THANK YOU FOR JOY AND GENEROSITY IN THE GOOD FAITH CHAPEL!

Thank you for the prayer and the joy, the generosity and the digging, the psalms and the singing, last Sunday, November 10, 2024, when we broke ground for the Good Faith Chapel. Wow! What fun!

With the Cathedral wardens and steering committee, with the clergy, and with worshippers of all ages, we prepared the ground for the Good Faith Chapel; it will be a mid-sized octagonal worship space with movable furniture for many configurations of liturgy and gathering. It will be a place for meditation and contemplative prayer, and for joy and wonder; it will expand our presence as a house of prayer for all people. Construction will begin in the coming weeks. Watch for it!

During our ceremony, we prayed the psalms (121 and 122, and then 126 and 127), and we sang “Lift Up Your Heads, Ye Mighty Gates.” And we prayed these following prayers. Even if you were not here on November 10, please pray, and continue to pray, these prayers with me. Thank you for prayer and generosity!

Gracious God, we thank you for this land, and for this holy space. Years ago, a house stood here. An apartment building stood here. Recently, lovely trees have grown here, and children have delighted in play. We thank you for the holiness of this place. People have lived and loved. Beautiful trees have grown. Children have played.

Today, we gather to sanctify this space even further, preparing the way for The Good Faith Chapel. We seek to grow our faith and life even larger, expanding our vision to be a House of Prayer For All People. AMEN.

We give you thanks, O God, for generosity, the generosity of those have shared a vision of this future chapel, and for the generosity of those who have pledged and given resources for its construction. We thank you for good faith, We pray for safety in this project. We pray for all who will touch this chapel with their tools and with their energy. AMEN.

We hereby break the ground in the preparation for the construction of The Good Faith Chapel!

WITH GRATEFUL HEARTS, GIVE TO UNITED THANK OFFERING

THIS SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 17

This Sunday, November 17 is United Thank Offering (UTO) Sunday, when we’ll come together with the worldwide Episcopal community to give thanks and give in the thanksgiving for God’s blessings, then give back. Even the smallest acts of gratitude and giving can create a meaningful impact on your own life and on the struggling communities that UTO grants support.

We invite you to spend a few moments this week to pause with gratitude to consider the gifts God has given you, then this Sunday, November 17 make a thank offering in church, via the QR Code below or at cathedralATL.org/uto. Our collective giving enables UTO 2025 grant giving for ministries focused on communities impacted by water access, water quality and environmental impacts.

Matthew 25:34-35

Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in.

!After a fun and prayerful groundbreaking ceremony last Sunday, the Good Faith Chapel is underway! All cars will enter and exit at Peachtree Road; pedestrians can access the Cathedral campus from Andrews Drive via the stone path at the Lanier House or the service driveway to Mikell Chapel. We have worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation to change the traffic light timing at Peachtree Road. As always, please drive slowly, use courtesy, and exercise patience. OUTREACH

HABITAT CHRISTMAS BASKETS

If you have ever been a part of the Habitat Christmas basket delivery efforts, you know the wonder of the experience. Whether you donate items for the basket contents, participate in assembling the baskets—which are really boxes—the night before delivery, or participate in the fellowship of delivery, you will surely feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. The whole effort is simply joyful.

This ministry is a combination of effort from all over the Cathedral. Please register at cathedralATL.org/habitatbaskets and consider how your home can help us wish the 27 families for whom we have built homes in the past a wonderful holiday season again this year. They love these boxes, and we love the opportunity to remind them that they are always in our hearts.

To volunteer, please visit cathedralATL.org/habitatbaskets. Please contact the Rev. Canon Julia Mitchener, julia.mitchener@cathedralATL.org with any questions.

Thank you so much for your help!
