LiteGait I Series LiteGait Options and Accessories: FlexAble Yoke Page25 Now standard on the LiteGait I models, the FlexAble yoke allows control of patient’s vertical displacement during gait cycle; it can adjust from rigid support to up to 4 inches of displacement with the simple turn of a knob. Freedome Yoke Page25 The Freedome Yoke incorporates a rotational pivot allowing the patient/user to freely rotate in place beneath the yoke while remaining securely supported by the same harness. It can be locked in four 90-degree increment positions allowing patient to walk sideways or backward on or off the treadmill, or walk with assistance when facing out. LiteGait Harnesses Page27 The unique design of a LiteGait harness not only permits unilateral or bilateral support allowing progression of the weight bearing load from non to full weight bearing, but also allows the clinician to manually assist a patient’s legs and pelvis to achieve proper gait patterns. Harnesses are available for a wide range of patient heights and girths and range in size from a crawling harness to an XL Adult Harness. Optional Scale Features: BiSym Scale Page28 BiSym bilateral symmetry scale measures and displays the amount of weight bearing load supported to the right and left side of the body both in standing and as it changes throughout the gait cycle. The scale allows for accurate documentation and charting of patient progress. It is a great way to build patient confidence. UniScale UniScale measures the total amount of weight being supported by the device. LiteGait AutoStep Page29 AutoStep is a mechanism that, when attached to the front of walkers or LiteGait, will assist the facilitation of symmetrical stepping patterns. LiteGait Testimonials

Often we get feedback from LiteGait users that reminds us why we do what we do. We’re happy to share some of those stories with you here. "I look at myself and my intellect is clear, my internal organs are fine, i'm back to my original weight 175, i have muscle tone everywhere and no major atrophy, my core strenghth is improving and my two arms are working almost equally. Its due to the equipment and what it does to give injured people a fighting chance for getting strength and balance back for their physical lives. Thank You !" - J. Efhan, Kauai, HI "Through the use of the LiteGait and the prayers to God, I have gained an increase in hope and faith that my walking will improve. Also the "Plateau" was removed from my physician and therapist vocabulary when referring to my illness. On July 15, 2008, I restarted my physical therapy [...] in New Orleans. We are using the LiteGait device, and I can honestly say that the best prescription for my recovery process is the LiteGait (It has no side effects only miraculous effects)." - T. Giffin, New Orleans, LA "Hello. I am writing to tell you how spectacularly your product has helped my son Jeffrey. Jeffrey has been rehabilatating from a severe hemmoraghe in the Pons of his brainstem. We heard of your product about two years ago. I had talked with another mom who raved about it and said it was way better than any walker she had used. I did some research and realized she was absolutely correct. It took me just about a year to get the State of Arizona to agree and fund it for my son. We have been working daily on it since we got it. Jeffrey has had two orthopedic surgeries and was able to recover very quickly due to the Lite-Gait. I have seen

6

tremendous progress in balance and core strength and correct gait pattern all due to your Lite-Gait. I only wish I had this from day one. I tell other moms and therapists the great results we have had and encourage them to check it out. Thank you for making an amazing product that is user friendly and 100% effective!" - H. Bristol "The Litegait is a tremendous asset to our program. Patients feel more confident and are able to achieve goals more efficiently using this device." - PT, Jackson, MS

"My daughter had not walked in 3 1/2 years. She has been on the lite gait and has been walking for 1 month , 5-6- times a day with a walker. She has made tremendous progress and our goal is for her to walk independently." - J. Busby "We ordered and received a LiteGait back in 1997. My son was in a terrible car accident in 1995 and the doctors gave little to no hope of him ever walking again. He had a brain injury that affected his function on his left side, much like a stroke victim. They told us that he would be wheelchair bound for the rest of his life. Our son used LiteGait regularly in our home in those early years and we credit much of his recovery to using the LiteGait. We were lucky to have LiteGait in the home for him to use regularly and continued to use it over the years. Once he realized he was safe, he was able to work on regaining his balance & strength & coordination, and he progressed from there. He now walks using a cane or a walker, depending on what he is doing in his home. We have since donated our LiteGait to a local Childrens Center in the KitchenerWaterloo area, and they were most grateful to receive it so that their patients can now get the benefits from LiteGait. The device is so durable, that after us using it for 10+ years, it was still in great condition." - F.N., LiteGait customer, Canada

Partial Weight Bearing Gait Therapy

LiteGait is the original gait training device that simultaneously controls weight bearing, posture, and balance over a treadmill or over ground. LiteGait I 400 Platform Over Treadmill Training

LiteGait I 200P with AutoStep Over Treadmill Training

What is Partial Weight Bearing (or body weight support) gait therapy? Partial Weight Bearing (PWB) Gait Therapy makes use of a suspension system to provide proper upright posture as well as balance and safety during treadmill walking. This is accomplished through a harness that removes a controllable portion of the weight from the legs and redistributes it to the trunk and groin. This arrangement permits free movement of the patient’s arms and legs. The horizontal movement is preferably provided by a slow moving treadmill. The treadmill’s constant rate of movement provides rhythmic input, which reinforces a coordinated reciprocal pattern of movement. Proper coordination is further assisted by the manual placement of the feet, and/or weight shifting, by the therapist. Once coordination is established, treadmill rates and the degree of weight bearing are increased. Patients should then practice these skills in overground walking in a safe, fall free environment.

How are Partial Weight Bearing treatment protocols performed? PWB walking therapy has been clinically applied to patients with a wide range of gait deficits. PWB protocols are appropriate whenever gait therapy has been prescribed, and also for those previously not considered candidates due to level of function. Severely involved patients may benefit from training aimed at developing the coordination needed for walking during the earliest stages of their recovery. A safe and effective protocol manipulates the amount of weight bearing load supported, the speed of the treadmill, manual cueing by the clinician, and the duration & frequency of the sessions. It also includes the ability to practice the skills safely in overground walking. To progress the patient along, the individual is supported to promote normalcy of walking. The amount of support will vary depending on patient condition and treadmill speed. Treadmill sessions can begin as slow as 0.2kph to establish proper gait patterns, but are quickly increased. Initial sessions will be short, as little as 3 minutes of training with 5 minutes of rest, repeated. Duration will increase based on patient performance and frequency of sessions. Visit www.litegait.com for more protocol information.

The rigid, Y-shaped yoke supports the patient from directly over each shoulder maintaining posture and balance. This unique design allows control over the partial weight bearing status of each side of the body independently. This is not possible with other suspension systems that operate from a single pivot point.

Four overhead adjustable straps allow correction of asymmetric upper body posture. Each of the straps can be individually adjusted to assure that the correct posture for proper walking is maintained.

The harness securley wraps around the patient’s trunk and comfortably transfers load to the abdomen and the groin area while allowing full leg extension. The unique LiteGait design prevents seated posture to allow the patient’s legs to remain in the correct position for walking.

The wheeled base is designed to fit over most treadmills and is also perfect for over ground walking. LiteGait castors lock the device securely in place over a treadmill for performing gait therapy. Then, when patients are ready to practice the skills they have learned, LiteGait can be smoothly pushed over ground preventing falls and the fear of falling.

The actuator is the lifting mechanism that permits the incremental adjustment of weight bearing and allows a 500lb patient to be brought to an upright posture by a single operator. One therapist can put the harness on the patient, lift them into position for walking therapy and precisely adjust load according to the patient’s needs.

LiteGait I 200P

Pediatric Therapists care for a wide range of patient sizes, infants to adult size teenagers. The unique design of the LiteGait I 200P allows successful treatment of the entire “pediatric” population with a single device. The design of the LiteGait I 200P makes use of a 24 inch inverted vertical lift column (similar to adult LiteGait models) and 24 inches of manual adjustability of the yoke along the inverted column (similar to pediatric LiteGait models). The advantage of the 200P is that it allows a pediatric therapist the freedom to treat multi-level patients with a single piece of equipment. The adjustable yoke glides along the column to accommodate the patient’s height. The added lift column allows the therapist to bring a patient to a standing position or aid in lifting the patient on to a treadmill for therapy. The standard 30 inch inside base width fits most treadmills and wheelchairs, and is wide enough to provide room for a therapist and infant patient to work on crawling techniques.

Walkable WK100 Gait Therapy with Ipad Mount & Anti-Scissoring Bar Options

What is the difference between Walkable and a typical walker? Walkable

Typical Walker

Walkable helps caregiver train patients to improve their gait performance.

Helps patients move from one plance to another.

Walkable’s unique harness promotes standing and prevents sitting during supported gait therapy.

Does not provide postural support and patient is at risk of falling.

Provides postural control as it reduces weight bearing. Ability to adjust for asymmetrical postural control. Caregivers can incrementally reduce postural support given to the patient as therapy progresses.

Not designed for control of posture.

Walkable is both a therapy device and an assistive device.

Functions as an assistive device.

Allows access to trunk and lower extremities so the clinician can provide manual assistance during walking over a treadmiill and/or overground.

Does not couple to any treadmill.

LiteGait Walkable Series

FREEDOM for Therapists INDEPENDENCE for Patients™ LiteGait Walkable was designed to facilitate a mulitude of therapeutic activites in the home or in therapy with children of many different diagnoses and at various functional levels. Walkable allows positioning of the upper body and reduced weight bearing during ambulation on and off a treadmill. Walkable allows the caregiver to control the conditions which give the child the best possible chance of learning coordinated movement. Walkable not only supports the child’s upright position but also corrects the posture.

Walkable WK100

The unique frame design of the Walkable allows access to the trunk and lower extremities so the caregiver can provide manual assistance during walking overground and/ or a treadmill when appropriate. The caregiver can assist the child in various balance or functional standing activities while providing continual posture and lower extremity queing.

Walkable supports the child rigidly above both shoulders providing control over the weight bearing status of each side of the body independently. Additionly four adjustable straps allow correction of asymmetric upper body posture to assure correct position during standing or ambulation. The harness comfortably transfers the load to the child’s abdomen area while still allowing full leg extension. Unlike training other systems, this unique design prevents seated posture during supported ambulation, promoting proper Balance Practice with patterns of walking. Walkable WK100 The wheeled base rolls over the ground and can be rolled over treadmills. This feature makes use of the timing provided by slow moving treadmills and allows provision of safe and proper walking by the patient. When the child is ready to practice ambulation skills overground, Walkable can be pushed smoothly along with the child thus providing a safe environment. Walkable is a dynamic stander and functions as both a therapy and assistive device reducing the need for multiple devices.

Walkable is growth adjustable so that it can be utilized with the child as he/she grows increasing the lifespan of the equipment with a growing child.

Walkable WK75 with Diaper Harness Option

The harness comfortably supports the child, and the locking straps allow adjustments to be made for walking symmetry, while providing a very enjoyable walking therapy experience.

The smaller, lighter design of the WalkAble allows a child to be safely supported while walking over ground or over treadmill in any environment, whether at home, in school, or in therapy. The unique design of WalkAble allows its supportive yoke to slide easily and safely down the upright post, allowing for control of posture and balance for even the youngest children, while a safety pin and two tightening knobs keep the yoke securely in its desired position. Additionally, the uniquely designed harness can be use without need for modificatio for both walking and crawling. Gait therapy sessions using a treadmill at speeds as slow as 0.1 mph have proven highly effective with the pediatric populations. In combination with the proper training program, WalkAble can help therapists and parents improve a patient’s gait patterns, posture, balance, muscle strength and overall endurance levels. WalkAble is being used successfully in homes, children centers, and rehabilitation facilities throughout the world.

The wheeled base is designed to fit over most smaller treadmills and is also perfect for over ground walking. LiteGait castors lock the device securely in place over a treadmill for performing gait therapy. Then, when patients are ready to practice the skills they have learned, LiteGait can be smoothly pushed over ground preventing falls and the fear of falling.

Adjustable Height

The manual adjustable height is easily changed by a simple pin system by the therapist or parent. The adjustable height can also be used to provide incremental adjustment of weight bearing according to the patient’s needs at a macro level whilst micro adjustments may be achieved through adjustment of the vertical straps attached to the harness.

LiteGait V

The LiteGait Veterinary Model LiteGait V works using the same principle as our Adult and Pediatric versions though for animals. It may be used over ground or over a treadmill and as a transfer device within the Vet Clinic. LiteGait Veterinary Model Research on adults and children with neurological disorders has shown that utilizing the concepts of Body Weight Support treadmill training (also known as Partial Weight Bearing Treadmill Training) can be an effective method in training or retraining patients to walk. Several years ago an innovative doctor of veterinary medicine who was also trained as a physical therapist asked if these concepts could be transferred to companion animals. The answer has resulted in the LiteGait®-V model (LiteGait-Veterinary). This unit can be used for quadrupeds weighing up to 200 pounds. The unit supports the trunk of the animal so that varying amounts of weight can be put on the limbs during gait training. Harnesses of different sizes are available for optimal fitting to individual animals.

LiteGait V Fully Supported

LiteGait V Adaptable Support Structure

A battery operated lift mechanism allows for positioning for a wide range of body sizes from small to giant breed dogs. The unit can be utilized to assist the animal in moving over ground or over a slow moving treadmill. In addition, in veterinary practice, the LiteGait-V has the advantage of serving as a transfer device to assist handlers in lifting the animal into standing position.

This FlexAble Yoke feature provides clinicians more treatment options by allowing for adjustability of the rigidity of the LiteGait yoke (supportive arms) with up to 5 inches of vertical travel with the simple turn of a knob. One can maintain the rigid yoke position or make it flexible, giving the patient the option to experience and react to the changes in vertical displacement while being safely supported in LiteGait. Especially beneficial for orthopedic patients, knee/ hip replacements, amputees, balance disorders and patients that are progressing rapidly in their LiteGait therapy treatment.

This option provides a wider or narrower base frame for the Adult LiteGait Range so the patient has more space in the feet area. In addition, it allows for LiteGait to be used with wider base frame rehabilitation treadmills.

The FreeDome is an accessory that incorporates a rotational pivot allowing the patient/ user to freely rotate in place beneath the yoke while remaining securely supported by the same harness. It can be locked in four 90-degree increment positions allowing patients to walk sideways or backward on or off the treadmill, or walk with assistance when facing out. The freedome yoke can be rotated by 360° so walking direction can be inverted or go sideways. When needed, it is fitted under the yoke, however the BISYM sensors cannot be used in combination with it.

This option provides a wider or narrower base frame for the Pediatric LiteGait Range so the patient has more space in the feet area. In addition, it allows for LiteGait to be used with wider base frame rehabilitation treadmills.

It can be fitted on LiteGait WalkAble JR200 and WalkAble WK100 devices and allows for a vertical electric lift of 18 (45cm) providing partial weight support

Reduces the equipment total height by 3.5 cm to fit under shorter frame therapy tables and plinths. Cannot be used in combination with the Gator Stool.

BiSym bilateral symmetry digital scale measures and displays the amount of weight bearing load supported to the right and left side of the body both in standing and as it changes throughout the gait cycle. The scale allows for accurate documentation and charting of patient progress. It is a great way to build patient confidence.

This option allows for increasing the height clearance for the frame under the column (by 7 cm to be precise) and it is useful when you want to use LiteGait on a taller base frame rehabilitation treadmill. Increases the total equipment height by 7.6 cm

It enables the physiotherapist to comfortably follow the patient while helping them during gait training. It is height adjustable and can be placed at the side (left or right) of the patient or behind them.

These can only be fitted to LiteGait pediatric versions as they come as standard on all other models. They can be used in combination with accessory AC0190 Stool and increase the overall equipment height by 5 cm

It allows for adjusting the patient’s step movement by providing a correct symmetrical stepping. The tension bands that are fitted to the patient’s feet can be adjusted to achieve a greater or smaller step range. It also allows the therapist to work on other body parts such as knees or hips to ensure the patients performs the correct movements. It can be used during therapy on floor and on the walker, as shown in the picture.

Thanks to their particular shape, these special support handles can take many different positions compared to the standard handles.

Harnesses are available for a wide range of patient heights and girths. In addition to the standard supplied vertical straps that attach the harness to the LiteGait Yoke, the LiteGait Harness consists of 2 components, the Harness itself which wraps around the waist and the groin piece.

With a LiteGait Harness patients can practice an entierly different type of movement.

iHarness and their related groin pieces and girth extenders are optional harness components for use with LiteGait. They are hand crafted using an impermeable fabric cover allowing for easy cleaning and disinfecting and featuring three adjustable horizontal straps for girth adjustment.

With a LiteGait Crawling Connecors that are attached to the LiteGait standard harnesses, patients can practice an entierly different type of movement.

Harness Girth extenders for girth are available for all harness sizes to add additional girth.

Leg straps can replace the groin piece and function as an abdicator strap. Pediatric straps feature 1” buckles, and adult straps feature 1 ½” buckles.

For infant sized children, a diaper harness is available and can be made to fit either WalkAble or LiteGait. This is the smallest pediatric harness at 6 ½” to 7” wide.

Q-Straps provide adjustable length elastic support that can provide your patient with pelvic cueing and support while in LiteGait. Features three resistances to provide the appropriate amount of cueing, where needed, Adjustable length, Retro-fit to all LiteGait harnesses, Multiple uses.

LiteGait Options & Accessories BiSym Digital Scale LiteGait Bisym allows clinicians to establish and monitor the amount of assistance given to the patient’s posture and balance. The LiteGait BiSym Digital Scale - bilateral (Bi) symmetry (Sym) scale measures and displays the amount of weight bearing support given to the patient on the right and left side of the body, in standing and as it changes throughout the gait cycle.

The real time monitoring of the support is possible through two load cells bilaterally positioned in the support arms of the units. The information is fed to the digital display monitor that processes and displays the information in pounds or kilograms of weight supported by the unit by the right or left arm as well as the total support. Display Mode Feeback Options: Right Support and Graphical % of Unweighing Left Support and Graphical % of Unweighing Difference (Right - Left) Total (Right + Left) Both Right and Left simultaneously

LiteGait BiSym Digital Scale Display Monitor

The BiSym allows clinicians to establish and monitor the amount of assistance given to the patient’s posture and balance. The unique design of LiteGait allows for bilateral measurement of the support, hence providing measures of symmetry and unilateral or bilateral improvement. The ability to specify the amount of support given to one side of the patient’s body through the adjustment of the harness allows the therapist to provide assistance only where it is needed. It also allows monitoring of patient use of the support and is an excellent biofeedback mechanism for cognitive patients.

The Graphical bar graph represents the value in the top row of the display monitor as a percentage of the specified weight (defaul value 100lb.) When the specified weight is therefore adjusted to the weight of the patient, this bar graph can therefore provide a percentage of support of the patient’s weight. While the BiSym is an excellent ad-on for all clinical settings for both documentation of progress and application of protocol, it is a must for all teaching and research settings. The BiSym includes a single display monitor with right, left and total support load selection switch, including autoshut-off, rechargeable battery and battery charger. One digital output port is provided for digital recording to a computer.

LiteGait Options & Accessories AutoStep AutoStep is a new device designed to assist therapists in the therapeutic treatment of gait with a variety of patients. From the high functioning patient who needs to work on the refinement of gait to the very low functioning patient who is unable to take independent steps, the AutoStep helps to cue the patient’s gait pattern. AutoStep was developed from a prototype created by two pediatric physical therapists. AutoStep reduces the burden of facilitation of gait for both pediatric and adult patients using walkers over ground, or LiteGait over ground or over treadmill, while providing a constant symmetric cue for the patient to achieve a more symmetrical gait pattern. Adjustable tension bands from the device attach to the patient’s feet and, through movement of the walker or LiteGait over ground or the device itself on the treadmill, it is able to promote an increased step length as well as facilitating lower extremity advancement and foot clearance. It also can be used as a tool to improve dissociation of the lower extremities, and provide a dynamic/active stretch to the legs.

AutoStep shown attached to walker over Ground

Most importantly with the tension bands attached to the feet and facilitating foot clearance and advancement, it gives the therapist the freedom to facilitate increased weight shifting, hip extension, stability in stance, and much more, all while maintaining proper body mechanics. Designed by therapists for therapists and their patients. • • • • • • • • • • • • •

Attaches to many walkers - including all Rifton® Pacers* Works with most LiteGait models - on and off the treadmill Multiple modules for different step lengths Allows therapist increased freedom to facilitate proper gait Accomodates patients with high or low tone with an adjustable tension band Allows both hip and knee flexion for LE advancement Allows therapist to maintain proper body mechanics Promotes increased stride length Promotes dissociation of the LE’s Promotes foot clearance during swing phase Designed to assist and train symmetrical stepping Focuses on an equal stride length bilaterally Allows for dynamic stretching/ROM for legs
