Selling 40 Red Angus and Composite Bulls 3 Elite Red Angus Cows 30+ Commercial Replacement Bred and Open Heifers
Born and Raised in Fescue Country!
Preparing for our sale always makes me reflective. Five years from now, our oldest boy will be a teenager. In 10 years, both boys will be in high school and driving. While a little sobering, these facts serve as a reminder that what we do as a family right now, everyday, is shaping these boys for their future. We must instill faith, work ethic, and character in their lives everyday if we want them to be the godly men we hope for. It is also important to reflect on the decisions you make right now regarding the genetics in your cattle operation and the impact they will have on your herd for the next 5 to 10 years. What are your priorities for the future? What traits will drive profitability and sustainability in the beef business? As I see it, now is the time to focus on reducing costs by utilizing genetics that are adapted to your environment and will reduce mature cow size. It is time to invest in adequate calving ease, fast early growth, and carcass merit. Additionally, structurally sound cattle with gentle dispositions will last longer and be more pleasurable to manage. e demand for Red Angus cattle will continue to expand and now is the time to invest in this outstanding breed that is full of great cattle and great people. As you look through these bulls and females, you will see our commitment to these traits in our operations and our commitment to helping you implement these traits in your herd. Born and raised in Missouri fescue-country, these bulls are backed by reliable cow families. We run our cattle in a way that demands they are fertile, efficient, and easy to handle. We are excited to welcome you to our sale at the farm where we provide a family-friendly event designed to help you make the best purchasing decisions for your future. Let us know what questions you have. We want to work with you to match your program goals with the bulls that best fit your needs. Bull and Female Information We strive to make fescue adapted cattle that will perform for you. All bulls have been born and raised in fescue country. Bull Development Bulls from our farm and cooperators are all brought to Steven and Jamie’s farm in November to be developed and fed together. They are on a rough, rocky 12 acre hillside to encourage daily exercise and keep them fit before they go to work for you.
Heifer Pelvic Measurements/Repro Tract Scores All open heifers have been pelvic measured and repro tract scored in early February. This information is provided in this catalog. All heifers must meet our own replacement standards to be offered in the sale.
Bulls are tested on Purina Accuration Developer intake modifying ration, then switched to a high roughage diet after 70 days on test. They also receive Availa4 mineral tubs and grass haylage.
Birth Weights/Calving Ease For your convenience, we have scored the bulls for calving ease. These are based on EPD’s, birth weights, pedigrees, and our observations of the cattle/their parents. This is an opinion, and only one factor that should be taken into account when selecting a bull. Birth weights are highly affected by environmental factors: temperature, nutrition and feeding, etc. Three stars: We believe the bull can be used on heifers under standard conditions with little or no calving difficulty.
Fall Bulls were developed on forage without grain from weaning in May until November. This is reflected in more moderate yearling weights. Heifer Development Heifers are developed in large contemporary groups on pasture and provided 3-5 lbs of grain daily along with free choice grass hay and mineral. Health Cattle are in a complete vaccination program for IBR/BVD/PI3/Lepto/Vibrio and dewormed at weaning. In February, they go through another round of vaccinations and deworming and all bulls receive Multimin 90. Throughout the year we utilize Bass Livestock Nutrition minerals as directed by Scott Bass for our cowherds. Cooperators also follow similar health and mineral programs. Breeding Soundness Exams Animal Medical Center of Marshfield performs Breeding Soundness Exams on all bulls prior to sale day.
2 Cattle Born and Raised in Fescue Country
Two stars: We would recommend the bull be used on
growthy heifers or cows under standard conditions with little or no calving difficulty. One star: We recommend the bull be used on cows.
Retained Ownership We are retaining 50% semen ownership on all bulls except where stated. Buyer receives full possession and salvage rights. This allows us to use their genetics in our herd at our expense and your convenience.

Herd Sire! It has been our pleasure to have Andras New Direction A080 roam our pastures the past 3 years. The second son of the legendary New Direction R240 to ever sell, A080 has proven himself with over 65 progeny and more hitting the ground daily. He has made a tremendous impact on our herd leaving us darkred, moderate sized daughters with flawless udders. He sires fast growing calves that meet the industry demand for low BW, fast growth, carcass quality and muscling. Several of his sons and daughters highlight this sale. He is a super fertile and sound bull that always passes his breeding soundness exam with flying colors – he can cover a lot of cows and maintains his condition. As we have retained so many of his daughters, it is time to give you the opportunity to utilize this powerful bull in your program. Selling 100% ownership.

Here is a super stout, deep and easy doing bull that hails from our Red Rose 313R cow family, making him closely related to Lot 3. In a league of his own with his 708 AWW and 1322 AYW, this bull is more than just powerful, he is a cowmaker with low Maintenance Energy EPD. As Jim says, “Knowing what we know about our cows, this is the bull I would buy” because they work so well in our environment. This gentle bull has five maternal cousins in our purebred replacement heifer pen.

Wow! A phenotypic standout, this Profitbuilder son has a 68# BW and presses down the scales for WW & YW. If you are looking for one that will pay for himself in a hurry, look here. Think of the extra pounds he can put on your calves. Like his sire, you’ll appreciate his quality foot shape, length, and thickness.

A son of the Calving Ease and Growth leader, Fritz Justice, this guy has been a standout since day one. We love our Dory Jiba cow family for their capacity and milk production. This dark red bull is TOP 1% for WW and YW and will add pounds of performance at weaning. You will love not only the steers that put dollars in your pocket, but his daughters that will work for years to come. Justice sons were some of the most sought after bulls in our 2017 sale.

JUSTICE sons were the most popular pen of bulls at last year’s sale and here is another reason why cowmen like these studs. Lot 20 is long-bodied, heavy muscled and is a WW & YW trait leader. Did I mention that a JUSTICE sired steer, shown by Sari Rogers, was the OVERALL CHAMPION CARCASS STEER at the 2017 Missouri State Fair?!?! If you are retaining ownership of your calves, look at this stud as a way to improve carcass quality.

Yes, this is a Red White-faced, 7/8 Red Angus bull that combines New Direction and Redemption in a docile, thick, moderate-statured package. This stud goes back to cows from Jamie’s SAE when she was in high school. This cow family sheds fast in the spring, have beautiful udders and raises some of the best percentage cattle we own. Look at those EPD’s for WW & YW combined with low Maintenance Energy and a TOP 21% GridMaster Index. For years we have turned down private treaty offers on the white faced commercial cows in our herd. They are moderate, consistent producers of some of the heaviest weaning calves.

If you didn’t read the pedigrees, you would think this bull and Lot 28 were full brothers. A little different twist, but the P707 bloodline runs through both of them. This stud goes back to JUSTICE on his dam’s side and provides the heifer friendly calving ease you would expect from such a pedigree. He is really a solid bull that is thick made, deep sided and will slick off quick this spring. This would be a nice pair to put to work as a team on your herd.

Back to some purebred Red Angus bulls, here is an 18-month old bull has the look of a heifer bull and boasts a 60# BW, but then jumps to a 69 WW and a 110 YW EPD – talk about a big spread bull. Square-hipped and athletic, he should cover a lot of country and a lot of cows.

This November son of A080 is really an eye catcher. Out of our Dory Jiba cow family, he will add depth and dimension to his calves. Not a heifer bull, but if you have some cows that need a shot of growth and capacity, here is a way to deliver that from a proven cow family.

Here is the last natural calf of our foundation donor, Nolin’s Expresso. This is her 12th natural calf and her lifetime of production includes progeny ratios of 98 BW, 104 WW, and a 103.66 MPPA (all while being in our donor program). Talk about a dependable, productive cow! This rascal has brothers working all over the Midwest. He is an attractive bull that will come into his own as he matures. Older genetics like this tend to take a beating when it comes to EPD’s, but the proof is in the longevity of the cow and the impact she has had on our herd. He is a great heifer bull prospect.

The lone Black White Face fall bull in the sale. Half Red Angus, ¼ Simmental, ¼ Angus, this stud is Top 1/3 for CE, BW, and WW. He also ranks in the TOP 15% for API and TI. If you want to make quality feeder calves or if you retain ownership through the feedlot, here is an age-advantaged bull that is sound and will cover a few extra when compared to his younger mates. His dam slicks off hair quickly in the spring and her progeny average ratios are 97 BW, 102 WW and 104 YW.
Keeping the Families in the Farm and the Farms in the Families Since our last sale, Nathan and Carrie Rogers welcomed daughter Sadie Mae and Zack and Rain Condon welcomed son Casey Clair.

This pair of Justice grandsons are really long-made thick topped bulls that are low birth-weight, high-growth calves that are some of the younger bulls in the offering. They will develop into rugged, sound, powerful bulls that can cover a lot of ground. This guy has that big birth to weaning spread that puts pounds on the scale when you sell your calves.

Heifer Bull Alert! Look at the Top 10% CE and BW on this black hided Red Angus composite bull. He has held his own on ADG as the youngest bull in the offering and does so with a lot of muscle expression and an attractive, heads up design. His 14-year-old dam is still working hard on southwest Missouri fescue!
CW
Another Black Hided Red Angus/Simmental bull that is not only a great heifer bull prospect, but ranks Top 5% for both API and TI indexes in the Simmental database. If you want to sleep easy next spring, here is one to turn out on your heifers. Simply the epitome of what we are trying to produce in SimAngus numbers...API, TI, CE and Marbling. Genetically, he is likely the highest valued SimAngus bull you'll find in any sale this spring.

We remember well how hard it was starting a Red Angus herd that was adapted to fescue country. We have commited to offer some of our finest females each year to provide our customers the opportunity to build their own programs – whether they are just starting out or building on an established herd. This exceptional first-calf heifer exemplifies the focus of our breeding program. She combines the genetics of New Direction and P707 in a dark red, moderate, ultra-feminine package with a beautiful udder and a balanced set of EPD’s. Her bull calf sired by Genex’s 3SCC Domain, born on 2/11/18 at 74# should be a real standout as he grows and has an exceptional projected EPD profile which includes an 8 CED, 21 Milk, and 52 GridMaster. This is the kind of young pair we would purchase for ourselves.

Purchased at the historic RA Brown Dispersal in 2013, Y6665 has done a great job for us. This beautiful cow stacks breed impacting genetics in a moderate-framed, gentle, big-middled package. She sheds her haircoat early in the spring and has a beautiful udder. She is confirmed bred for a May/June baby out of the $22,000 Andras Bando B068. When selecting purebred cows to offer, we set the following criteria: proven cow-family, breed leading genetics in the calves, and plenty of sisters in our herd. Like the two Adj. WW 494 previous lots, RGC KITTY B71 fits these criteria and just happens to be a beautiful, Adj. YW moderate-framed cow hitting her prime with her third calf. Her daughter shines as Lot 41, giving you the chance to buy both pairs and have genetic consistency from the start. Her Dam MPPA heifer calf-at-side was born on 2/9/17 at 62# and is indeed a daughter of ANDRAS BANDO B068. His first weaned daughter to ever sell brought $6500 as a show prospect at the CE Rating Andras Kind Sale in November 2017. We think this heifer calf is full of potential to impact YG CW REA FAT the breed. Commercial Bred Heifers Lots 44-47 offered by JS Ranch Offering 4 commercial bred heifers from JS Ranch that are pasture bred to a calving-ease son of Fritz Justice for late-March/April calves. These are beautiful first-calf heifers out of AI sires and earned the right to be replacements for Jim & Cody Holt – which is a pretty demanding set of criteria from no-nonsense cattlemen. Only offered as they did not breed AI, they will be very close to calving by sale day.
Commercial Open Heifers We are pleased to offer these commercial heifers that are right out of our replacement heifer pens. Each group of heifers have pelvic measurements and reproductive tract scores. They have been brucellosis vaccinated and have had all other appropriate vaccinations and deworming. We will run the heifers in the sale ring in groups of 2 or 3. These groups will be matched up based on genetics and phenotype to provide you an opportunity to purchase consistency. You will be able to buy one heifer at a time or the group in the ring all at once.
Lots 48-58 offered by Lile & Rogers Commercial Replacement Heifers (Jim Lile & Steven Rogers) Offering every commercial replacement heifer we kept back. No culls here, just high quality females out of our foundation crossbred herd that is Red Angus/Gelbvieh/Simmental based. All but the 1/2 Red Angus are registered in RAAA database. Lot #
