Rugby Academy Rugby is engraved into the school’s DNA and St Joseph’s is proud of producing professional athletes for the UK Premiership & Championship and the French PRO 14, in addition to some 15 England, Wales and Scotland capped players. This culture is supported by what is considered one of the strongest coaching groups in UK schools. Players compete in a challenging block fixture list and National Cup. St Joseph’s works closely with Northampton Saints and has produced 20+ capped internationals and professional rugby players. Our coaching and playing teams are supported by an array of technology. We are the first college in the world to be supported by Playtek and engage with their newly-formed Athlete Management System, Integrated GPS and Video Analysis Software.

Netball Academy Netball is the newest performance focus sport at St Joseph’s College. The academy operates as a fully integrated programme for girls within an educational pathway. The elite netball academy will support a limited number of high achieving netball players with scholarship awards, which are dependent on an interview, references and meeting the College’s admissions criteria. The Netball Academy is led by St Joseph’s College Head of Netball, Miss Emily Wingate, current Suffolk Rockets Coach and National League player. The school proudly boasts a number of pupils across the age groups who have been selected for the Suffolk Netball Performance County and Satellite Academy pathways. St Joseph’s has also produced athletes for the Superleague Mavericks and East of England pathways, and who have represented the Mavericks at U17 level. The Academy accepts students from Year 7 to Sixth Form entry (USA: grade 6-11).

Cricket Academy The elite cricket academy will support a limited number of high achieving cricket players with scholarship awards, which are dependent on an interview, references and meeting the College’s admissions criteria. The Academy operates as a fully integrated programme for boys and girls within an educational pathway. It is led by St Joseph’s College Head of Cricket, Mr Elliot Tyler, current Cricket County Coach, assisted by Mr Matthew Hunn, old boy of St Joseph’s College and Kent County cricketer (full time professional).

• Around 3 hours of training/playing per week from September through to • March with an increase of up to 10 hours per week from March through to July • Access to PlayerTek athlete management system, video analysis and GPS • Premier independent school for sport in the Eastern region • Programme second to none in the UK outside the professional club environment • The Academy accepts students from Year 7 to Sixth Form entry (USA: grade • 6-11). Football Academy The academy operates as a fully integrated programme for boys and girls within an educational pathway. It is led by St Joseph’s College Head of Football, Mr Darren Eadie, former Norwich City & Leicester City midfielder, and member of Glenn Hoddle’s full England squad.

Scholarship opportunity The Elite Sports Academy will support a limited number of high achieving sportsmen and women with scholarship awards, which are dependent on an interview, references and meeting the College’s admissions criteria. Sport at St Joseph’s College is fully integrated with school life and is overseen by the Director of Sport, Mr Anthony O’Riordan.
Sports Scholar Support Sports Scholars have access to dedicated coaches, with coaching fully integrated into College life. Coaching sessions will take place both at the College and at tailored external training sessions. The coaching staff will be present at the College throughout the school day; College staff will be present, when appropriate, at off-campus training sessions. We are immensely proud of our focused state of the art gym, designed and built by Perform Better, supplier for St George’s Park, Manchester City and Saracens, to name a few. Our coaching and playing teams are supported by an array of technology. Mentoring The College’s Sports Department has a wealth of experience in professional sport and is primed to support the mental and technical aspects of the game through performance profiling and analysis in partnership with outside clubs. The College has access to ‘Game Break’ software and is able to facilitate individual and team video analysis. Outside of sport, we pride ourselves on being able to support all high achieving student-athletes to take on the challenges that life and education can bring. The College has an outstanding pastoral system to provide support and guidance. Students and their parents will regularly meet the College’s Assistant Principal, Director of Sport, Mr O’Riordan, to discuss student progress, ambitions and performance both on and off the field.
