NEXT STEP TALKS

We can come and speak to groups of students in school to discuss future careers and the next steps available to them. This can be part of a tutorial session or as a part of a careers day. The Team promises to offer impartial advice and these sessions also offer the chance to discuss entry requirements.

APPLICATION WORKSHOPS AND INTERVIEW DAYS

These workshops are a great way of getting your students ready to make their college and apprenticeship applications. We can help support students in the application process and, if requested, even carry out live interviews. Sessions can take place in school or in college and your students could come away with a real place offer.

MOCK INTERVIEWS

Are you giving your students interview training? Let us come and help you. Our Mock Interviews offer students the chance to be interviewed by someone they don’t know and pick up lots of hints and tips to help improve their technique.

CAREERS FAIRS

Careers Fairs are a great way of introducing your students to a whole host of future careers, some of which they may not previously have considered. If you are holding an event we’d love to come along and provide information, tasters and advice on our courses. We are pretty good at organising them too, if you need a helping hand. Careers Fairs can take place either in school or at the College.

IN YOUR SCHOOL ASSEMBLIES - COLLEGE PRESENTATIONS

We’d be happy to come along to whole year group assemblies to deliver a presentation on college courses and options available.

STAFF BRIEFING EVENTS

Are your staff up to date with all of the options available to your students, post 16? We can come along to your CPD sessions/staff meetings and explain our full vocational, academic and apprenticeship options available and the process students would need to go through.

PARENTS’ EVENINGS

Got a parents’ evening planned we would be happy to come along to discuss next steps with students and their parents.

PARENTS INTO COLLEGE

New for this year, we are inviting parents into college to try out lessons and experience college life for themselves. This is a chance for mum and dad, or guardians, to experience what their children will be doing and get a real feel for the place. You never know, with lots of part-time and adult courses available they might even be inspired into taking up a course themselves.

CAREERS ADVISORS’ DAY

Want to know more about college life? Come and experience it for yourself. If you regularly speak to students about their post-16 options, this is your chance to come into college, have a look round, try out some sessions and discover what it’s really like to be a student here.

ENTERPRISE WORKSHOPS

Offering our students the opportunity to develop enterprise skills is a core part of our enrichment programme here at the college. We are happy to help your school develop and build on its own culture of enterprise by offering bespoke workshops in schools. Through enterprise your students can grow in confidence, develop decision making, communication and organisation skills, it can also be fun and encourages innovation and creative thinking. For more details or to book a workshop contact our Enterprise Co-ordinator, Laura Langridge, by emailing Laura.Langridge@stockton.ac.uk

F1 IN SCHOOLS

New for this year. At NETA we are now working with F1 in Schools Ltd, a not for profit company established with partners to provide an exciting yet challenging educational experience through the appeal of Formula One. This challenge offers teams of students, aged nine to 19, the chance to use CAD/ CAM software to collaborate, design analyse, manufacture, test, and then race miniature compressed air powered balsa wood F1 cars. The challenge inspires students to use IT to learn about physics, aerodynamics, design, manufacture, branding, graphics, sponsorship, marketing, leadership/ teamwork, media skills and financial strategy, and apply them in a practical, imaginative, competitive and exciting way. For details of how your students can get involved call Jayne Wilson at NETA on 01642 616 936.

PRINCE’S TRUST AT STOCKTON RIVERSIDE COLLEGE

Explore your potential with the Achieve programme. The Prince’s Trust is an active engagement tool to motivate and develop young people. In schools we can offer bespoke oneoff teambuilding sessions for students (or staff!) as well as the opportunity to undertake units or qualifications with the Prince’s Trust. The delivery is tailored to meet your needs which could be anything from a unit in Teambuilding up to a regular weekly session to achieve Prince’s Trust Award or Certificate at E3, L1 or L2 in Personal Development and Employability as part of the Achieve programme. The units to select from include personal and social development, teamwork, active citizenship, enterprise, career planning, community project and participating in sport. The Achieve programme can provide your group with exclusive opportunities for skill development. These enrichment activities provide young people with unique opportunities to develop vital life skills, discover new interests and learn about the world of work. The Prince’s Trust Achieve programme is run as a club in schools and alternative education settings across the UK. Every young person should have the opportunity to fulfil their potential and the Prince’s Trust exists to support that. We can work together to ensure your students achieve things that they can be proud of.
