The ATHENA Leadership Award recipient this year is Lindy Turner Hardin , who has been the Executive Director of the Child Abuse Prevention Council for sixteen years. When Hardin was first hired, the organization was struggling, but with her ceaseless dedication, she was able to revive it by effectively equipping and managing her staff, and working carefully within the agency’s budget. Thanks to Hardin’s mentorship and development of her staff, her organization’s budget has grown during her tenure from three million dollars to sixteen million dollars, increasing their ability to reach and aid those in need throughout the community. Thanks to Hardin’s tireless leadership, the Child Abuse Prevention Council now offers over twenty direct-service programs helping children and families in San Joaquin County, including therapy services for children and families, pre-school locations, and San Joaquin’s Court Appointed Special Advocates Program. Children and families are important to Hardin, and she is passionate about her work. Harden believes in serving as a role model for the women she works with by leading, connecting, and communicating with those around her. Although her role as CEO of one of San Joaquin’s largest nonprofits is intense and requires a lot of attention, she makes certain to prioritize setting aside time to meet with her Leadership team, which is almost entirely comprised of women, in
