Past Captain Kathy Ahern received the Pat Seidenspinner Award and the Commodore’s Award for her leadership and management skills in supporting the water activities at SPYC. Kathy is known as “an organizer, teacher, ambassador, mentor to all who need assistance, but also a fun-loving warm person”.

Her participation has included innumerable committee or safety boats here and abroad (rescuing many sailors), coordinating and teaching safety and rescue topics such as Safety at Sea, CPR, and “Stop the Bleed”, chairing major events and activities including Lightning, International A-Cats North Americans Championship, and as a member of the team for the Regata del Sol al Sol. Additionally she has served as Jury Secretary for Helly Hansen (NOOD). Salty Sisters are very proud of Kathy’s achievements!

July “sailing” has been a bit of a challenge for the Broads as our prams have been loaned to the Sailing Center for use in the Youth Summer Sailing Camp. We’ve made due with a bit of social and on one rainy day, accompanied by fascinated staff, some rousing and rowdy RummyCube games. We’re on track to be back on the water again this month.
