Th
e 37th anniversary of STOU’s founding on 5 September 1978 to mark this milestone in the university’s history. On 1 – 4 September 2015, STOU provided special lectures, seminars, training programs, competitions and other activities to celebrate the 37th Anniversary. On 5 September 2015, STOU held a reception dinner for commemorating the 37th anniversary of its founding. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ongkan Indrambarya, Chairman of the University Council, presided over the ceremony, which also featured the awarding of STOU Plaques of Honor to certain individuals who have made valuable contributions to the work of the university. The event was attended by university administrators, faculty members and representatives from international organizations, governmental and private sectors, including Mr. Shigeki Kobayashi,

Highness Princess Bajra Kitiyabha led thousands of cyclists in the cycling event on 16 August 2015 at 3 pm, which held in every province in Thailand. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chailerd Pichitpornchai, President of STOU led administrators, faculty members and staff from STOU joining the cycling event in Bangkok. The cycling route starts from Dusit Palace on Sri Ayutthaya Road, the route ran past Victory Monument and up Vibhavadi Road in Bangkok for 43 kilometers.

n 9-10 September 2015, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) in cooperation with Hanoi Open University (HOU) and Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organiza-
tion Regional Open Learning Centre (SEAMEO SEAMOLEC) hosted the International Conference on Scientific Research (ICSR2015), in Nha Trang City, the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
This conference provided an engaging forum for addressing issues, ideas and developments in the field of education through keynote speeches, paper presentations and other sessions. It also offered an excellent opportunity for networking with university administrators, academics and researchers from around the world. The theme of the conference is “Role of Higher Education in Human Resource Development�. All of the papers fit into this theme by addressing the following sub-themes; Challenges in Distance Education, Distance Education in Vocational Education, Assessment and Evaluation: Assisted Technology, and the Technological Dimension of a MOOC (Massive Open Online Course).

On 9 September 2015, Sir John Daniel and Stamenka Uvalić-Trumbić, gave a keynote speech outlining “Distance Learning and Human Resource Development: What does the Research Tell Us?”. Moreover, the conference gave participants an opportunity to share experiences and exchange ideas with educational leaders, university administrators, academics and researchers via panel discussion entitled “How Distance Education Support Human Resource Development in ASEAN and Challenges in 21st Century”, for which the speakers were President of Open University Malaysia, Prof. Emeritus Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Anuwar Ali, Rector of Universitas Terbuka, Prof. Dr. Tian Belawati, Chancellor of University of the Philippines Open University, Dr. Grace Javier Alfonso, Academic Staff Expert of Minister, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher

Education, Prof. Dr. Paulina Pannen, and
Administration, University of the Philippines Open University, Dr. Jean A. Saludadez.
Four STOU delegates presented papers were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boontip Siritarungsri from the School of Nursing, Assoc. Prof. Chantana Thongprayoon from the School of Communica-
tion Arts, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chalabhorn Suwansumrit from the Office of Educational Technolo-
gy, and Dr. Kunchon Jeotee from the Office of Registrations, Record and Evaluations. Moreover, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chailerd Pichitpornchai, STOU President, chaired the keynote session and Asst. Dr. Monwipa Wongrujira, Assistant to the STOU President, chaired one of the concurrent sessions.

STOU, UPOU and HOU through Teleconference
From the last year success of the 1st video conference with University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU), the Republic of Philippines, Sukhothai Thammathirat Open University (STOU) hosted the 2nd video conference with UPOU on 14 July 2015. At this time, we were honored to have Hanoi Open University (HOU), the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, joining the event. This was held in order to share knowledge and experience on the topic of “Information Technology for Learning and Evaluation in Distance Education” and to strengthen academic networks with STOU, UPOU and HOU specialists in this field. It was honored to have Associate Professor Dr. Chailerd Pichitpornchai, President of STOU, Professor Dr. Grace J. Alfonso, President of UPOU, and Dr. Le Van Thanh, President of HOU presented their vision on the mentioned topic. Next year, STOU plans to invite another two open universities under OU5 which are Universitas Terbuka and Open University Malaysia, participating in this project.
Ties with the University of Hong Kong Associate Professor Dr. Daniel Churchill, from the Faculty of Education at The University of Hong Kong in Hong Kong, was invited to give a keynote speech on “University Development to an Achieving World Class University” during the 6th Academic Forum of Four Thai University Councils 2015, organized by Sukhothai
Thammathirat Open University (STOU) in collaboration with Walailak University (WU), Suranaree University of Technology (SUT) and Thepsatri Rajabhat University (TRU), held at the Impact Exhibition and Convention Center in Nonthaburi, Thailand, on 19 June 2015. As a key speaker on the event, Dr. Churchill played a significant role and shared his insights and experiences with participants, making a conference successful and enjoyable.
