REMINDER: due to COVID-19, we will require firm RSVP’s for all meetings, to properly plan out the meeting space. While many members may not be able to join this event, we are planning for our speaker events to be ZOOMED.

On Wednesday, October 21st Olivia Lopez, a certified transcendental meditation coach, will teach us about an effortless way to allow our active mind to settle inward, reduce stress and anxiety, improve brain function and cardiovascular health. We can all use a little stress relief and diversion from unfolding events.

Be sure to mark your calendars for November 18th - Holiday Desserts. Our own talented pastry chef, Suzann Gendrot, will entice our taste buds with some of her delicious creations offering creative delectable treats for the holidays.

Single Barrel’s shotgun had only one barrel. Everybody else had two. Everybody else also had considerable shooting experience. Single barrel had none. He joined the Wing Shooters in 2015 because his friend, known as Money Man, convinced him it was a good group. Shooting experience really didn’t matter, the Wing Shooters needed members. In two years time thousands of trigger pulls and lots of advice from all his new friends yielded good shooting skills. He even bought a double barrel, now that is progress. He also became a vital cog in the Wing Shooters. In fact, in 2017 he became the 2nd Grand Marshall. He had an education background which meant classroom management skills. He quickly found those skills were useless. The traditions established under Pull, the

1st Grand Marshall, would not be displaced. There were no rules and certainly no tolerance for a syllabus. He learned quickly and the Wing Shooters prospered under his able leadership. After a year as the Grand Marshall he passed the symbol of authority, an old and heavy hand clay thrower, to Gene Collins. And that friendship with Money Man, also known as Jack Cartier, is better than ever. That’s the way it is in the Wing Shooters. Just ask Tom Hatton, also known as Single Barrel.

Those wishing to join the Wing Shooters Society are encouraged to contact Grand Marshall, Gene Collins at (727) 385-4878, or genebcollins@hotmail.com.

At the Downtown Clubhouse or SPYC @ PAG.

GOLF GROUP by Connie Smith

Let’s give a big “Thank You” and “Shout Out” to our fearless leaders of our Golf Group, Susan and John Arsenault, for their efforts in keeping our spirits high during these past months!

The end of September outing was scheduled at the Vinoy Golf Club and our results will have to be announced next month. Our October outing will be at St. Peterburg Country Club, a venue that was set for our Member/Guest tournament in May but had to be cancelled because of COVID precautions. The November outing is still in the planning stage but will prove to be a “not to be missed” event. Traditionally we take a day trip to Innisbrook Golf Resort in December and enjoy a challenging and enjoyable day on one of the beautiful courses. We have booked the evening of December BROAD

have been reaching, running, beating, tacking, gybing, and enjoying the best of sailing and camaraderie with a wonderful group of women. We are 46 members strong, with 32 active sailors, some who have been sailing for decades; others who are just beginning. We gather Saturday mornings at the Clubhouse at Pass-a-Grille to sail in Optimist Prams, and throughout the year we compete in interclub regattas hosted by other member clubs of the Florida Women’s Sailing Association. We host our signature Commodore Lucas Cup Regatta every fall, with competitors from women’s sailing clubs up and down Florida’s west coast. 3rd at the Club to celebrate everyone who has participated this year with a Holiday Party to rival all parties!

Let us welcome a group of new members to our group and look forward to having them on our scramble teams: Charles Bruner, Mary Deininger, Mark Foster, Patty and Dave Gabri, Sandio Gracio, Melvyn Weinstock, Brad Bell, Scott Boyle.

A reminder that dues for this year are $35 and will be automatically charged to a golf member’s club account. We use this fee to assist with expenses for our Holiday party and for lunches for the players at most outings.

All SPYC members are invited to play with us one time to try us out and then join our group by contacting Susan at sueatcp@aol.com.
