"Art of Contrast"
New solutions for designing urban museums with highly diversified uses as well as multiple external influences. Site: Deichtorplatz, Deichtorhallen museum, Hamburg, Germany. Site Area: 4720m2 GFA: 8731m2 Inspired by the art piece inside Falckenberg museum, we think there are two kinds of exhibitions. One was Created by space, they only belonged to this space. Another one I would say it is created individually, they can travel to anywhere. So, they must need different kind of displaying conditions, different dialogue like different experience, storing and lighting. So to emphasis these and enlarge their attraction, it is necessary that to display them in two different ways. Architectually, If we want to show two exihibiton in two ways, they should be separated but connect each other somehow. have two boxes, to show people a strongly different feeling about two exhibitions, it should showed the massing difference from the transparency and volume, a dark box and a light box. Also, by elevated the heavy weight massing and sunk the light weight on two position to enlarge the senses and dramatic. Then to connect these two massing with a storage facility as a transmitter. At last, the way to show art can be divided into two different ways to emphasis the state of the art. In this proposal, by using the form and relationship between indoor and outdoor simply, a building with two massings, two structures to provides different kinds of exhibition conditions such as lightings, circulation and organization of spaces' form. Two kinds of art, two kinds of expressions, no matter architecturally or mentally. To define a new kind of museum relationship with city and art, but also to bring people a new way to explore art. 08

"Radiator" Thermodynamic Prototype in Urban Regeneration, in the condition of China. Site: former site of Shangai power company, Shanghai Site Area: 80900m2 GFA: 24000m2 Based on the reciprocal thinking of the long history of energy, material and architectural form, the study of thermodynamic architecture attempts to re-establish the contemporary design method and evaluation system to reflect the lack of consideration of the factors of climate and environment. This studio focus on factors in our environment that can affect the form of the building and the thermodynamic assessment of it, such as air, ventilation, temperature, materials. About this topic, we basically setted five steps: research, preliminary prototype establishment, prototype development , material research and implantation to the urban. The site of the former site of the Shanghai power company is an area contains three main attributes: waterfront, historical, and industrial hesitage. By focusing on the thermodynamic issues and the local issues at the same time, we first generated the prototype from the study of radiator, which is an idea learn from the climate adaption of Bentota beach hotel. Then generated the tectonic prototype on the basis of deeper research and the modular theory for the implantation after. In whole, we basically generated a mulit-function museum within art, history, creative functions. Which is a museum could with comfortable experience.

"Flux and Reflux"
Renovation with river and street of North bund, Hongkou, Shanghai.
Site: Hongkou bund area, Hongkou district, Shanghai Site area: 85771m2 GFA: 188411m2 The site is located at North bund area of Hongkou district, Shanghai. This area has many kinds of building types and functions, especially the Linong old houses,they were basically surrounded by residential apartments and offices’ buildings. Also, the situation of the area is intense that, the river is not under well usage, but most importantly, the areas remain the floor problems for years since last urban renewal when there is bad rainstorm weather. To slove the issues,we came up with an idea of “Flux and Reflux”. More distributaries from the Hongkou river were excavated, Which will lead more canal to the area, to create more flexible spaces such as market square and lake square. And to decompress the water level what it is storm weather at the same time. Which means that, the functions will change along with water level. When the water level is high, they become normal small rivers like drains for water splitting and also landscapes for the areas; when the water is dry out, they will become pedestrians and leisure area like café and for barbeque. From different states of the river and timetable, we created plenty of spaces to echo the site and the historical building form. This is a clear concept to make the area more valuable and more convenient, but also more amusing spaces to support the new Shanghai city master planning, and more importantly,the local can get benefit from it. 32

Design statement: The site is located at North bund area of Hongkou district, Shanghai. This area has many kinds of build34functions, especially many Linong old houses built there, and they were basically suring types and rounded by residential apartments and offices’ buildings. Also, the situation of the area is intense, which is mostly because of the Hongkou river of the site is not under well using, and the bad environments along the riverside badly influent the site. "Macau Morphosis"
Coração de Ou Moon, a waterfront fun palace. Site: Novos Aterros Urbanos B, Península de Macau, Macau, China. Concealed by the spectacular casinos, and the weak cultural output for Macau, as one of the methods, the regional urban spaces belong to the local need to be aroused. A dramatic unique system of modern social and cultural district was appeared at the central part of the Macau region...So, how can a district with diversity can be connected by this system? Roads which are generated by the center rays shot from Praça de Ferreira do Amaral, are the roads to the four large scale cultural facilities, they are concert hall, library, art center and museum, they can have the “coastline cultural terminal” with Macau Tower, Guanyin Hall and Macau Science Hall reshaped and enriched. Horizontally, different characters of areas and architecture continued the different scales of the city context. But to emphasis the future and a brand-new experience for urban life and tourism, not only a green linear amusement park nearby the coast was appeared, but also a dramatic system of rolling LRT with sky wheel travel through the area as a new kind of city travel system. By providing more places for social activities and touring, and under the special city travel system, local finally have the high quality social spaces, and tourists have more special reasons to visit the city. Here can now run just like the casinos, never stop beating…

"mixed-use" and human connection in magacity Shanghai.
Site: North Sichuan road business district, Shanghai, China Site area: 42552m2 GFA: 93536m2 City growing fast and everything becoming crowed. All of these phenomenons emerged the overspeed development of China. There are many style constructions conservation areas in Shanghai, Shanyin road area, with a hundreds years history park--LuXun park, also a famous tourism spot-Tianai road and Duolun road, is facing a current urban renewal stage challenge. The locals and the government both want a new vibrant scene for here. An urban complex might just can lights here up. But to implant an urban complex in this area is a bold move because of the history. We wnat this urban complex can intervene to solve subtle issues like neighborhood relationship, vitality of the area, etc.. We have discovered that a block can be subdivided by its nearby roads, then the several functions of the buildings within the block will also be realized by subdivision and transformation in Shanghai, which is also an self-organization about mixed use method. More importantly, we must follow this special context if we want more locals to get in here. A concept about "smash and integrate" should be friendly intervened. From the context, "smash" for the volume of complex near the old Linong houses for comfortable scale at the street, also means to help to bring the locals take part in the complex; then to "intergate" the functions of the typical urban complex like hotel, retail, office etc.. For functions to voulmes, And then a monster urban complex which I do believe that it can connect the disconnection of the area.

"Repubilc of Design"
A revelution of the industry interacction mode, an urban silicon alley. Site: Nanjing Old Tobacco Factory,Nanjing, China Nanjing Old Tobacco Factory is located at the junction of Yang Jiangjun Alley-Beiting Alley in Xuanwu District,Nanjing City. Currently it is a commercial and factory building, and its physical space is relatively backward. The distancefrom Southeast University and Xinjiekou is 1km, and it is close to the Presidential Palace. To make this design have its unique positioning, also blend with school, business, and history will be our main consideration. We generated a strategy that are considering the complexity of the area,which are based on the government's urban renewal tactics of "silicon alley" and our research about the design industry interaction mode. They are keywords of symbiosis, share, co-creation and united. Our goal is to renew the park generate a new interraction mode. Facing the topic of Silicon Alley, we hope to create a creative park in which combine design, art, and daily life. Therefore, we hope to respect the history of the original tobacco factory and not com pletely dismantle it. Instead, we will form an internal and external contrast by adding a plug-in perforated plate "cloud" as a poetic space. the remaining small masses cooperate with the M building known as "design republic". We hope to restate the underlying spatial relationship and lead the circulation of people into the site. Considering that the first floor space is 7.2 meters which is a chance for additional inter layers, so, intergating inter layers for area make up is the plan To respect the history, we don't want to completely eliminate this history. Therefore, we have adopted the strategy of partial demolition and reconstruction most of which retain the transformation by adding new envelope. 50
