‘Heart & Soul’ Arts Festival 21-27 June 2021
Welcome Our annual Arts Festival, kindly supported by JS Sound and Light, commences on Monday 21 June 2021 in venues across the College campus, including an outdoor stage and our wonderful Chapel. Last year the Arts Festival was moved to an online platform due to the national lockdown. It explored how artists young and old across the globe connected, collaborated and created during such challenging times. If you haven’t yet visited the online festival there’s still time, as the site remains on the College website: https:// sites.google.com/stjos.co.uk/artsfestival2020 . This year the Festival returns with gusto. The Prime Minister has announced the Government’s cautious roadmap to ease lockdown restrictions in England, with limitations on outdoor theatres and larger performances in outdoor venues being lifted from 17 May. It is hoped that by 21 June 2021 all legal limits on social contact will be removed. The Arts Festival, therefore, will be taking place in the physical world and I invite you to attend the wonderful events we have lined up. With its theme of ‘Heart & Soul’, this year’s event will offer a message of hope and love through a celebration of the students’ art, music, drama, public speaking, poetry and dance. The Festival will frame our young artists, performers and debaters not as victims of the Covid lockdowns or ‘the lost generation’ but as the creators of joy and optimism. We hope you will join us for some of the hugely varied programme to celebrate the wealth of artistic and cultural diversity within our community. Alongside the headline events there will be numerous artistic workshops and enrichment activities for the whole College to enjoy.
We look forward to welcoming you to St Joseph’s College Arts Festival 2021. Victoria Harvey Vice Principal Co-curricular Start as you mean to go on
