DIFFERENT OPTIONS AVAILABLE FOR PRINTING POSTERS The purpose of this article is to discuss the different options available when printing posters, and which ones are most commonly requested here in Queensland. The first thing to decide is the size of poster that you require, and the quantity you need. These two factors will decide whether you poster is printed on an offset printing press or a roll fed digital printer. A3 posters are quite cost effective, because we can print them on our A3 sized digital press. Quantities of 50-500 are cost effective using this machine. Larger quantities are printed on our offset press. A2 and A1 sized posters can also be printed on our offset press, for quantities larger than 500. Smaller quantities are printed using a roll fed digital printer. This machine is great for small quantities up to 50.Bear in that the cost per poster from the roll fed machine is quite a bit higher than from the offset press. Our roll fed digital machine prints in CMYK only and this technology is not capable of spot color (PMS). Exact color matching cannot be guaranteed and certain colors cannot be printed in CMYK. Some examples of these colors that are not compatible with CMYK are: Any metallic or fluro colors, royal blues, vibrant oranges etc. Once the quantity gets past 50 pieces, it becomes cheaper to print 500 posters on the offset press, because the price per poster is much lower. We stock a range of different stocks from 100gsm to 250gsm, which are all available in a gloss or matt finish. For posters that you would like to survive the test of time, we recommend a laminate to extend the posters lifespan and increase durability.
