THE ANNUAL PARISH MEETING OF THE CATHEDRAL OF ST. PHILIP IS THIS SUNDAY!
Whatever service you usually attend, and whoever you are, please join us this Sunday, December 8, at 10:10 a.m., in Child Hall, for the annual parish meeting of the Cathedral of St. Philip! No adult education classes will meet during this time.
At this meeting, all members—and all associate members, friends, and visitors!—gather together for common celebration. Ours is a grand community, a “great community of communities,” and this parish meeting is our opportunity to gather in one place.
Join us! As in recent years, we will meet during the regular education hour. We will hear short reports from myself and from several parish leaders. The annual parish report, with its complete review of the 2024 year, will also be distributed.
Please pray for the slate of Chapter nominees for the 2027 Chapter class. Our Nominating Committee has worked faithfully and efficiently to present a slate of six excellent nominees: Susan Gantt, Doug Hall, Trish Lewis, Haven Long, Mary Chase Mize, and Fred Rose. Geoff DeLong continues his two-year term as Senior Warden. The Nominating Committee has also nominated Mary Hall Perrin as Junior Warden for 2025-2026. Please see pages 4-5 for their biographies.
See you Sunday!

After a fun and prayerful groundbreaking ceremony earlier in November, the Good Faith Chapel is underway! Traffic patterns into and out of the Cathedral parking lot will change throughout construction.
• On weekdays, the Andrews Drive driveway will be closed in both directions. All cars will enter and exit at Peachtree Road; pedestrians can access the Cathedral campus from Andrews Drive via the stone path at the Lanier House or a new sidewalk leading to Mikell Chapel.
• On weekends, the Andrews Drive driveway will be one-way only into the parking lot. All cars will exit at Peachtree Road. Pedestrians can access the Cathedral campus from Andrews Drive via the driveway, the stone path at the Lanier House, or a new sidewalk leading to Mikell Chapel.
We have worked with the Georgia Department of Transportation to change the traffic light timing at Peachtree Road. As always, please drive slow, use courtesy, and exercise patience. For more information, contact David Rocchio, drocchio@cathedralATL.org or 404-365-1033. Thank you!

MUSIC
A CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL OF NINE LESSONS AND CAROLS
SUNDAY, DECEMBER 22, 2024 AT 4 P.M.
CATHEDRAL NAVE
Cathedral Schola
Dale Adelmann, conductor
Modeled on the beloved carol service broadcast each Christmas Eve from King’s College, Cambridge, this is our most popular choral service of the year. Ancient prophecies foretelling the coming of a Messiah and the Gospel accounts of the birth of Jesus are illumined by extra-biblical texts, anthems and Christmas carols that have inspired composers, choirs, and worshipers throughout the world and across time. For those who are traveling at Christmas and wish first to celebrate with loved ones here at home, and for all who hold the music and message of Christmas dear, this service is a meaningful and joyous way to celebrate the season. All are welcome! Invite a friend: it may be the best gift you give.

ADVENT QUIET DAY
The Promise of Advent: A Day of Reflection and Renewal Saturday, December 7
9:30 a.m.–2 p.m., Lanier House
Step away from the busyness of the season and join us for a quiet day of spiritual reflection and renewal. Canon George Maxwell and Mary Hunter Maxwell will guide us on a journey through the Advent themes of hope, peace, joy, and love. We will explore how these virtues shape our preparation for Christ’s coming—past, present, and future.
Through scripture readings, reflective prompts, and simple spiritual practices, we will deepen our awareness of God’s presence in our lives. The day will include time for journaling, silence, and prayer, culminating in a closing Eucharist with an opportunity for sharing.
Whether you are seeking stillness, spiritual growth, or a meaningful way to enter into the season of Advent, this Quiet Day offers a sacred space to pause, listen, and prepare your heart.
• What to Bring: A Bible, a journal, a pen, and a heart open to reflection.
• Cost: $25 (lunch is included)
If you have any questions, please contact Jeannie Mahood at jmahood@cathedralatl.org.
Come and rediscover the promise of Advent—a promise of God’s light breaking into our waiting, our preparing, and our longing.

ST. VERONICA’S GUILD EPIPHANY DRIVE RETURNS TO THE ATRIUM IN JANUARY
In Epiphany the Wise Men came from the East, bringing gifts to the Christ Child. In this Epiphany the wise women of St. Veronica’s Guild will be coming to the Atrium for their annual Epiphany Drive to raise funds for their gifts of toiletries to four Atlanta ministries. The drive, St. Veronica’s wise women will tell you, will help underwrite costs for the toiletries they give six times during the year to help Emmaus House, Church of the Common Ground, Holy Comforter Friendship Center, and Crossroads Community Ministries serve thousands of our Atlanta neighbors who struggle with poverty, housing and health challenges. Watch the Cathedral Times and the Outreach e-newsletter to learn more about this ministry and visit cathedralATL.org/toiletries to donate.
