it's great to read about the Class of 2016 and their accomplishments. The bar has been raised yet again and the Class of 2017 is going to have its work cut out for them. The Leadership Stockton program was developed by a forward-thinking group of Stocktonians, including our very own Douglass Wilhoit, 35 years ago and has over 820 alumni to date. The Class of 2017 is currently being interviewed and will have their first session in August. Keep your eyes open to see who made the class in next months' Port O Call. Also don’t forgot to check out the Events Section in this and last month's Port O Call to learn how your organization can take advantage of the 2016-2017 “Taking Care of Business” sponsorship program that the Chamber offers and allows you to

The process is usually a top-down initiative and involves staff and managers alike. “We felt an obligation to do so as a California business and as part of a world renowned company that provides alternate solutions to our customers in handling their waste in

regard to our products and sustaining the life of our products in general,” said Aaron Allen, Plant Manager of GMA Garnet in Stockton. “We thought we were already doing so well in running a green business.” And many companies are doing well. We found that most of the businesses we visit meet more than 50 percent of the required measures. However, it does take time and dedication to complete the checklist and become certified. Aaron Allen adds, “We are proud to receive this acknowledgement and to be a part of building a brighter future. We have learned a lot about all the areas which are included in being a green business not just the ones we see every day. We have come out of this more informed and the struggle and effort put into the journey is what will make it lasting.” As Aaron points out, it is a journey and the Green Team San Joaquin is here to help you through the process.
