musical interests include classical, jazz, musical theater and pop music on a variety of other instruments as well. In his spare time he can be found hiking, skiing and rock climbing in the Sierra Nevada. Blaine is excited to join TFO for his second season this year.
