Conference & Visitors Bureau

represent Stockton at tradeshows and media events. We follow the latest tourism, marketing and internet trends, and adapt our efforts accordingly.

by: Wes Rhea

We surely don’t do it alone…partnerships are key. The CVB works closely with our state, regional and local tourism partners to cooperatively leverage budgets, advertising, services and information for the benefit of all. Though we are primarily funded by local hotels, we work with and promote restaurants, retail businesses, attractions, arts and cultural organizations, sporting events, and even agriculture. We’re not new to this. The Chamber, of course, has been promoting Stockton for over 100 years. Our role is unique, and unlike any other. We take it very seriously…and we hope you will to.

We’ve come a long way since this photo of a Chamber employee was taken in the Summer of 1966

Stockton Conference & Visitors Bureau: What are we? The role of the Conference & Visitors Bureau (CVB) is often misunderstood. This month we take a moment to better define our role.

CVB’s are Destination Marketing Organizations (DMOs). A DMO is an organization whose primary function is to attract visitors for the purpose of enhancing the local economy through the purchase of room nights, food and beverage, retail items,

conference and meeting planners, tour operators, and visitors. We assist planners with meeting preparation and encourage business travelers and visitors alike to visit local historic, cultural and recreational sites…..and we offer these services at no cost.
