LOGISTICS ACADEMY
Getting real hands-on experience is a priority at Stockton Riverside College. We work closely with real employers to make sure our courses are delivering the skills that count and to help our students get real work experience. This can include placements, volunteering, working in College and/or community projects.
As part of the Tees Valley Logistics Academy, we offer our students the chance to learn about this fascinating industry. Running alongside their full-time courses, those taking part develop their knowledge, get real work experience and gain contacts within the industry. Many of our Logistics Academy students have successfully moved on to university, apprenticeships and work.
ENTERPRISE Whichever course you choose you can polish your entrepreneurial skills with our fantastic enterprise programme. We want to help inspire our students and so, working with Enterprising Stockton, we offer opportunities to try out your own enterprise ideas.

A GREAT PLACE TO LEARN LEARNING RESOURCE CENTRE The Learning Resource Centre (LRC) provides access to books, journals, computers and other learning resources. The LRC strives to be innovative and inclusive in meeting the diverse needs and demands of its learners. We seek to provide a high quality service based upon an extensive range of learning materials to support you in your studies in an environment that is safe, welcoming, stimulating and engaging for learners to study.

Rehearsing as close to professional standards as possible it is no surprise many of our students move on to some of the country’s leading stage schools and universities.

DANCE STUDIO
Learn the skills of your chosen trade in our CED centre. Here you will find our joinery, bricklaying, electrical and painting and decorating workshops. It’s hands-on work, using real industry kit, but you’ll build the skills you need to start work.
The perfect place to learn and perfect your performance skills, our dance studio is a hive of activity for our performing arts students.
MOTOR VEHICLE WORKSHOP
Our Creative Media suites have all the equipment you need to bring your ideas to life both on the screen and also in the exciting world of virtual reality (VR). Our PCs have GTX 1060 graphics cards which are VR ready so students can create using the Oculus Rift. We also have Oculus Touch which enables students to use their hands in VR making things interactive. We use industry standard software including: Autodesk 3DS Max for 3D modelling, Unreal Engine 4 for creating games, Photoshop for texturing etc, Autodesk Mudbox for digital sculpting, Wacom Graphics tablets for digital drawing and texturing. We also have a PS4 with a dedicated HD TV and a retro gaming system with over 14,000 games!
Also situated in our CED Centre is our motor vehicle workshop. If you want to work as a motor vehicle mechanic, in a garage or industry workshop, this is the place for you. Our students get to learn their trade working with some of the latest kit in vehicle technology.
MOCK AIRCRAFT Prepare yourself for a future career in the aviation industry by learning in our new state-of-the-art mock aircraft. Providing students with the opportunity to practise various scenarios that they could encounter on board, students are able to communicate via the inter-phone and use the PA system to make announcements to passengers. We conduct first aid, firefighting, conflict and in-flight service scenarios.

On our programmes you will learn about the roles both on the ground and in the sky, from cabin crew, security, passenger agents to air traffic control. You will learn about all aspects of this exciting industry including baggage processing, check in, dispatch, health and safety, aircraft marshalling and security. YOU NEED: Beauty Therapy Level 1 qualification or GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths. If you are aged 19 or above you can start your study at this level.
You will develop skills in the art of photographic makeup and how to apply makeup correctly. This course also involves skin tanning techniques and the shaping and colouring of eyebrows. You will also learn about the importance of client care, communication skills and health and safety.
YOU NEED: NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing/Beauty Level 1 or three GCSEs grade 4/C.

PRINCE’S TRUST Enrolling on one of The Prince’s Trust courses can open up a lot of doors for you. You can build your confidence and make new friends while gaining the skills that employers are looking for as well as having lots of fun and gaining a nationally recognised qualification.

If you’re thinking about a career in the construction industry but are unsure of which trade to specialise in, this course could be perfect for you. You will have the opportunity to try your hand at joinery, painting and decorating, decorative effects as well as covering health and safety, an introduction to construction and more.
You will expand on the skills you have developed throughout the level 2 course, you will cover architectural design using CAD software, quantity and building surveying, construction technology, environmental science, sustainability in construction and health and safety.
YOU NEED: A keen interest in learning trade skills and four GCSEs grade A*-E/9-2.

You will learn through a combination of theoretical modules and practical lessons with formative on-line multi choice exams and year end assessment. Topics covered will include health & safety, electrical principles, electrical installation technology, installation of wiring systems and associated enclosures as well as communication skills within the building trade.
Building on the skills and knowledge gained at Level 2 you will gain a greater understanding and working knowledge of electrical installation technology, wiring systems and associated enclosures. You will further develop your knowledge of electrical principles and science. You will also continue to learn about health and safety and communication. Lessons include practical workshops, lectures, presentations and demonstrations.

STUDENT SERVICES Student Services are here to offer you support during your time at the College and help to make sure you enjoy your time here. The team arranges lots of activities and events throughout the year, giving you the chance to pick up new skills, find new interests and prepare for your future. Talk to the team about joining our Student Association or helping to promote the College by becoming a student ambassador, it’s a great way to make new friends and it looks good on your CV too! At the junction at the top of the slip road turn right at the traffic lights. Turn left at the roundabout, then go straight ahead at the next roundabout on to Princeton Drive.
