Another academic year has come to a close. I am grateful that we have been able to sail through what has been an extremely tough year for many schools around the world. Our school not only faced the challenges of setting protocols to deal with a new, more contagious strain of the COVID-19 virus in Thailand, but more importantly, to find new ways to support both the students and the teachers in their learning and instruction whilst embracing a new normal.

Despite facing various trials, our students’ academic achievement this year has been very momentous as we received seven top awards for our students’ remarkable performance in their Cambridge examinations. Well done, Awardees! Furthermore, in our school development, the most significant event of this academic year has been the construction of St. Mark’s Srinakarin campus which is expected to finish by the end of next academic year. We are indeed looking forward eagerly to see the completion of our new campus.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our parents for the support and partnership during this difficult year. Thank you to those who assisted our students during their remote learning and helped them persevere through our virtual classrooms. Your endless hours of chaperoning, organising, and doing whatever was necessary to support students – both at home and at school –is truly appreciated.

Many thanks to the teaching faculty and administrative staff for another wonderful and productive school year. It has not been easy to teach remotely and even more so in a hybrid learning situation. Our school would not be able to complete the year smoothly without your continuous energy, skills and devotion. Thanks again and well done to an incredible group of professionals.

A final word to St. Mark’s students: Thank you for all your effort and perseverance throughout the school year. It is always a joy to see your laughter and hear your polite greetings. I am grateful for your resilience, insights and talents, and I pray that you will use your ability for the greater good. My best wishes to our graduating high schoolers whom I will miss greatly. We hope you will come back and visit.

I look forward to welcoming you all back, refreshed, for what will be an exciting, new academic year. Until then, here’s wishing you love, laughter and learning.

OUR STUDENTS

It has been a great year in kindergarten! I have been blessed to get to know this group of students. They have grown academically and have worked hard this year learning the alphabet, numbers, and writing. They were able to overcome any challenges and difficulties of school with confidence.

They have grown as individuals as well. They have learned how to behave in class and how to get along with the other students. Even in these trying times they have adapted well to learning online. I know they will do well wherever they go next. I know you will continue to grow more and more and achieve great things. I love you all and I will miss you.

We started our school year with uncertainty. It took us a while to observe and wait for the safest time to begin our formal classes. Although we were delayed for 2 months before we began our school year, I think that was the best option we had taken.

As we began our classes online in mid-October, the Covid situation was getting better, and as the months passed by, we shifted to onsite learning. Though there were transitions between online classes and face-to-face learning, we were extremely grateful that the parents and the pre-prep students were patient and supportive of one another. We were very lucky to have a wonderful Pre-prep batch this year.

Even as the pandemic is still going on, our pre-prep kids enjoyed learning with us regardless of online or onsite learning. It lifted one’s heart whenever they said that they had fun learning and that they loved coming to school. The majority of these children almost had perfect attendance throughout the whole school year.

It’s amazing how these youngsters grow so fast, how they try to handle and solve problems on their own, how they help each other without hesitation and with open arms, how they treated each other like siblings, and especially how they respect each other as individuals.

To all the parents and guardians of our Pre-prep kids, I’m thankful for the time and effort you have exerted and the never-ending encouragement in supporting your child’s journey throughout the academic year.

To my pre-prep students, thank you for the amazing year that we all spent together, for every moment that I treasure, and for the love that binds us together. It was most definitely a fulfilling schoolyear! I will surely miss you all!

It has been a challenge this school year, having to start the class online but I thank God that we made it through.

It is such a privilege to know everyone as we spent time in class; learning, working and having fun in and outside the classroom.

I hope that you all had a great time in preparatory class. I pray that all will do well as you move up to the next level.

Thank you, girls, (Pawaritsara, Runchida, Mira, Promphun, Rinnada, Pakannasorn) and boys (Thniz, Karnkawin, Hayden, Natphasith, Paphawin, Tanasith, Aswin, Matthew, Harinwat, Gawin Finlay, Chayakorn) for the wonderful experience. You all made my 11 year of teaching here at school memorable. God bless you all.

I will never forget the first day I met year 2. Who knew we would grow so close? I am glad that I was their homeroom teacher.

Year 2 is a class full of high achievers with a wide range of personality types making them an interesting class. English is their second language, yet they speak fluently. Their curiosity made them better at learning as they love asking questions. There were students who struggled at the beginning of the term and eventually caught up with their friends. They are hard-working and responsible students who enjoy drawing, colouring, and folding origami.

It has been a wonderful year watching their personalities and interests grow. We had fun together celebrating birthdays and playing tag. I wish they will never forget the memories we share. I love you, my little lemmings.

Year 3 I have truly enjoyed guiding and teaching my homeroom. We may have few moments in devotion time but they are really precious moments. In our time together, you learned and I learned at the same time. Differences may be one of our obstacles but we prove it that it can be settled when we listen to one another. You learned what it meant to be friend. You played with others exchanged different stories during our devotion time, worked through our problems and practised patience. Our time together is complete. Before you go please remember that I believe in you and you are all capable of great things.

Are the Year Four students of 2021- 22 prepared for Year Five?

Absolutely! In fact, their growth and development has progressed exponentially part and parcel with the trials and tribulations of their academic year.

From taking learning into their own hands at home to returning back to the real classroom has displayed resilience, robust character and the progressive hope that tomorrow will be a better day.

With this mindset, the students' world has fewer limitations than we think and they will benefit from it as Intelligent, Emotional, Adaptive and wonderful human beings.

Thank you Year Four for another outstanding year at St. Mark's Australian International School.

This Y5 is one of the most behaved classes I have ever taught. All the students show good manners and respect to others. Some students have been studying at St. Mark s international school since early years. Now they have grown up and started to exhibit more and more their potentials and abilities. It’s amazing to see how they have transformed from an innocent toddler to a confident and capable child. Some students have come in their early primary years. They have made friends with each other and studied together. All of them have made efforts to learn and grow here. All of them shared happiness and tears in their journey of learning and growing. My best wishes to all Y5 students for their future learning and life.

Even if the journey may have been difficult for some of you this year, I admire your brave efforts. I hope the highs and lows you've had this year have strengthened you. Always take the road less travelled and arm yourself with diligence, patience, tenacity, grit, enthusiasm, and most importantly, kindness.

Regardless of what has happened, I believe you are all amazing children who are just waiting to be unfolded. Simply choose to be kind and humble at all times.

I wish you all of the happiness and success that life has to offer. God bless you all, and may He always guide and direct you in the right path.

It has been yet another fruitful period for year 7s academic and personal development.

Through their quality of work, their focus and commitment, this small and tight-knit group of high achieving students has displayed excellent academic potential. They are always positively disposed towards school life; sociable, playful and cheerful, yet attentive, serious and hard-working when it matters.

We have also been especially satisfied to witness how strong bonds and friendships have blossomed between them and how compassionate and supportive they are to each other.

Congratulations to all and best wishes for further progress and growth.

The Year 8 students at St Marks International school are an exceptional group of girls. They approach all aspects of school life with a determined approach. Even though semester one was spent mostly off site, the girls were as enthusiastic as ever upon their return to school-wide teaching in semester two. I introduced a baton game called “Kopp”, in which the girls were divided into two teams and tried to knock down the opposition blocks. They thoroughly enjoyed the game and developed their motor skills.

I look forward to being their teacher in semester one 2022.

It has been my privilege to be the homeroom teacher for this year’s grade 9 class. It has been a difficult year for all, due to covid-19, with the challenges of transitioning a number of times between online learning and on-campus classes. However, through all of this the year 9s’ have managed to maintain a mostly positive attitude as well as their sense of humor and fun. They are diverse group of individuals and even though they have a broad range of different interests they are able to respect each other and have established many strong friendships. I look forward to seeing them develop further over the coming year as they endeavor to complete their IGCSE studies. I believe that the best is yet to come and if they can fully grasp the potential that they have the future will be bright for them.

Our cohort of Year 10 and 11 students are a fine body of scholars. They are developing in maturity and knowledge commendably and have great future potential. They have encountered many challenging problems and are learning to cope admirably. Their thirst for understanding is present and I am sure with more tuition they will be able to achieve notable and praiseworthy results. It has been a pleasure to get to know them and I wish them every success for next year's programme of study.

It has been a real pleasure to be the homeroom teacher for grade 12. Due to Covid the students were faced with various challenges including the postponement of their A level exams on a number of occasions, which prolonged their studies for an extra 6 months. However, regardless of these difficulties the students managed to keep a positive attitude and continued to work hard, becoming the first class to complete their secondary education at St Mark’s. I have had the privilege of teaching many of the students throughout most of their time in high school and it is wonderful to see how they have matured into the young adults they have become. It was also great to participate in their joy as they were accepted for tertiary studies by various universities around the world.

It has been another remarkable achievement of our very own students who bagged 1 Gold and 6 Silver Medals from the recent Preliminary Round of the Eurasian Spelling Bee Lexical Skills Competition. These results wouldn't be possible without their dedication and the support of parents and teachers.

Congratulations to all of our achievers for a job well done!
