John Brown • Employee of the Year for 2021

Congratulations to John Brown for winning the title of Employee of the Year for 2021! John is a 14 year, behind the scenes employee who has won Employee of the Month at least four times over the years! John is a part of our Housekeeping Department - you can find John doing many things here at the Club such as setting up rooms, polishing trophies, organizing, helping out in laundry with the tablecloths and napkins, and from time to time giving maintenance a hand with painting projects.

John never says no – there is no task too big or too little that John can't handle. He is greatly appreciated by both the staff and the members, making him most deserving of this award. Thank you, John, for a job well done!

Kyle Runnfeldt

Employee of the Year Runner-Up for 2021

Congratulations to SPYC’s Kyle Runnfeldt for being selected as the Runner-Up for 2021’s Employee of the Year! Kyle has been an integral part of the Sailing Center team, handling the lion’s share of our fleet maintenance and ongoing sailing program support.

Originally from Jacksonville, Kyle learned to sail in Florida Yacht Club’s youth sailing program before migrating to St. Pete for college. His positive attitude and steadfast reliability are some of the reasons why Kyle continues to be an amazing asset to the Club’s Waterfront Team.

Joel Griffith-Latham

January Employee of the Month

Congratulations to Joel Griffith-Latham, our January Employee of the Month! Joel became a part of the SPYC team in April of last year. He moved to the St. Petersburg area from Hawaii where he was stationed in the Navy. Joel is currently a full-time student in college to become a nurse, as well as working full-time in our Valet department. He is usually one of the first employees you will come in contact with; as he is standing in the garage giving you a warm wave and a big smile. With that being said, please take a few minutes to congratulate him on a job well done. Way to go Joel!
