About Us

Page 2

Established in 2012, Stitch Sprouts offers professional services to grow your brand, the highest quality yarns to fill your shelves, hundreds of patterns and books by popular designers, and dozens of unique handmade stitch markers.

Yarn In 2014 Stitch Sprouts launched our own yarn brand. Yellowstone is the first line to come out of the mill. Yellowstone is a hardworking and beautiful yarn, with a blend of wool and a touch of silk for strength and luster. Each skein contains 285 yards of 3-ply luxury. It’s the perfect yarn for texture, lace, colorwork, and cables. We offer 9 colors inspired by the beauty of the American wilderness. We are very excited to offer this classy and comfortable yarn to our customers to help create the projects of their dreams, and can’t wait to see what they create with it. You'll love having Yellowstone on your needles, hooks, and looms. Please be sure to share your finished projects with us via e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, or Ravelry! In addition to our own yarn, Stitch Sprouts is proud to be the exclusive wholesale distributor of Crabapple Yarns. All four Crabapple Yarn lines are beautifully hand-dyed here in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania and are perfect for everything from socks to shawls to sweaters.

Stitch Markers Stitch Sprouts now offers unique handmade stitch markers. Paper Pearls are made from recycled Stitch Sprouts catalogs. We hand roll and seal each and every unique pearl. Artsy stitch markers come in a variety of colorful and fun designs, or can be personalized with your company logo or a design of your creation. Snag-free stitch markers are seamless with colorful beads in matching colors and won’t catch even the finest yarns and threads.

Patterns With 20+ designers, Stitch Sprouts provides you with hundreds of patterns for any weight yarn. Our offerings include accessories, shawls, hats, socks, and sweaters. All our patterns are printed in full color on high quality bound stock. Patterns sell yarn!

New Designers

Carol Sunday (CS) Carol Sunday has been designing knitwear for fun for decades. Although her training was in engineering and medicine, and her livelihood had been as a visual artist, knitting was always the thing!

In 2008, out of an irresistible desire to spend more time with yarn and needles, she started Sunday Knits, her own line of classic luxury yarns, together with Carol Sunday designs, her true love and a venue where she combines her passions for pattern, color and fashion. Vogue Knitting magazine describes Carol’s designs as elegant and sophisticated. Her designs have been featured in Interweave Knits and Twist Collective. Carol likes to follow her own muse so particularly enjoys the artistic freedom of self publishing and always has several new works in progress.

Alex Tinsley (DR) of Dull Roar

knits, crochets, spins and designs in southeastern Michigan with her husband and two dogs who like to help by sleeping on the yarn balls. She has a passion for soft wools and semisolid colors, and her hats have their own dedicated dresser. She learned to knit in 2004 and has been making up her own designs pretty much ever since. She has been published internationally in a variety of books and magazines, most recently in an apocalyptic book of her own conception entitled “Doomsday Knits.”

Barbara Benson (BB) Despite

the fact that Atlanta, GA doesn’t have ideal knitwear weather, Barbara loves living and knitting in the South. Selfproclaimed as “a bit silly and a bit nerdy”, this often translates into her designs, mostly in the form of slightly crazy pattern names. From Science Fiction and Rock & Roll classics to quotable films, no resource is left untapped when it comes to inspiration. When it comes to the art world, her love for the Art Nouveau and Art Deco movements shines through with intricate stitch work and swooping shapes. Her focus on smaller accessory patterns was born from a desire to have instant gratification on a knitter’s timeline and an intense dislike for weaving in ends. When not knitting she can frequently be found wielding either a camera, a chef’s knife, or a Wii remote (with her son). Barbara has had patterns published in Twist Collective, Knitscene, Interweave Knits Holiday Gifts, Knit Edge, Knit Now, and Lace One-Skein Wonders. Her photography can be found in Knit Edge and the book Solefull Socks: Knitting from the Ground Up.

Sivia Harding (SH) has worked

with fiber and art since she can remember. Obsessed since youth, by adulthood, she dabbled in weaving, spinning, and dyeing, but only learned how to knit in the year 2000. Almost immediately, she began to design. She is known mainly for her exceptional lace and bead designs, and these days her patterns include accessories, garments, and imaginative Moebius creations. She is known as an enthusiastic, warm instructor, and really enjoys the cross-pollination of ideas that happens in a class setting. She feels she gets the better part of the bargain. She has been widely published in books and collections, including Jared Flood’s Wool People series, and online magazines such as Twist Collective and Knitty.

Ysolda Teague (YT) is a Scottish

designer who focuses on innovative construction methods and designs that are both enjoyable to knit and easy to wear. Her designs include adorable toys, beautiful accessories, and both adult and baby sweaters. Ysolda’s work has been featured in many leading publications including Twist Collective, Knitty and the books Knit Red and Fair Isle Style. With a wide range of patterns there is something for every customer. Popular shawls Ishbel, Damson and Marin motivate sales of luxury single skeins. The sweater making reference book Little Red in the City is used as a class resource by many stores and helps to turn those single skein purchasers into confident sweater knitters. Ysolda’s most recent book, The Rhinebeck Sweater, features the work of other popular designers including Gudrun Johnston and Amy Herzog and tells the stories of small scale American yarn production, encouraging knitters to substitute with interesting local yarns.
