Shine Mural Festival

The annual mural festival returns in October to brighten city streets

It’s easy to see why St. Pete’s “City of the Arts” moniker rings so true by simply taking a walk along Central Avenue or any of the city’s arts districts. Since 2015, the annual SHINE Mural Festival has brought in top local, national and international artists to transform downtown into a world-class outdoor art gallery with more than 100 murals attributed to SHINE artists.

SHINE™ Mural Festival is back for its seventh year October 15-24 with a fresh lineup featuring some of the world’s best mural artists. SHINE will ignite the streets of St. Pete with 16 new murals located throughout the arts districts, plus a series of Bright Spots — community murals to engage and inspire, according to Jenee Priebe, festival organizer for the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance. Bright Spot murals will include a tribute to health care workers in partnership with Bayfront Health and local artist Leo Gomez, and a Mural 101 course for middle school students with the Shirley

Additional highlights this year include Bayboro Brewing’s Kuko Release Day on October 16, an all-day event celebrating the seasonal release of Kuko, Bayboro’s passionfruit American wheat beer brewed to support the SHINE Mural Festival. A Shine Year 7 art exhibition at MIZE Gallery will feature work by 77 local artists and a pop-up market opening October 22.

Artist lineup will be announced in early September and a map of murals will be released in early October. Stay up to date on all the latest festival news at @shineonstpete on Instagram and Facebook or visit stpeteartsalliance.org/ shine-mural-festival.
