Choosing to study Art & Design was the right decision for Stuart. Described by his teachers as “a natural talent”, the former Abbey Hill School pupil progressed through Levels 1, 2 and 3 with Stockton Riverside College. Now studying Fine Art at Teesside University, he said of his time at College:
A glittering stage career could be in the pipeline for Chantelle after scooping a place at one of London’s top stage schools. The former Nunthorpe Academy student is off to start training at London ArtsEd.
A world of opportunities has opened up for Katie who, after studying Travel & Tourism at Stockton Riverside College, has been snapped up by travel and tourism group, TUI. As a travel advisor her career has started working from the UK but as an employee of the multinational firm she could go on to work all over the world.

SHARLENE
Seeing the ribbon cut on her own business proved a special moment for former Stockton Riverside College student Charlotte.
Designs on a dream career have become a reality for Stephanie who is living her childhood dream working as an illustrator with a publishing agency.
Sharlene is painting herself a bright new future after swapping the stage for a career in the trades. Problems with her vocal chords forced the former singer to reconsider her future.
Beauty, Hairdressing and Nail Services
The opening of Lux Hair & Beauty in Thornaby marked the culmination of her hard work. Charlotte spent six years at the College honing her trade, picking up qualifications in Hairdressing, Beauty Therapy and Nail Services, before going on to work in the industry. Now she’s launched her own business, opened by TOWIE star Chloe Sims.
“I couldn’t have done any of this without the support of my College tutors. I loved my time at College and didn’t want to leave.”
Creative Media
The former Blakeston School student (now North Shore) said it was a love of art that led her to study Creative Digital Media at Stockton Riverside College.
“I wanted to do something that had a bit more of a story or a purpose to it.” It certainly opened up opportunities that she hadn’t previously considered.
Looking back today she puts much of her success down to receiving a good grounding in the subject delivered in a way that she says is true to working in the industry.
Painting & Decorating
“I always knew whatever I did would have to be hard work.”
The Stockton mum chose to retrain as a painter and decorator at Stockton Riverside College. She’s now running her own property maintenance, painting and decorating company, Repair, Prepare & Décor.
“I wouldn’t be where I am now if it wasn’t for the College. Being in an environment with people of all different ages has given me so much confidence, I really have enjoyed it.”
SUCCESS! GEORGE
Business George wasn’t sure which direction he wanted his career to take when he chose to study Business at Stockton Riverside College.
Now after receiving four university offers the former St Michael’s Catholic Academy student is plotting his route to a high-flying career. After opting for a degree in Business Management at Sunderland University.
“Business is such a diverse subject, you learn so much.” “On the course at Stockton Riverside College you do lots of practical activities, putting what you have learnt into practice. The tutors both help and challenge you to do your best.”
