Kanuga for the annual parish retreat over Memorial Day Weekend, enjoying the

CHILDR EN The Nurturing Center is open for children three and younger from 8:30 a.m. through the end of the 11:15 a.m. service each week.

Welcome back to the Prayer Corner, a space in the Times where we share ways we

lift our thoughts and words to God in prayer. The Spiritual Formation and Nurture Committee introduced the Prayer Corner last summer and we learned many

different ways parishioners and clergy integrate prayer into their busy daily lives.

This summer the Prayer Corner will focus on intercessory prayer. Described

as “requests for God's blessing and healing grace for others,” we will learn about intercessory prayers within our services and in many other places in our lives.

Have you ever looked at the prayer list in the service leaflet on a Sunday and

wondered, “Where do I begin?” Or has a friend, after sharing a concern with

you, finished by asking for your prayers for a loved one or themselves? While your response is “of course,” you may be thinking “what do I do now?”

In the coming weeks, parishioners and clergy will share their thoughts and

practices about praying for others. We hope you will find something you can try for this first time or something you can revisit with renewed energy.

DEATH Wayne Lawrence Waltrip, died May 24, 2017

David Hurd is internationally recognized as one of the foremost church musicians and concert organists in the United States, with a long list of honors and achievements, and extraordinary expertise in organ performance, improvisation, and composition.

He is the widely published composer of dozens of hymns, choral works, settings of the liturgy, and organ works, and was one of the major contributors of new music to The Hymnal 1982 of the Episcopal Church.

CATHEDR AL TOWERS ART SHOW The Cathedral Towers will host its first annual art show Friday–Sunday, June 2–4,

featuring work by the many talented residents of the Towers. Artists range in age from 78–91, and many of the works will be available for purchase.

The jewelry artist, Louella Simpson, teaches jewelry making at Chastain Park. Her

pieces are done in mixed metals, enamels, and hand-made cloisonné, and they are fantastic gifts.

Many of the painters have exhibited throughout the southeast.The painting below is by Bob Kiger. He paints

scenes from his travels around the world, still-life and custom commissions.

The opening reception will be Friday, June 2 at 6 p.m. in the lobby of the Towers. All are welcome to the

reception, with a suggested minimum donation of $3 per person. All donations will go to Dr. Duffy at Peachtree

Hills Animal Hospital. Dr. Duffy has taken care of our residents’ pets for many years at free or reduced rates. The Towers community is excited to give back to this wonderful friend.
