Kerry Sullivan ‘81
St. Joseph Hill Academy Director of College Counseling | Law Teacher
Kerry Sullivan was born and raised on the North Shore of Staten Island. The 6th of 7th children, the Sullivan siblings learned how to play tennis shortly after learning to walk, due to the Walker Park tennis courts locale right behind their childhood home. The value of a Catholic education was so important to her parents, and she attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, and went on to Saint Joseph Hill Academy High School, class of 1981.
At Hill, Kerry was very involved in athletics, as a member of the Varsity Basketball and Tennis teams, as well as the Drama Club, Forensics Team and the Hill Singers. Belonging to several clubs, provided many opportunities to develop lifelong skills and friends. Her dedication and hard work in and out of the classroom had her recognized by Hill as the scholar-athlete awardee for the Varsity Club award in 1981. Kerry’s involvement and commitment to the Hill community was foundational to her continued growth and development.
Kerry went on to attend Vassar College, where she earned an AB in Drama, and then New York Law School, where she earned a Juris Doctor degree – and where she met her husband, Michael, and yes married a man with the same last name. For twenty years, Kerry had a successful career as a litigation partner at several Manhattan law firms. In September 2002, she accepted an invitation from Sister Raimonde Bartus, to teach a College Law class at Hill, and shortly after transitioned into the role of College Counselor to fill a temporary opening. Twenty-two years later, as Hill’s Director of College Counseling, she has advised thousands of Hilltoppers and their families on their college journeys, advocating for them to receive the maximum amount of scholarship dollars. Given her athletic background, she especially enjoys working with scholar-athletes from Hill to ensure that they receive scholarship funds for their performance in the classroom, as well as their athletic talents.
Coaching and playing basketball and tennis has also been a major part of her life and she has had the privilege of coaching CYO basketball and Spartan league teams and running clinics at Sacred Heart. For several years, she played basketball for the Abbey Pub and Duffy’s Tavern teams and she has played tennis for many years at Hillside Swim Club and the College of Staten Island.
Kerry continues her community involvement. She is a member of the Financial councils for Sacred Heart Parish and Hill and serves as an alumnae volunteer for Vassar College and is a member of the St. Joseph Hill Academy 1919 Society. Kerry also coaches Hill’s Mock Trial team, and serves as an Adult Leader for Hill’s Kairos Retreat program.
Kevin G. Moran Manager
John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals
Kevin G. Moran has been with the John Vincent Scalia Home for Funerals, since 1989 and he is the manager of the family’s Matawan NJ Funeral Home. Kevin holds the title of CFSP, (Certified Funeral Service Practitioner), which is one of the most prestigious titles in the Funeral Profession. Kevin needed to complete numerous hours of Continuing Education as well as a strong commitment to public service to attain and hold this distinction. Kevin is also a Certified Funeral Service Celebrant. In addition to his role as a funeral director, Kevin taught at the American Academy Mc Allister Institute of Funeral Service, in Manhattan, from 2000 to 2019 as an Adjunct both on Campus and with the On Line Program the school offered.
Kevin is a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Staten Island Council, a Member of Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 4, where he served as President of the Irish Building Fund and was the recipient of the first-ever Irishman of the Year Award. Kevin also was feted as Chief Brehan at the Staten Island Irish Fair.
Kevin currently serves on the Board of St. Joseph by the Sea High School. He is a Board member of the Metropolitan Funeral Directors Association as well as the Catholic Cemetery Guild. Kevin was a member of the Board at St. Joseph Hill Academy, for 9 years, where he served as Chair of the Finance Committee for 7 years, until 2023, when his term expired He served on the Board of the St Joseph by the Sea Family Association and was President from 2001-2009. He served on the Building Committee for the New St. Thomas the Apostle Church and as Co Chair of the Major Gifts Campaign of Holy Child Church’s Building Campaign. He is also a member of the New York State Funeral Directors Association, the New Jersey State Funeral Directors Association, and the Monmouth /Middlesex Counties Funeral Directors Association.
For the past few years Kevin has been actively involved in the battle on drug addiction. He routinely speaks at various forums throughout New York and New Jersey on the dangers and effects of overdose deaths and the overwhelming effects that these deaths have on the family. He has been featured in articles which have appeared in the New York Times, The Guardian which is a news publication in Europe, he has also been featured on Fox News, WPIX Channel 11,WABC Radio and was interviewed for a television documentary from a news company from Australia.
A native of Queens, Kevin Graduated St. Francis College in Brooklyn with a BS in Business Management with concentrations in Finance and Marketing. Kevin and his wife Cecilia, reside in Pleasant Plains, are members of St. Joseph St. Thomas & St. John Neumann Parish. He and Cecilia have two daughters and three granddaughters.

Currently serving as the Vice President at Tillman Brokerage an insurance agency located on Staten Island, I balance a successful career with the joys of family life. Additionally, as a member of Richmond County Country Club, I actively contribute to various committees such as House and Grounds, Greens, Risk Management, and Member Relations. Beyond my professional and club commitments, we are parishioners of St. Teresa's and reside in Todt Hill. Dedicated to fostering strong connections both within our community and personally, I also lead the Golf Program for children in kindergarten through 5th grade, aiming to inspire young minds through the joy of the sport.
