PE KIT

Dear all,

I thought I would take the opportunity to clarify the kit list to you all. With the winter approaching, it is important to ensure that the children are wrapped up in the correct kit. Please also provide your child with a jumper/mid layer and tracksuit bottoms, due to the colder weather approaching. They can always take them off, to t-shirt and shorts if they become too warm. I hope this table is clear and helps with the confusion of socks etc. (Mainly Year 3s, as it changes). Many thanks for your cooperation and continued support. Miss Flockhart Day

New year, new trainers and we have certainly put them to the test this week! It's been great to have the children back at St Peter’s 2-8. I was delighted with the energy and enthusiasm they have shown through various activities. From hockey in Year 3 to balance and co-ordination skills in Reception, the children have settled straight back into school life. Here are a few photos of some of the skills that have been on display this week!

We have all been settling in to the new surroundings and exploring all the amazing areas of provision, one of our firm favourites has most definitely been the

Acorns

messy area! It’s been so much fun getting to know our new daily routine and we feel super proud of ourselves for how well we have all adapted so quickly. We really are so excited to continue on our fun, new and engaging adventure all together!

Nursery

Wow! What a fabulous first week it has been in Nursery for all our little learners! It has been just so lovely to see and hear the sound of happy and busy play in both the Acorns and Conkers.

the baby dolls in the nursery. In the snug we have been developing our muscles in the dough area! Many cupcakes, birthday cakes, pizzas and food have been baked in the oven! Outside has been just as busy too!

What an amazing start the children have had on their adventure into Reception! The children have been incredibly busy exploring their new classroom, both inside and outside! This year is a very special year for Reception as we have a secret Holly House that lives under the Holly Tree. The Holly House is a special place for us to visit and it is full of many cosy rugs and cushions! We wonder if you have noticed it yet? As a part of getting to know each other and to help us make new friends, the children have been sharing and telling everyone about their special sharing stars! We have discovered so many interesting facts about each other such as who lives in their house, what foods they like, what interests they have and what they like to read and watch on TV (plus many more!)

The mud kitchen has been very popular just like the dough area! Mud pies, salads and pizzas have all been cooking away in the microwave and mixed together with herbs to add flavour and scent! Lots of jumping, running and climbing has taken place outside this week! Many children have demonstrated great determination and resilience as they climbed to the very top of the tower showing great risk taking and safety awareness! We have also loved seeing the giant obstacle courses and racing cars the children have built using our outdoor construction resources!

The water pump and water car has been flowing with lots of water! The children have discovered how to operate the water pump - big muscles and a push and pull movement is definitely needed! The children have been filling up and pouring into many different sized containers and even transported them around the playground by The teachers have been showing everybody how to play in the areas using the water car! This was very heavy and team work was needed! in our classroom and everybody listened very carefully to this. We hope you all managed to see the video we sent home to show you on On Thursday the Reception children went on a walk to Forest Evidence Me which gives you a sneak peek around our setting– it is School! The children walked sensibly and safely with their muddy on our youtube channel now too: https://youtu.be/xlri4YEftlQ buddy and noticed emerging signs of Autumn! Deep in the forest, we saw and heard conkers falling down from the trees! We counted In the classroom, the children have explored the Art Studio! They how many we could find, played on the swings, climbed trees and have been busy painting on the easel like real Artists and have found lots of slugs under logs! constructed many junk modelling creations such as crowns and bracelets! What a very busy first week we have all had! A big, big, big well In the home corner, the children have been re-living what happens done to all of the children in Reception, all of the grown-ups are very proud of you! in their own home! Cups of coffee and tea have been brewed and dinner tables set. We have had lots of caring children looking after

YEAR 1

What a brilliant start to the new academic year for Year 1! This week the children have been exploring their new classrooms and the outside area. We have done woodwork, made our own playdough and had lots of fun whilst getting to know each other again. Down at Forest School we learned how to whittle sticks and found many conkers which we have brought back to our mud kitchen to use in recipes. We expect a lot of tired little people this weekend. Let’s do it all again on Monday!

YEAR 2

All of the Year 2 team were so happy to be back in school, welcoming a very excited group of children- our new 2H and 2J! The day was full of surprises, starting with the fact that Alexei’s 7th birthday was on the first day! We received a mysterious parcel in the morning, with a beautiful gold letter. In the parcel was the story of The Firebird, which we started to read. The tale appeared to be an old Russian legend, with a story of golden apples disappearing from a King’s tree. We decided to visit Forest School in the afternoon, where there are plenty of trees and look for clues! We were so excited to find golden apples hanging from the trees, which we collected and hung on our trees in our classrooms. We tried to make a fire to cook some apples on, but the rain spoilt our plans- we’ll try again next week! There have been other mysteries, such as glittery areas on our carpets, a golden egg in a toy box and a strange smoky smell- we think this all means that we have a welcome visitor! Amongst all this excitement, we have found time

to learn about nouns, to revise place value and to practise using all the Year 2 maths equipment that we have to support our learning. We also started the famous Art Wednesdays by using our OWN boxes of new paint to make colour wheels in watercolour and begun regular yoga and Joe Wicks PE sessions in the mornings. Phew! Mrs Hall, Miss Jeffrey, Mrs Franey and Mrs Moss would like to say a massive thank you to the children (and everyone at home) for making the return to school so positive. The children have loved being back in school, learning and playing with their friends. Some early nights this weekend will help us all recharge our batteries before Monday!
