The last 12 months have been a big roller coaster ride! Thank you all for coming along for the ride with me and being so supportive of the challenges I've faced and loving all the changes I have made to the store as Little Lamb continues to grow and evolve. I’ve served many of you with a crying baby on my hip or while breastfeeding. You’ve offered to wait while I’ve changed a stinky bum or mopped up baby spew! You’ve been patient as new staff learn and when we’ve run into hiccups with our new computer system. I’m incredibly lucky to have such amazing and understanding customers and I truly appreciate you all. I was delighted and honoured to be contacted by a national Toy and Hobby Retailer magazine, a nationwide industry magazine for retailers and wholesalers. We were asked to provide a prediction of our top 5 selling gifts for Christmas and even got to have a store photo in the magazine! Our Favourite Outfits
With 100s of beautiful items to choose from its a very hard decision to make but we have managed to put together our favourite boys and girls outfits for the babies and big kids and have each described why we picked them. (Stock available at time of publication)
Stevie’s Favourites RIGHT: I am a little bit obsessed with everything vintage at the moment and lightweight linen fabrics! They’re just so prefect for our climate plus have such a timeless feel and last and last! The blue swing top from Bebe is so light its almost sheer and I love the tiny lace detail sewn in. I think it is stunning paired with the Plum lace bloomers. Sweet and delicate. This truck singlet from Love Henry teamed with Bebe Duke pants are my new favourite outfit for my little Man, who is 15 months. Together they are a beautiful mix of rugged boy with cute vintage style which is so sweet at this age– not quite baby but not too grown up. Even thought the pants are long, they are so lightweight that they are cool even in hot weather. I love the unique ‘grandpa’ style and love that they are so versatile to wear to any occasion, from casual BBQ to dressed up party. The Love Henry Singlets are always adorable, with the vintage print fabrics and lovely stitching and appliqué details. They always have the “awwww” factor. LEFT: For the big girls I have chosen the Hide &Seek chevron shorts which my daughter and husband equally loves as much as I do. In fact my husband loves them so much he asked me to get Emma a second pair in a different colour! I love the vibrant colour and practicality of the wide legged shorts. It means Emma can run, jump and play at a park or party while still being dressed up and looking super sweet with the big bow at the front. I pair it with a plain white singlet or tee shirt so the shorts really stand out. For the boys, I love the smart casual look of the Fox & Finch sunnies tee with cotton dress shorts. t think the quirkiness of the sunnies print and the tiny green detail in the pocket wins me over from all the other boys tops.

I really love accessorising with matching hats for the little ones- its so cute, stylish and makes such a special gift. I love classic soft colours for babies and particularly LOVE this Liberty Art Print (on the girls playsuit) and the fabric is so soft it feels like silk! It is very special, no wonder its one of our best sellers! I don’t think you can go past a classic polo top for boys, they always look so cute in them and can dress them up or down. The Quince Classic Party Dress’s are just the sweetest. I think its so lovely to have little girls look like little girls. I also LOVE the blue cupcake print version of this dress! The boys outfit I have chosen (Bebe Max shirt and linen shorts) has such lovely detail on it, making it is so spunky and smart but without being too grown up.
Nina’s Favourites BELOW: I love the bright colours and the white lace frills on the Hide and Seek Lacey dress’s! The yellow is my favourite- Easy, Breezy, Beautiful! I love the light fabric of the Milky check shirts and that they can be long or short sleeved. They look gorgeous with the white shorts! ABOVE: I just adore this Purebaby creation (coral colour playsuit) for the baby girls! It's simple but stunning! I love the fabric and colour! Wish I had a little girl!! When picking a little boys outfit I couldn't go past Love Henry...I just love Love Henry! The red shorts are beautiful, lovely details and such light fabric! My Little boy wears them with a white singlet and the Love Henry bib! So cute that its matching yet so practical to leave on for dribble and food! The bib even has a strap to attach a dummy to and when the bib gets dirty you can turn it into the pocket!

Burlesque after a baby?
One of the perks of my job is getting to know regular customers. One such customer is the owner of Ellashaye’s Secret Women's Business. When she was pregnant we would have a chat about Obstetricians and birth, after Maximus was born we talked about co sleeping and breastfeeding, teething and the sadness we felt by how quick the time was going. Then, in amongst it all I discovered she was in fact a titled burlesque dancer and she had just started teaching again!
I was immediately intrigued, how does burlesque fit into the world of a super sweet and exceptionally adoring and doting mum and what place could it have in the lives of others? Ellashaye talks to Little Lamb about her new school. “As a performer and dance teacher I was very aware of my body’s changes during both the ante-natal and post natal periods. I’m not one for the gym and after having my son wanted something fun & social that would fit around my gorgeous son Maximus. So, I began dancing again and feeling my body find strength again made chasing after my little one easier! A lot of my playgroup mummy friends began asking me all about Burlesque so I started teaching a few girls. It was then I knew that its not weight loss and muscle definition women might want, but to feel like a goddess! I knew that feeling comes from within not on the outside or due to body size or shape, but that sense of being that makes each of us glow. I understand how during all the demands its sometimes hard to feel more than just a mum and like a woman. So with that thought I have opened “Ellashaye’s Secret Women’s Business” a school that not only teaches budding performers and established artists alike but teaches classes throughout the week to women of all ages, sizes and ability. I make classes flexible so everyone is getting what they need from it, fitness, sensuality, but most of all FUN! Women come for all different reasons and needs, some to spice up a relationship, some to regain some confidence within themselves and lots to simply try something new and have lots of fun with a few girlfriends! I offer everything from casual classes to 10 week performance courses, both teaching women how to move, walk and get in touch with that inner goddess hidden deep under being a mum, a partner and everyday life! Next year I will also be offering roaring 20s classes teaching the Jive and the Charleston which will be a lot of fun!”

As 2013 comes to a close (and I think about the fact I have only had one hair cut this year!) I thought I’d talk to a couple of friends who happen to be two of Darwin’s leading hairdressers about their predictions for hair styles and any tips they could give us!
