We offer a balanced education where creativity, academic success and spiritual wellbeing walk hand-in-hand, helping your child discover their unique potential and exciting their interests. I hope you will join one of our tours so you can experience what sets us apart and see the many ways your child will thrive in our warm and caring environment.

Our Nursery offers a calm, steady and happy environment where the children will grow in confidence, are happy and at ease. The large open plan layout provides a wonderful space to encourage children to try new tasks and take on new challenges, from mark making that develops early writing, to a creative station to encourage freedom of thought, or an investigation table to evoke the inner scientist. We have also introduced tailored short-burst learning sessions, allowing children early access to phonics, maths and literacy skills. Our dream room is a lovely oasis of calm where children can take naps and relax during the day. The free flow to the outdoor area with a sandpit, mud kitchen, climbing equipment, water trays and scooters, allows the children to run, play and get muddy in the fresh air whatever the weather.
Welcoming
open minds and open hearts
l a u d i v i d Anppinr oach a Developing a strong and personal bond with each individual character is at the heart of what we offer. This bond and understanding provides a solid foundation from which the children can grow in independence to become confident, articulate learners. Your child is unique and we believe that their learning should reflect their individuality. All children receive individual focus from trained teachers who tailor their programme to reflect the child’s current needs and next steps at any given time. Every child feels safe and secure knowing that they have someone to talk to if they feel unwell or sad. Just like home, we will notice the small things that matter the most to them as a result of our individual approach.

g n i n r a e to life Taking the children outdoors always brings their learning to life. With access to our own little Forest School located a few metres from the nursery door, the children can connect with and learn from nature. Being in the ‘Forest’ is always fun, come rain, come shine. Creating art out of leaves and twigs, counting pebbles, discovering creepy crawlies or climbing trees, our Forest School programme allows the children to get muddy, explore and have fun. In essence, to be children!

We understand the importance of a seamless transition from Nursery to Reception, for both parents and children, when embarking on this exciting new phase of children’s educational journey. This is why St James Preparatory School offers a place automatically to Nursery children, which many of our parents say has given them peace of mind. St James is committed to ensuring a smooth and joyful transition into Reception. We take pride in fostering a sense of belonging, continuity, and a supportive environment for every child. Children will find familiar faces, friendly staff, and a nurturing atmosphere that makes them feel right at home.
