The new year offers the perfect opportunity for organisation and a fresh start, especially after the Christmas intake. Whether it’s reducing the pile of toys, updating your technology or making space for your new look wardrobe after two years of making do, it feels good to sometimes reset the bar. Once you start digging deep, you are sure to come face-to-face with a few items that have had their day or you just don’t need anymore. For each item you will have to ask yourself; ‘Is this something that could go to charity, could it be recycled or is it too far gone?’ Most of all, remember not to be wasteful: there may be some diamonds lurking around. When putting yourself to task make sure that you are ready for it, you won’t get your whole house decluttered within a couple of hours. Try writing a list of the areas you want to cover and break them down into chunks, so you don’t end up at the bottom of the pile and in a worse state than when you started. There will be some things that you simply can’t let go, they may not seem special to others, but to you it could be a memory that you’re not willing to part with. A big clear out can seem like a lot of trouble, but getting started is half the battle, so roll up your sleeves and lets go!
