2021
We are delighted to announce the winner of our Stotfold Christmas Hero for 2021!
Together with Satchells Estate Agents, the Stotfold News Magazine are once again proud to present this award to one extra special Christmas Hero from within our local community.
We were astounded at the volume of entries we received again this year and would like to thank everybody that took the time to send in their nominations.
We are delighted to announce that the Stotfold Christmas Hero award for 2021 goes to Natalie Howe from Luna Animal Rescue . Nominated by friend and Luna Rescue fosterer Jo Beazley for her hard work and the endless hours she puts in to Luna. Jo wrote a very touching entry, telling us all about Natalie and the way in which she dedicates her time and energy to helping rescue animals from within the local community. ‘Natalie has created a ‘Luna family’ that are all fostering, fundraising and helping to improve the lives of so many animals in need’ she went on to say ‘Natalie is role model I am very proud to know. ’ Luna Animal Rescue, founded in 2013, helps to re-home animals who find themselves abandoned and without families, in local and national pounds. They have successfully re-homed well over 300 dogs, who are happily living with their new families. Congratulations Natalie, so very well deserved.
Runner Up this year for Stotfold was Mollie Jennings. A familiar face in Stotfold, Mollie was nominated for her many, many years dedicated to Stotfold Bowls Club (over 60!) with over thirty of these years serving as Club President. Mollie was nominated by Carol Hanlon and we congratulate Mollie on her award as she steps down from her position as Chairwoman. Well done Mollie for your hard work and dedication to the club.
We congratulate all of our winners and our nominees for this year. 2021 has been yet another very strange year for us all- the volume of nominations we received and the wonderful stories we read just go to show how many people within our community are willing to give to others and fully deserve the title of ‘hero’ in many, many ways.
Our Christmas hero winner Natalie received a luxury Christmas hamper to enjoy and a certificate was awarded to our runner up Mollie.

Fabulous Festive Fun..
Stotfold certainly kicked off Christmas in style this year with several successful events marking the start of the festivities.
Saturday 27th November saw the Stotfold Town Council Light Switch On event defy the adverse weather conditions with many people bracing the wind to enjoy the fun. The indoor skating rink was hugely popular, alongside the storytime with santa and outdoor attractions. Stotfold Mayor Cllr Alan Cooper led the count down to the turning on of the Stotfold Town Council Christmas lights with St Mary’s school choir singing wonderfully to the crowd outside the Greenacre Centre. Storm Arwen certainly didn’t manage to spoil the fun that was had by all.
The following weekend saw the residents of Silverbirch Avenue hosting their annual resident Christmas Light switch on event with many people joining the street for this favourite Stotfold tradition. A special appearance was made by Santa and his (extremely tall) reindeer as they visited the children and helped Santa in the countdown to the switching on of the Christmas lights. A collection for the NEED PROJECT was held on the evening, with delicious hot mince pies and mulled wine supplied by resident Emma, from Box of Cakes.
Stotfold Churches together hosted Carols by Torchlight. in St Mary’s churchyard to share the story of the birth of Jesus by singing carols with the Stotfold Salvation Army Band and hearing about the events of that first Christmas from the ‘Open the Book’ team.
A beautiful setting we think you will all agree.
Thank you to everyone that helped and supported all of these fantastic festive events!
