Nursery and Junior School Located on the main school campus with dedicated junior school buildings including nursery and outdoor play areas. Approximately 200 girls with 2 – 3 classes per year group. Nursery Pre-school education for *2 – 5 year-old girls and boys and wrap-around childcare. Fully qualified staff encourage learning through play.
Primary 1 (P1) 5 – 6 years Girls are our only focus for learning and teaching; we can make girls our priority. Primary 2 (P2) 6 – 7 years Primary 3 (P3) 7 – 8 years Primary 4 (P4) 8 – 9 years Small classes with individual class teachers enhanced by specialist teaching in Music, Physical Education, Art, and Modern Languages. This is all-round education with a particular specialism in Outdoor Learning. There is an extensive range of co-curricular activities and clubs with capacity for all. Primary 5 (P5) 9 – 10 years In the last year of the Junior School, there is increased focus on individual learning and responsibility with leadership roles.

Lower 6 (S5) 16 – 17 years Most girls take five subjects further, usually at Higher level. Girls select from a wide and flexible choice of subjects which cater for individual needs. The Scottish Higher is a university matriculation qualification and remains the gold standard for entry to Scottish universities. Increasingly, English universities are making unconditional offers to Scottish applicants with five (very good) Highers.
Approximately 175 girls with 3 to 4 classes per year group. Primary 6 (P6) 10 – 11 years The transition year moving from Junior School to Lower School. P6 is the final year of primary education and the start of three years in Lower School. The class teacher is supported by specialist teaching in Languages, Music, Art and Physical Education. Remove (P7) 11 – 12 years Our first year of secondary education and broad, general education starts a year earlier than most other schools in Scotland, with specialist secondary teachers for every subject. Lower 4 (S1) 12 – 13 years In this second year of secondary education, the girls begin Latin and have exposure to three Modern Languages, including Chinese, in addition to their main secondary language, French or Spanish. Sciences are taught as three separate subjects in dedicated Lower School laboratories.
Approximately 450 girls with 4 or 5 classes per year group. Upper 4 (S2) 13 – 14 years For this last year of broad, general education, girls select two (or three) languages to study during Upper 4. They later choose nine GCSE subjects for study over the next two years of Fifth Form. Lower 5 (S3) 14 – 15 years Girls pursue GCSE courses in nine subjects; the courses are examined and certificated at the end of Upper 5. Upper 5 (S4) 15 – 16 years Girls pursue GCSE courses in nine subjects; the courses are examined and certificated at the end of Upper 5.
Upper 6 (S6) 17 – 18 years A wide range of courses is available with the ability to design bespoke courses to suit specific needs and aspirations. Many girls take at least three Advanced Highers courses, or a combination of qualifications. Girls usually apply for university entry in the autumn term of Upper 6.
