Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday. Don and I host our family, friends-foreign and domestic, and an occasional homeless person. No doubt many of you begin your meal with a thankful time. We can never get around the table of 30 without tears even in years of struggle and loss there are thankful hearts. Occasionally I’ve read Abraham Lincoln’s Thanksgiving Proclamation to the group. There are parts of it that are needed today such as inviting our citizens to “fervently implore the interposition of the Almighty Hand to heal the wounds of the nation and to restore it as soon as may be consistent with the Divine purposes to the full enjoyment of peace, harmony, tranquility and Union.” Interestingly, that although since the days of George Washington we had some form of Thanksgiving, it was a woman, Sarah Josepha Hale, a 74-year-old magazine editor who wrote Lincoln to have a “day of annual Thanksgiving made a National and fixed Union

Leadership Stockton Class Picks Community Project During Annual Retreat

Computer Systems & Service Quick Fix PC & Phone Repair 5651 N. Pershing Ave., Stockton, CA 95207

The Leadership Stockton Class of 2017-18 chose their class community project at September’s overnight retreat at Camp Tuolumne Trails in Groveland, CA. The beautiful camp welcomed the class for their Retreat with open arms and great weather. The class started the retreat with an expectations exercise and that got them thinking about what to expect the next day and a half. Then Chris Stevens, President, Summit Solutions Consulting, LS Class of 2007, took over and lead the class through some leadership theory, some team building games and a few rounds of human hungry hungry hippos! The afternoon brought a fun little game called “Little Known Fact Bingo” where the class learned fun random facts about each other. After the embarrassing stories the class did an exercise learning the finer points of Voting vs. Consensus and how they as a class will determine how to choose their community project. Then it was time for presentations on the two potential community projects the class was to choose from. After the presentations the class was free to enjoy the great outdoors for the evening, including s’mores around the campfire. The morning

light brought a hearty breakfast followed by a discussion of the pros and cons of both project proposals. After a passionate discussion the class chose their project and planned out the leadership, subcommittees, action plan, and timeline. For their year-long community service project the Class of 2017-18 has chosen to help the Podesto Teen Impact Center and Children’s Museum of Stockton. At the Podesto Teen Impact Center the class will be: repairing the bowling lanes, fixing up the snack bar, upgrading the wifi, helping get the word out to local teens all the great things going on at the center and much more. At the Children’s Museum the class will be getting a fresh coat of paint on the iconic toy soldiers outside the museum, helping spruce up the outdoor playground, and trying to raise some corporate sponsorship money for a new car repair exhibit. It is going to be a great project! DR. BELOGORSKY WANTED THE BEST KNEE REPLACEMENT SURGEON.

So, he chose Dr. Howell.

“With over 15 patents on knee

Dr. James Belogorsky has always been active. He was a free-style swimmer with a great kick, an avid rock climber, a slalom skier…all hard on the knees. So, when he couldn’t even take a pass at the lake without pain, he knew it was time to act. And that’s when he found Dr. Howell.

replacement medical devices and over 140 professional articles, this guy is the real deal.

Dr. James Belogorsky

Quality was key, and as a recognized top 3% surgeon in the state, Dr. Howell’s low infection and complication rates, shorter time in the hospital and early ability to walk all spoke volumes about his ability. Downtime was minimal and Dr. Belogorsky was back to work in just a month, walking four miles a day on hospital rounds, and waterskiing in just six weeks. In fact, his recovery went so well that he just had his other knee replaced and is feeling great, thanks to Dr. Howell.
