This request should be dealt with by Streetscene Co-ordinator in the first instance under ‘Influence’ of Cleansing Budget

Greg Eynon/Ian Jenkins to action AGREED

Not required (mainstream budget)

Suggest that this project is put into request for £29 pot – with full costings and project proposal. Check first whether funding can be used on private buildings. 1. Clean & Green could remove as part of their Mon-Fri duties, with help from local community. 2. Parks CPM to cost up plants with a view to Community Payback planting out. Alternatively community to carry out bulb planting. Too late to organise for winter hanging baskets. I would suggest to get a group together and arrange for session to take place in St Pauls Learning Centre. Need to know how many baskets required to cost up materials. I would suggest we leaflet residents and ask them to put out any unwanted items, Clean & Green can collect large bulky items as part of their Mon – Fri duties. Skips cost approx £267 per skip. Requires funding application.

Hanging baskets and/ or any other planting, for West Street, and Old Market Street, Old Market BS2 This is a main gateway route into the city, it is also an important conservation area.

Suggest hanging baskets to be put on lamp columns on two central bus shelter islands on either 4 or all 8 columns. FirstBus have funded in the past on this location. This scheme would give a WOW factor. D James happy to approach local traders who have funded basked scheme in the past. Requires funding application

The entrance to the Bristol / Bath cycle route, again found just off West Street, Old Market, become a better cared for amenity. It is unkempt, suffering from uncollected litter, and again, it would benefit enormously from some careful, well maintained planting. Clean up The path that runs down the side of the Hop Pole pub on Avonvale Road. It leads to the green behind the pub, and is currently overgrown with elder. I am not proposing that the elder be removed, just cut back as the path is getting awkward to walk down and often suffers from dumping of rubbish. It might be good to put some weed suppressant down in the form of woodchip. Bulbs for housing land around the flats in Redcliffe (Redcliffe Neighbourhood Watch)

PG – suggest community pay back; any planting scheme would have to be maintained. Suggest scheme is carried out as part of launch of ‘Adopt the Cycle Path’ which is being launched on 4.11.10 PG – suggest community pay back project? Can be carried out Not enough works for Community Payback. by Clean & Green as part of Mon – Fri duties.
