Dogs 10 lbs and under have a special tiny tots area to play in that is separate from dogs 11 lbs and over,” explains Wetegrove. The remainder of dogs are broken down by size and temperament, so that all dogs play within their respective energy group. Whether large or small, every dog has a funfilled camping experience at Camp Bow Wow®.
Camp Bow Wow® San Antonio is a veteran owned company dedicated to promoting “Happy Healthy Pets, Happy Healthy People”. The Wetegroves opened their first camp in April of 2007. They expanded their business to two more locations, one on the northwest side of town at I-10 and DeZavala Road and now, up in Austin. The most exciting news for Stone Oak residents is that they will soon have a Camp Bow Wow® right in their own backyard! “We are currently finishing the build-out of our fourth location on Stone Oak Parkway, just west of US Hwy 281, and it will soon be open in September of 2015,” reports Wetegrove.

At the new Stone Oak location, owners will be able to reserve, for a few dollars more per night, one of ten special suites, complete with their own Camper Cam, piped in music and TV. The Stone Oak camp is built all indoors with an area featuring artificial turf called canine grass and more natural light and wall paint so it has the appearance of being outdoors. There’s even a separate training room for training sessions during the day, nights and weekends.
Although Camp Bow Wow® is a great place for overnight boarding, a large percentage of their Campers come weekly for day camp. “Our clients use us for day camp because they want their pets to be in an environment that provides stimulation and socialization,” added Wetegrove. Can I really downsize when I have so much stuff? Do I really need all this stuff? My last child of four graduates college in May and I still have a 4600+ home. It is just my husband and me and of course our two cats. We are never home, so this is an easy question for us, an emphatic NO! However, how do you get rid of your beloved treasures (stuff)? Well, start small so you don’t get overwhelmed. Here are some tips: 1. Assess your actual NEEDS. Do you need the exercise equipment holding your clothes or would a good pair of running shoes suffice (not 30 my fellow runners)? Look at all your furniture. How much of it do you actually use or is it just pretty? Do this same thing with everything and every room. Ask yourself if you’ve used it in the past year and if so, how often? You have to be honest – mark it for removal or move it out now. If you have to keep something, put it on the storage list and tell yourself, if I don’t use it in 6 months, it is gone. 2. Clear every cabinet, shelf & closet. Again, only keep what you can’t live without. Get rid of all expired medicines, collection of water bottles and plastic tubs, gadgets, etc. Be strong!
4. Remember you are downsizing – you may not have a lot of storage. Don’t store what you don’t need. Go through your old storage. Do you really need three Christmas trees? 5. Donate “treasures” to local charities, churches, and needy families. You might even get a tax deduction! 6. Sell your prize possessions. Consignment shops, eBay, Craigslist, and even yard sales are great ways to sell collections. 7. Once you’ve cleared out your house... is it too much space? Consider selling and downsizing as well. Maintenance of a large home is expensive and so are the taxes. As an empty-nester I look forward to this great time to start fresh and shed some of the “excess” stuff I have accumulated. We’ve all worked hard to get to this point, now it is time to enjoy it. You did notice I said “some”- I am a work in progress!
3. Measure your furniture. This will help you decide if you can really keep a piece of furniture or not. Once you know where you are downsizing to, you will know what you can really keep.
