St. Luke’s competes in the Fairchester Athletic Association (FAA) and New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC). There are 19 varsity teams across fall, winter, and spring athletics.

Graduation Requirements

An exceptional education that inspires a deep love of learning, a strong moral compass, the commitment to serve, and the confidence to lead.

Students graduating from St. Luke’s complete a minimum of 20 credits, which must include the following core requirements: • 4 years of English • 3 years of history, math, science, world language • 1 year of art, music, or theatre • 5 health mini-course units • 20 hours of community service per year in the Upper School

Above & Beyond St. Luke’s School is a secular, college-preparatory day school for grades 5-12 in New Canaan, Connecticut. A combination of challenging academics and outstanding community support distinguishes St. Luke’s and encourages students to go above and beyond their own expectations. St. Luke’s fosters intellectual and moral growth, preparing students for college and giving them the tools they need for success, leadership, and service in the world.

Center for Leadership St. Luke’s Center for Leadership (CFL) advances the School’s mission by helping students develop exceptional leadership skills. Students learn to identify, pursue, and achieve goals. They develop the confidence to lead and make a difference—with competence and compassion.

Honor Code The School’s Honor Code, written by St. Luke’s students, sets a high standard for student behavior and emphasizes character and leadership. All students commit to uphold the tenets of the Honor Code: honesty, respect, kindness, and responsibility.

Graduates are competing at the college level in Division I and III in baseball, basketball, football, golf, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, softball, squash, swimming, tennis, track & field, and water polo. Visual & Performing Arts St. Luke’s offers more than 40 courses in the visual arts, music, and theatre. The newly-opened Arts Wing offers an art gallery and studio space for fine arts, photography, ceramics, and graphic design. The state-of-the-art Seldin Performing Arts Center and Black Box Theatre host eight theatrical productions a year including ones performed by the Advanced Acting Class. Students are actors, set designers, and tech crew members.

Honors & Accolades St. Luke’s students achieve at the highest levels both in and outside the classroom. St. Luke’s Athletics has won 26 championships and tournaments in the past five years. The School’s Theatre Department has won nine Halo Awards in the past three years. St. Luke’s Upper School Debate Team won the Connecticut State trophy and sent students to the World Debating Championships in South Africa and Hong Kong. www.stlukesct.org

CLASSICAL SCHOLARS Participants undertake an enriched study of classical humanities, intensive Greek, and AP Latin. A senior-year research project completes the curriculum. Example of a recent topic: Sexuality and Gender in Medea. GLOBAL SCHOLARS Seniors selected as Global Scholars complete an in-depth analysis of a global issue, extensive language study, and an interdisciplinary capstone project. Example of a recent topic: Pharmaceutical Drug Testing in Developing Nations.

Advanced Placement & Honors Courses Honors courses are offered in each academic discipline in the Upper School except for Mandarin, which offers honors only at Level IV.

STEM SCHOLARS The STEM curriculum includes the study of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Students complete a set of core courses and a year-long research project in an approved field of study. Example of a recent topic: Mining Novel RNA Sequences to Further Map Human Transcriptome. INDEPENDENT RESEARCH PROJECTS Working one-on-one with a faculty advisor, students may pursue a semester-long or year-long independent study, culminating in a final presentation. Example of a recent topic: Video Game Production.
