activity of buying and selling local goods and services! Companies that manufacture products are the drivers

of commerce in any local economy. When these types of companies are thriving, distribution, service, construction, and retail companies grow right along with them. Of course employment increases along with disposable income when all of these industries are doing well. The great news is that Stockton and San Joaquin County are magnets for manufacturing. There are over 400 manufacturing companies that have chosen our county to set up shop. They employ over 17,000 people and tens of thousands more are employed in supporting industries. We have manufacturers that make medical devices, steel, pallets, satellite components, paper products, specialized fuels, cardboard products, modular buildings, specialized machine parts, fertilizers, road base, environmentally friendly fire logs, specialized paints, along with numerous agriculturally derived products. This month we celebrate this group of front-runners in our local economy with the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce’s 50th Annual Industrial & Technology BBQ. On September 10 at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel, join us as we recognize some of the companies who have been growing. There will also be awards recognizing companies for their environmental stewardship, and celebrating others who have been a part of the community for over 50 years. We are proud to have many of these companies as chamber members and appreciate both their participation in and support of our various Chamber programs. We look forward to seeing you on the 10th!

After five decades, the Industrial Technology Barbecue has created a lasting legacy here in San Joaquin County. Over the years, the annual award has proven to be a great way to gauge the vitality of the local economy and to celebrate the innovators who continue to push San Joaquin County forward. On September 10, 2014, the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce will induct even more businesses into the storied ranks of past honorees during an event at the University Plaza Waterfront Hotel in Stockton. This year, 12 businesses will be honored at the event for expansions and installations that have contributed to the local business community. These companies have met the substantial minimum criteria by investing at least $1 million in capital investment, building at least 20,000 square feet of new or expanded facilities under one roof or creating at least 20 new jobs here in San Joaquin County. The companies honored for expansion at this year’s event will include Agro-Culture Liquid Fertilizers, Cepheid, Central Plastics & Manufacturing, Trinchero Family Estates and Turkhan Foods Inc. & Linden Nut Co., LLC. AMS (Asset Management Solutions), Crothall Healthcare, DTE Energy, Menlo Worldwide Logistics, NEMO Building Systems, Regenesys Glass Processing and Wilmar Oils & Fats LLC are companies new to San Joaquin County which will be

The very first Industrial Barbecue is held at Yosemite Lake Park to honor large industrial and manufacturing companies operating in San Joaquin County. More than 70 top industrial employers are honored. Ticket price for a steak dinner: $4.

The event relocates to Micke Grove Park and a criteria change refocuses the event to only recognize businesses that have seen significant growth over the previous 12 months.

The growth of call centers and other technology companies in the Greater Stockton area prompts the inclusion of a new category of business: technology. The Industrial Barbecue transforms into the Industrial Technology BBQ.

Giving hope for a bright future. We are the CAPC. and exposed to extreme bouts of family violence. Three foster homes later, Jane found her forever home, but her aggressive outbursts threatened her new family’s ability to cope. For a year, CAPC Clinicians worked with Jane and her new parents on her behaviors and their responses, equipping them both with tools to help them both come to terms with her past and look toward a bright future. With a clear idea of where she’s been, where she is now, and where she wants to go, Jane’s outlook on life today is full of hope.
