Valley to encourage and enjoy the fantastic success of an ECHL ice hockey team,

resulting in the move up to embrace the AHL level of professional hockey. And the Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce is on! As well as being a major leader in supporting our city and its healthy entertainment venues, this Chamber has developed innovative education opportunities and strong programs to attract new businesses. We enjoy the oldest community leadership program in the state, founded 34 years ago, and now Leadership Stockton has launched the Leadership Stockton Alumni Association, whose members continue to demonstrate their commitment to community service. As Trevor Womack said at the Alumni Association’s first annual Community Leadership Breakfast on June 16, “This organization has a heart for community service.” Strong businesses provide job opportunities and strengthen communities, and strong communities are noted for the numbers and effectiveness of community service volunteers. The Greater Stockton Chamber of Commerce cares and works hand-in-hand with local nonprofit organizations to help ensure that community needs — and opportunities — are recognized and effectively addressed. And, education is at the heart of it all. I am immensely proud of this Chamber’s effective educational programs — programs that provide double benefit, to those members of the work force who participate, and to the employers who are steadfast in their commitment to ensuring a healthy work force and community. While our Chamber is strong, growth will make us even stronger. We have a highly effective membership and recruitment team on our Chamber staff, but let’s keep the heat on each of us to encourage the businesses which we interact with to join us as Chamber members. And you need not do it alone. Call Joe or Eric at 209.547.2770, who will follow up for you. See you at the Heat this fall!

Many of the employees have been with the venues for over five years, and many of their full-time staff have grown from parttime employment. The subsidy so many malign goes to cover operation costs of all four city-owned facilities, which includes maintenance, repairs, and keeping the venues safe for patrons to visit and enjoy their time there. The Arena and BHF host over 160 events a year, with some being high profile, like concerts, sporting events, and graduations, to some “under-the-radar events like private rehearsals. With shows, set-up, tear-down, and maintenance, the Stockton Arena alone is in use over 250 days a year. Bottom line: they are all great assets to be used and supported

BUSINESS PROFILE Here are Four Key Questions Every Auto Glass Customer Should Ask Prior To Service: 1. What Training has Your Auto Glass Installer Received? At Stockton Auto Glass, we take it upon ourselves for our service technicians to be certified and HENRY PERALTA, SALES MANAGER

follow safety

standards per the Auto Glass Safety Council. Relatively few auto glass companies have gone to this level to ensure their technicians are trained to meet these standards. 2. Why are Some Auto Glass Companies so Cheap? There are three components to an auto glass quote. • Cost of Materials: Best quality urethane costs more. • Cost of Labor: Better trained, dedicated technicians earn better pay

Locations:

• Overhead & Profit: An auto glass company with a shop facility provides superior service and quality but costs more to operate than a strictly mobile service provider 3. Does the Auto Glass Company Offer a Guarantee? Stockton Auto Glass stands behind the quality of the installation for as long as you own the vehicle. 4. How Soon are You Able to Safely Operate a Vehicle After a Windshield is Installed? Faster drying urethane (glue), although more expensive, will set with a drive away time of 30 minutes. A majority of glass shops do not use higher price urethane. A windshield is part of the structural integrity of a vehicle, and airbags are designed to bounce off the windshield when protecting the passengers. If a windshield does not do its part, neither will the airbags. Remember: You get what you pay for and there is no substitute when it comes to protecting your family in case of an accident.

So why change a good thing? Because West Coast NHL teams had a problem: all of their top-level minor league teams, playing in the AHL, were based on the East Coast. This made it hard for pro teams to cultivate their minor league talent, thousands of miles away. It was difficult to observe practices

Executives are hoping to make the game night experience even better than before, with new promotions, in-game giveaways, music, and a yet-to-be-revealed mascot.

Of course, the Stockton Heat will continue to support numerous causes around the community. And players will be involved in promoting nonprofits and the importance of education – it’s a Flames priority, Piecuch said. But perhaps most importantly, the Heat will continue to offer a great place for families to enjoy an inexpensive, fun night out. It’s

with some new glass and hockey goals. “It’s a couple of steps up,” Piecuch said. “Everything has to move up a notch or two.” One thing that isn’t changing is the price. Season ticket prices remained flat, while day-of-game tickets might be a dollar or two more, at most. Piecuch said Calgary Flames ownership decided to keep prices low as a sign of their long-term commitment to the Stockton community. Fans will get to see a better product, at the same price. “Give credit to Calgary,” Piecuch said. “They wanted to come into this market, do it right, and properly set the tone for a long-term commitment to the area.” The strategy is working. Ticket sales, corporate sponsorships, and media interest in the Stockton Heat are all up roughly 20 percent from a year ago. And with full season tickets for as low as $380 – roughly $11 a game – fans from Sacramento to Turlock are buying in.
