An Evening in Support of the Bursary
An Evening in Support of the Bursary the 26th annual Tribute dinner honouring Ignatian challenge award recipients
0n November 5th, over 850 individuals gathered to celebrate Ms. Anne & Mr. Paul ’81 Mahon as they graciously accepted the 2019 Ignatian Challenge Award presented by Board Chair, Mr. Calvin Polet ‘93. True persons for others, this dynamic duo enamoured us with their humility, grace and involvement in their communities – all a reflection of Ignatian ideals. Emceed by Mr. Joe Fiorentino ’81, we reflected throughout the evening on the importance of providing equal opportunity education for all qualified applicants. Wadim Matochko ’02 shared his bursary story, one which carries gratitude for his education and the values instilled, which led him towards his career in medicine today (catch Wadim’s story on page 10). Thank you to all who attended, and thank you to all who donated that evening. From the Tribute Dinner, you collectively raised over $300,000 in support of the Bursary Fund. A special thank-you is due for all our sponsors; without your support, this event could not happen. The St. Paul’s High School community is extremely grateful for the support of our 26th annual Tribute Dinner and would like to thank everyone for making this year’s dinner possible.
The proceeds of the annual Tribute Dinner support the bursary program, an essential aspect of a Jesuit education. Your contribution helps provide the gift of an education that lasts a lifetime.
The Ignatian Challenge Award is one of St. Paul’s highest honours, and is presented at the annual Tribute Dinner to men and women who embrace the ideals of St. Ignatius of Loyola, and reflect the characters and qualities inherent in a Jesuit education at St. Paul’s High School: faith, generosity, a commitment to justice and a willingness to serve.
