YOU DON’T PROFIT FROM SICK EMPLOYEES. WHY DOES YOUR HEALTH PROVIDER? In an industry built on fee-for-service care, Kaiser Permanente succeeds because we’re built around prevention and the highest quality care. One Harvard Business Review article described our care as “untainted by any economic conflict of interest.”* And in an industry report by The Economist, Kaiser Permanente’s care was described as promoting economy and quality care with “no financial motive to order unnecessary procedures.”† To learn more about Kaiser Permanente, call 1-800-464-4000 or visit kp.org/choosebetter.

you”. Each year at this event, we also recognize those members that have hit the 25, 50, 75 and 100 year mark as
members. As President, I want you to know that your Chamber appreciates your loyalty through all of those many years of membership. We exist for really one reason, which is to provide support and benefit for our members. The end-all of the Chamber mission is to promote our members whether that is through networking or promoting a better business climate in our community. By the way, you should come back to the Hilton that evening for our tradeshow mixer. The annual installation dinner will be on June 26 at the Stockton Golf and Country Club. Everyone should come to welcome and cheer on our incoming President, Blain Bibb. I know I will. I would like to take this opportunity to say a big thank-you to everyone who has helped in any way to make my term a success. Unlike Doug Wilhoit, Chamber Presidents sort of fade away and their picture is moved to another wall. Good luck, Blain!

Health care continues to be a topic that impacts each and every one of us, and each year Leadership Stockton takes a look at the challenges and successes in health care throughout San Joaquin County. The day began at the CSU Stanislaus Stockton Center in University Park with a panel discussion from Joe Harrington, President/CEO of Lodi Health/ Lodi Memorial Hospital; Don Wiley, President of St. Joseph’s Medical Center; Ted Matson, Regional VP, Strategy and Business Development at Sutter Health; Michael Glasberg, Sr. Vice President/ COO of Dameron Hospital; Dr. Michael Rehbein, Assistant Physician-inChief Outpatient Services at Kaiser Permanente Medical Center; and David Hurst, Vice President, External Affairs at Health Plan of San Joaquin. The panelists gave a glimpse into each of their organizations and then shared their opinions on the state of health care with the class. The class then asked many questions. Each panelist was very open and the discussion was very lively and informational. Following the panel was a tour of the Health Careers Academy just down the street at the University Park Campus. What a great school, and great kids. After the tour the class reconvened at the CSU Stanislaus Center and were joined by Traci Miller, the Principal of 16 PORT CALL
