ARCA... ...here to support members

Being available for members to contact for support, and delivering sound advice and information; professionally, confidentially and timely, is ARCA’s commitment to the Association’s members.

Whether a member needs practical advice on a specific asbestos removal method or clarity on a clause within a regulation, the ARCA team is just a call away.

AAs well as being available on the phone to answer questions and provide advice, the team can assist with more in-depth services.

Additional Site Audits

Members can and do request additional site audits to run alongside the required three unannounced site audits under the ARCA Site Audit Accreditation Scheme. These audits follow the same criteria as the ARCA audits and so provide a consistent form of measurement.

Members can request ARCA to organise additional audits either; by arrangement, so the member informs ARCA of the date and site, or unannounced, whereby there is no prior notice of an audit.

Member Internal Audit App

ARCA Full Contracting Members can sign-up for the ‘Member Internal Site Audit App’, so their internal site audits use the same question set as the ARCA audit and are automatically scored.

This enables direct comparison of ARCA audits and internal audit results, so providing a strong management tool.

There is also a Contract Manager Site Observation Audit form, which enables managers to quickly and easily record their findings when visiting sites, and a form for recording observations and actions for nonlicensed work.

The App is a web and remote device based application enabling auditors to audit using a number

of handheld platforms, and pricing is available for a single user and multiple users.

Management System Review

Having the right systems in place is crucial, as robust management systems give confidence, and the principles of effective management support every aspect of a business to operate more efficiently.

ARCA can undertake a review of a business’s management systems, structures and communications between office and on-site, to critically examine the way the business is functioning and how well the business is able to demonstrate effective management arrangements.

Specialist Advice

The Association’s team is available to support the specific needs of a member contractor, whether that is an in-depth review of Plans of Work or the company’s TNA system.

Licence Renewal Preparation Service

Being fully prepared to make an asbestos licence renewal application is vital for asbestos removal businesses.

So too is asking for support early in the process. By asking for assistance early enough there is time to implement any suggestions, gather further evidence, as well as gaining a better understanding of the application process and how to submit evidence.

Therefore, to support asbestos removal members ARCA offers a Licence Renewal Preparation Service. To deliver this service, ARCA has a team of in-house experts with extensive knowledge in auditing and regulatory requirements, together with the experience of former HSE inspectors.

Bespoke Asbestos Training

ARCA arranges bespoke training courses for members to cover specific topics which they may want to gain further knowledge on, whether it be air management within an asbestos removal enclosure or personal air monitoring. Courses can be held at an ARCA centre (practical facilities available), remotely, or if appropriate can be held at members’ premises.

Guidance Notes

ARCA publishes Guidance Notes on a variety of asbestos removal related subjects to assist in the practical application of legislative requirements, such as ‘Air Management in Asbestos Enclosures’ and ‘Provision of Welfare Facilities for Asbestos Work’.

Currently there are eleven Guidance Notes available as free downloads on the ARCA website.

Also, available on the ARCA website are the ALC (Asbestos Leadership Council) Technical Working Group Appendices.

ALFA - the Asbestos Labour

Feedback App

ALFA, the first of its kind in the industry, enables ARCA member licensed asbestos removal contractors to rate the performance and behaviour of operatives supplied by ARCA labour supply members.

Having an overall performance rating for an operative will provide the contractor with some reassurance of the competency of an agency operative before they arrive on site.

ALFA, a web-based application, has been developed by ARCA to provide benefits for all parties, including: reassurance of labour competence, training needs and certificate management, that is certificate information for operatives is available within the App, and certificates due to expire are highlighted, so supporting timely renewal.
