Acorns and Conkers have had a colourful week in PE this week, exploring different ways to move their scarfs. The children soon realised that they could be transformed into either a superhero or a helicopter. We then looked at slow and fast movements with their scarves. Playing music in the background, to identify which speed they needed to move their scarf to match the tempo of the music.

Miss Flockhart then challenged the children to throw their scarf into the air and catch it on the heads. This caused a lot of laughter and determination to move their bodies underneath the scarf. With Christmas around the corner, Miss Flockhart thought the children could practice their wrapping skills, by adding a beanbag and wrapping their scarf up to then throw in the air and catch it. The children

found this trickier as the scarf and beanbag fell a lot quicker this time. Although Miss Flockhart and Miss Hopper were very impressed with the Rita Resilience that all the children demonstrated.

Take a look at our superstars in action with their colourful scarfs and beanbags.

ACORNS

CONKERS

This week has been full of mischief thanks to our old friend Ernie the elf! He returned to Nursery on Monday leaving cheeky clues all around! On Wednesday down at forest school, he finally made an appearance… Let the fun begin!

This week in Reception... it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Christmas play rehearsals are now in full swing; props, pianos, chime bars, singing and dancing are all part of our Christmas extravaganza. We have been very impressed by the children's dance moves and enthusiastic singing, and we hope you are looking forward to seeing them all perform next week.

Christmas is coming!

1 children watched a theatre performance This week has been a very exciting week in of Little Red Riding Hood in the Rayson Room. We had lots of laughs and giggles Year 1 as we are now in the month of watching this but we also learnt how December which means those little Christmas Elves appear! The children have important it is for us to use a big voice on the stage. been so excited to share their stories about the Elves in their houses and open their advent calendars! In preparation for Christmas, the Year 1 children have been polishing off their incredible Christmas Play all week! We must just say a big big well done to all of the children for this! You are truly incredible performers and we are very proud of you all! We hope you all love the play next week and all of the hard work the children have put into it. We are all excited to decorate our classrooms with our friends this week! As a special treat and to help us see how real actors perform on the stage, the Year

Also on the Christmas theme and in the forest, the children have been creating their own Christmas trees. We explored the skill of tying to fasten the sticks together and thought creatively for ways to produce something to go on the top of them! This was quite a fiddly job but the children demonstrated great resilience with this and produce some living roomworthy Christmas trees! The children have been exploring 3D

YEAR 2

Christmas has certainly arrived in Year 2 this week! On Monday afternoon we had a special delivery of beautiful Christmas trees and with them, Croakbag left us a message asking us to find out about Christmas traditions! We discovered that many of the traditions we love today were started in the Victorian era! Did you know that Prince Albert brought the idea of the Christmas tree over from Germany and decorated a tree for Queen Victoria and so the tradition we all love today, began! Many Christmas traditions were started by the Victorians from crackers and Christmas cards to mince pies! This week the children have been researching information about Queen Victoria and

drew a portrait of her on her coronation day. Did you know she had nine children and forty grandchildren! Speaking of children, ours have been very eager to decorate our Christmas trees and made very cute little paper candles! In art, the children were inspired to paint their own Victorian Christmas scenes using watercolours and then wrote a detailed description describing their Christmas pictures using adjectives. On top of all of this, we have been very busy rehearsing for our Christmas production of ‘BahHumbug!’ and we are so proud of how well the children have remembered their lines; we know it’s going to be a fantastic performance! Have a lovely weekend!

Year Three have had an incredibly busy week rehearsing for our Christmas Play, Cinderella and Rockerfella. We have been working on using expression and actions to bring characters to life and cannot wait to get into costume and perform in front of our audience next week! As we approach the end of The

Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe

Thank you to Chef Stuart for our tasty half time snacks – they went down a treat! We wrote a review of our trip the next day and it is clear from the feedback that we would highly recommend the show to anyone!

themed learning, we thought it would be a wonderful experience for the children to go and watch it being performed live at the theatre. We took the coach up to Sunderland after lunch and settled in our prime seats to watch the live show.

We’re continuing to work on alternative multiplication methods in maths and are looking forward to bringing some festive cheer to our learning over the remaining couple of weeks. Well done Year 3, a busy but super week!
