Journal of The Storyteller
I don’t know how long it has been, but I haven’t been home for years now. I have come to terms with the fact that I might never see my home again.
In my many years here on Lacuna, I have written many stories, and created these journals. The journals contain my observations on the many creatures that live here.
I know that the ones who really want to obtain these journals, will succeed in doing so. But, I know that what they are truly after are the stories. Luckily, my journals do not contain any of the stories I have written. But I suppose they contain some hints.
The reason I made these journals is that if someone has the same tragic fate as I, they might have some guidance.
That is why those are scattered on Lacuna.
If you need help, try to find some of the people mentioned in here. They might help you. But, under no circumstances should you accept help from the watcher.
She is the creator of Lacuna, a goddess of nature. A cruel woman who has no empathy, and one who views her subjects as objects.
Stay away from her!
Stay safe. Don’t stay in one place too long. If you wish to learn of the stories, you need to come find me. For only I know the truth. These stories are always with me, even without the written pages.
- The StorytellerRaveerie
The people of Lacuna are known to have a soul stone. You could compare it to a soul. Every race has their own soul stone. However, those of the Raveerie are one of the rare ones. Theirs is crafted from this red rock that can be found on Magara, the island of the Raveerie. It’s entire surface is made this rock.
Rhodos Clock
The watcher carved the Raveerie from this rock as it was as strong as it was durable.
The Raveerie would be the protectors of the Drunic. Later they would be known as the protectors of the people
Being one of the first people on Lacuna makes their history long. So long that some things are already forgotten.
The brother’s Clock were a great help in discovering things about the Raveerie. Especially Orrion his massive study was helpful.
The perks one has as an emperor are astonishing!
Orrion Clock
The skin of the Raveerie is mostly red like the rock it was created from.
The legends speak of the first ones having horns. If you still have some type of horns today you have a great lineage.
The Raveerie once ruled Lacuna. They won the war against the Nefealy, and therefor were banished.
But once their ally, the dragons, betrayed them, the Raveerie lost their power.
In this day and age, no one follows the watcher anymore. Instead, Orrion rules as emperor of Lacuna. He hopes to create a time where the people can live in peace. He wishes to bring union among the people.
Note to self: never pick a physical fight with a Raveerian. You will, without a doubt, fail in besting them.
Norvari
After the watcher created a protector for her people, she needed one for herself.
As a goddess of nature, her power thrives on the wellbeing of the planet. The better the planet, the stronger she is. She created the Norvari. Their soul stones are made from blue crystals that hail from the waters from the seven mystical waterfalls.
They would be the protectors of nature!
Nowadays, if you ask anyone, they will tell you that all the Norvari have gone extinct. But nothing could be further from the truth!
There is the south tribe, where Sage her family is from, they are overal the more friendly towards strangers. I personally think it;s the climate that makes them happier.
Then there is the north tribe, who are very isolated and cold towards strangers. However, I can’t blame them for being too cautious as Zinzi lost her mother at a young age because of hunters.
A fun tradition the tribe chiefs follow is that the first born will inherit some sort of variation of their parents’ name.
Zinzi was named after her mother Zinziana.
ZinziThe Norvari, unlike shapeshifters, can only shift into wolves. The legends speak of a wolven skin that was a gift from the watcher as a reward for mastering elemental magic. Over time they fused together, creating these wolf people.
They can shift at will and are much larger than the wolves we know. However, in human from Norvarian’s cannot hide their tail and ears. They cannot suppress certain parts of the wolf within them.
It is truly fascinating! But, there is also a dark side that clouds this race.
Revini Hood
There are these haunting creatures called Blood hounds. They are even bigger than the Norvarian wolves. They kill for sport as their diet consists of ghost cherries from the ghost cherry blossom tree. They often get mistaken for the Norvarian wolves, but in my opinion, they share no similarities. They cannot shift and are mindless creatures that have their soul stones corrupted by the ghost cherries. They only have the look of a wolf.
Then there are the city wolves which are Norvarian’s who have lost the ability to shift, and they are commonly found in cities hence their name. They are considered outcasts from their tribes.
Revini is a special case. This sea captain that slays all sorts of beasts has a lot of rumours circulating around her. Some say her ears trophies from a hunt on Blood hounds. Others say she is a Blood hound who learned to shift.
Of course, she wouldn’t tell me the truth as it wouldn’t work in her favor.
The traditional Norvari follow the watcher but they worship nature above all else. There is one place I haven’t seen on Lacuna which I don’t think I will ever see. The seven mystical waterfalls.
The Norvari consider this holy ground and they will not let outsiders sully the magical waters of Lacuna. According to Zinzi the water is a mixture of blues and purples.
She told me not to be upset the water flows through all of Lacuna, her rivers and streams. However, the water is the purest in the mountains. The water in the cities are way to polluted to study and therefor most of its magical effects have been lost. This disrespect for nature is another reason the Norvari stay away from the other races.
Elementalists & Mages
On Lacuna there are many different magic users. The two most dominant ones are the mages and elementalists. There is a very clear distinction between the two, besides their ranking. Mages use tomes and scrolls for their magic. While elementalists use the magic they are born with, their power comes from within themselves. It is truly remarkable!
On Lacuna you aren’t really recognized as a magic user unless you are in the possession of a hate. However, you can only require one if you can finish Cozen academy.
Magic users who are part of a court often have a have, otherwise their status would be too low. They hat is part of their identity and you will never see the same hate twice.
I wonder what kind of hate I would have.
Mages prefer a more modern, man-made design for their staffs. They come in all sorts of shapes and sizes. From hand wands to big staffs.
Elementalists prefer bigger and more natural staffs. Since their magic comes from within, they also use the staff as a walking support.
Note to self: address only magic users that wield a staff as an elder. Sage explained to me that magic gets harder with age and the elders like the support of a staff.
Out of all the magic users I have met, it was a great honour to meet the Amore siblings. They are the most powerful elementalists on Lacuna.
They are born with a natural talent for elemental magic. Sharing blood of the Norvari and a powerful wizard. Their power is almost equally as strong as that of the watcher herself. This is why most people seek guidance from them.
Sage Jewel
I could hardly stop shaking. I was both scared and excited.
Another thing Sage taught me about how to keep mages and elementalists apart is their eyes. Their eyes change colour whenthey use magic, which is why elementalists need to learn to control their emotions first before they can even begin to control their magic
Shapeshifters
Shapeshifters can be found all over Lacuna but they need seemed to have formed their own society in Ocburn.
It’s surrounded by it’s paincone trees and the red wall of the temple. Just follow the sand path and you should find the golden doors.
What I found most astonishing about them is that they mainly shapeshift into a fox. The reason for this is this so called goddess of the sun? This doesn’t exist, there is only one goddess on Lacuna. I try to stay away from Ocburn, it is a deluded cult.
I don’t understand what Lucille is looking for in this village. I hope she is not part of this cult. She wouldn’t last a day.
Sage her right hand man, Nolan, is also a shapeshifter. He often shifts into a raven. Watch out for the raven because he tells the wolf where you are and what you are up to.
Lucille Wyk Nolan Ciar (Shifted)Drunic
The Drunic are made in the image of the watcher. They are her most beloved people.
The Drunic are tall and slender. Build like leaves; delicate and light. Compared to men, they are a whole head taller than us!
The Raveerie were created for them, to protect and keep them safe. They are very devout to the watcher, even after she abandoned them.
Ryla Nightshade
After the watcher left them, they became isolated. Not by their own choice but because no one wanted to be around the people who still worshiped a goddess who abandoned her people. Horrible things happened after that. The Drunic became prisoners of the Silver cities. I have tried to enter the Silver cities, despite warnings from Brinley and Ryla and I should have listened to the girls.
Soldrune
Despite having the biggest growing population of Lacuna, the history of the Soldrune is badly documented.
I think that is because they aren’t loyal to anyone. They will follow you until someone better comes along. They take any opportunity to stay in power.
It’s understanable, their lives are not easy. They are products of bad experiments which caused their soul stones to get corrupted.
After the watcher abandoned the Drunic, they were enslaved by the Soldrune and a tyrant ruled over the Seven cities.
He took the throne by force, thinking he had killed all of the royal Drunic he could find but one escaped his grasp.
Just like the Blood hounds, the Soldrune are in a constant need for bloodshed, or in their case, blood consumption.
They have developed sharp fangs, however there are differences.
The females have smaller ones. If you are born a Soldrune, you tend to have small bottom fangs as well.
But if you are turned into a Soldrune, you only have two small fangs. They are seen as literal leeches.
Widarr escaped to Moonlight falls with his girlfriend Lily. Here they tragically met their end not by the hands of Redfurt but by his sister-in-law Katarina.
Luckily Brinley and Ryla survived the attack. The two sisters have meant a lot for the Drunic and their freedom.
It wasn’t until Cedric defeated his father, Redfurt, in combat. Releasing the Seven cities from his tyranny,
Soon after Cedric and Brinley were wed, they united Moonlight falls and the Seven cities and renamed them the Silver cities.
Cedric Sylvester
Brinley Nightshade
They had trouble with not kissing each other while I did their portrait. I had to scold them quite a bit and they couldn’t stop giggling.
Huemuns
Sadly, in the last couple of years, the magic of Lacuna has started to fade.
The main reason for this are the Huemuns. They had enough of being bottom feeders and started to discriminate against anything magic related.
They want to rule Lacuna and cause a lot of trouble for Orrion. I don’t see how they can rule anything when they can’t even work together as one race.
Asemist Storm
Rose Storm
The main problem is that there are too many differences between the people.
There are the supporters of the Huemuns and that of the magic creatures. Not all Huemuns support house Grifoni in their hunt for ultimate control. The poor and the rich are also constantly at each other’s throat.
Rose leads the rebellion that hides in Starfell city. She stands with Orrion. Meanwhile her sister, Asemist, believe the made up lies of the Grifoni family.
However there is also a neutral side, but I don’t think it’s recommendable.
The house Re’more does not stand with neither the Huemuns or magic creatures. Despite being Huemun themselves.
The name Re’more is feared and respected. Their family consists of assassins, but that’s not really that uncommon. The main reason is their mental state.
Their mansion stands in the Toxic swamps and is most likely the cause of their mental instability.
They are dangerous and you should only look for them when you are a last resort. You can find them by the gold coin, that is their signature.
Dilara and Midnight Pumpkin are probably your best best. But talking to them might be troublesome as if finding them wasn’t hard enough.
This isn’t even the main reason why Huemuns are hated. It is because they have round ears. They are believed to have upset the watcher, and so their pointy ears where clipped, as the watcher has pointy ears herself and she can’t have them taint her image. I don’t know if this legend is true.
Dilara Re’more Midnight PumpkinNefealy
In history Lacuna has known three separate watcher. The goddess the self-proclaimed god and the watcher chosen by the people.
The Nefealy have always followed this self-proclaimed god because Aspen is the one who created the Nefealy.
He had to be the new watcher because he, just like the watcher, could create beings. He called them his “angels”. He would bestow anyone he deemed worthy enough with a pair of wings. The watcher had the Drunic and he had the Nefealy.
Don’t be fooled by his tales. He was nothing but a liar. Angels do not exist, neither do the Nefealy. Aspen was nothing but an illusionist who put spells on these wooden contraptions to make his words believeable.
And I will give it to him, his work and his words are very convincing. Even up close, they look and feel like real wings but it is all a facade.
The Nefealy lived in his little fantasy world.
Holy Knight GuardianHe was the reason for the Nefealy and Raveerie war.
For this war he created two types of angels. The Holy knights and the Guardians. The knights would fight in the war while the guardians were protecting the followers of Aspen.
Lyra was one of his devoted followers. She had earned her place as a guardian. But displease the watcher and you will taste his wrath.
On Lacuna there is this phenomenon which is very similar to that of a shooting star.
However, no one is wishing on these stars. Instead, they pray for the angel to have a swift death. If the fall didn’t kill them, the shadow hunters most certainly would.
Lyra Stone
When I asked Lyra if she felt happy that Reafan saved her life that night, she could not answer me. Adjusting to her new reality while her old one was destroyed so brutally could not have been easy on anyone.
After her banishment from Uri, she learned that Reagan had defeated Aspen with help of the dragons. And the peopke were quick to pick as the new watcher. As a devout follower, Lyra followed him as well.
Despite everything she was the one who won eventually. But, nothing less is to be expected from the former empress of Lacuna. She is the reason the people of Lacuna let the watcher go and proved to them that the now ruling emperor would make Lacuna prosper once again.
Dragon warriorsRidley
Dragpm warriors could be any race really. What makes you a dragon warrior is that you are connected to a singular dragon sould. You are able to summon it and some really skilled dragon warriors can even solidify the soul. Making it feel like a living breathing dragon!
Sunstone Shade Belladonna
Dawnbreaker
The dragon warriors are often a grouple of four to five people. They are the protectors of the dragon priestess, Lilianna. Dragon priests cannot fight or kill dragons, they are too delicate for that. That’s why they have their dragon warriors to protect them. The thing that sets the priests apart from their warriors is that they can collect any lost dragon soul. But they are resting place for the sould, so even if they have their abilities, they rarely use their power. It does give them perks such as eternal youth and the wisdom of a thousand years.
Raiden Lavaros Fern (Vala)Every dragon warrior bears the mark of the dragon. It looks like a weirdly shaped birth mark. Maybe what I saw in it, isn’t even the true dragon mark. I wish I could study more dragon warriors, so that I could have a better representation of the marks. So far I can conclude that the marks look like their dragon.
