Sport England's Protecting Playing Fields Programme Due To Open To Applications (England) Sport England has announced round 1 of their Protecting Playing Fields Programme (PPF) will open to applications on the 25th May 2011. Applications can be submitted by organisations such as voluntary or community organisations, local authorities, sports clubs, playing field associations, charities and education establishments. PPF is seeking to support projects that help communities maximise the sporting benefits of playing field land. Grants of between £20,000 and £50,000 will be available towards: Purchase of land for new playing fields and bringing disused playing fields back into use Purchase of playing field land where there is a known and established threat, such as through the expiry of a lease or a development proposal Improvements to existing pitches through levelling, drainage, reseeding and realignment. Local Education Authorities and schools are able to apply to the programme to provide new playing fields, bring into use disused playing fields or improve existing playing fields in order to establish and/or host a community club-schools link. All projects will be required to secure partnership funding. The application deadline for round 1 will be the 4th July 2011. http://www.sportengland.org/funding/protecting_playing_fields/programme_informatio n.aspx Funding Available for Youth Activities on Migration (UK) The British Red Cross has announced that grants of between £50 and up to £1000 are available to help to support youth action activities that promote more positive attitudes towards vulnerable migrants and awareness of the Millennium Development Goals. The grants are available to schools, colleges, universities, youth groups and student groups working with young people aged 12 to 25. If you are a group of older young people, aged 18-25, such as a youth group or student group, you can also apply using the grant application and the Positive Images Call to Action. Through the Positive Images youth action competition funded projects can also nominate a young person to take part in the Austrian Youth Red Cross international youth camp, 13-17 July 2011. The funding is managed by MissionFish, which has worked with eBay to deliver eBay for Charity since 2005, helping over 5,000 UK charities to raise over £25 million. If more than two sufficiently high quality applications are received, MissionFish may make further funds available to support them. Where relevant, a leading ecommerce solution provider, will also deliver the following services to successful applicants at no charge:
A year's ecommerce consultancy and advice, and a high-quality design upgrade and accompanying hosting and support (for a year) A Webstore, if required, at a highly subsidised cost. MissionFish will also try to provide additional support for grantees, where appropriate, such as mentoring and advice from a successful online business or trading charity, and professional advice on legal or tax issues to charities who need it. Women Make Music seeks to supports organisations to commission a new piece of music by UK-based women music creators working in any genre. Promoters, festivals, organisations and performance groups may also apply. Funding can be used towards the costs of first performances and/or fee for the music creator. Work that encourages new and adventurous collaborations will be priority. Women Make Music is also keen to support women performers/creators to write new tracks/pieces that they will perform live before the 8th March 2012. The premiere performance must be promoted or produced by a third party. Funding can be used to assist in the costs of the first performance. BBC Children in Need provides grants for up to three years to properly constituted not for profit organisations working with disadvantaged young people aged 18 or under. Within the BBC Children in Need grants programme, organisations can apply for Small Grants of £10,000 or less per year for up to three years and for Main Grants of over £10,000 per year for up to three years. Funding is available to organisations (including schools) that work with young people who are suffering from illness, distress, abuse or neglect, are disabled, have behavioural or psychological difficulties and / or are living in poverty or situations of deprivation. Examples of projects that recently received funding are; Relate Northamptonshire (£58, 589) - the project will provide counselling for disadvantaged children and young people in six schools in Northamptonshire, who have experienced domestic abuse, drug and alcohol abuse and family break up. The Worshipful Company of Weavers has announced that its Benevolent Fund is open to applications. The Fund is available to small registered charities and seeks to support projects working with disadvantaged young people aged from 5 to 30 years of age; to ensure they are given every possible chance to meet their full potential and to participate fully in society; and projects that addresses the social and economic problems faced by offenders, and ex-offenders and their families, and provide them with support, life skills training and a way back into education, training and/or employment. Grants available are of up to ÂŁ15,000.
