The legend has it that the devil built this bridge. In 1950, Heinrich Danioth actually painted the devil on the wall. The Schöllenen circular trail affords a deep view into the gorge and is easy to walk on (duration approx. 30 minutes). The Suworow monument is a reminder of the battle which took place at the Schöllenen Gorge on 25 September 1799. Russian troops under General Suworow fought against Napoleon’s soldiers and defeated the French.
Trekking with the Bärti and Co. pack goats is a unique adventure.
The Diavolo fixed-rope route guarantees breathtaking views into the gorge and takes you from the Devil’s Bridge up to the Tüfelstalbode.

Gotthard Tunnel Village Göschenen Circular Tour
Meiental The Meiental is a largely unspoilt, wild and romantic side valley in the upper Reuss Valley in canton Uri. No matter whether you are a hiker, a biker, a climber, a boulderer or are just looking for peace and quiet, this valley is the perfect place to leave your everyday cares behind. Politically, Meien is part of the municipality of Wassen. On the lookout platform at the famous «Chileli vo Wasse» you can view the tunnel and the unusual railway route.
This circular tour is devoted to the history of the longest railway tunnel built in the 19th century and to the development of Gotthard traffic. The tour comprises 14 different stations. There are free booklets available at Göschenen train station and at the village square, which provide information in German, Italian and English. !
