A LETTER FROM THE CO-CHAIRS
January 24-25, 2025, will be an exciting few days celebrating the joy of home and hospitality, with all net proceeds benefiting our 2025 beneficiary, Wellspring Living. Continuing a long tradition of philanthropic giving to the Atlanta community, the weekend will be a design and entertainment showcase. We hope many of you can join us for the Welcome Party, Designer Panel, and Tour of Homes. It is going to be a spectacular weekend and we look forward to seeing you!
ABOUT THE BENEFICIARY
Since 2001, Wellspring Living has provided domestic sex trafficking victims and those at risk with comprehensive, trauma-informed, victimcentered recovery services through residential programs, communitybased programs, and post-program support. With Cathedral Giving by Design proceeds supporting the creation of new tiny homes on their campus, supporting the Welcome Home campaign for Wellspring Living ties seamlessly with our mission of celebrating homes and lifting up our community. Survivors will be provided with community, therapy, and most importantly a safe space to call home on their journey to wholeness.
ABOUT THE EVENT

The 2025 event will kick-off January 24 with a festive Friday night Welcome Home Party: an evening of cocktails, food by Soirée, and exciting 2025 Kentucky Derby trip raffle and a live auction featuring one-ofa-kind trips and experiences. On Saturday morning, January 25, Christina Dandar of The Potted Boxwood welcomes Ashley Gilbreath, Phoebe Howard, Melanie Millner and John Plaster for a panel titled: “Beyond the Front Door: Trends in Decorating, Lifestyles, and Entertaining.”
Following the panel, we will offer a highly anticipated Tour of Homes. Four stunning Atlanta homes will be available to tour in person. Get ready to experience incredible details by the homes’ designers, architects, and homeowners.
This event has been a labor of love and would not be possible without our wonderful committee. The Cathedral of St. Philip is a special place, with a long history of coming together with the Atlanta community to serve those in need. We want to express our sincere gratitude to those who have supported Cathedral Giving by Design and Wellspring Living. A special thank you to our Honorary Chairs, Nancy and Randy Rizor, Dean Candler and the Cathedral clergy and staff for their support and guidance.
With gratitude,

Are you new to the Cathedral? Or newish? Join us this Sunday, January 19 for a tour!
We're Glad You're Here!
THIS SUNDAY, JANUARY 19
The Dean’s Forum: A Focus on Orion 10:10 a.m., Child Hall
ADULT Education
“Seek him who made the Pleiades and Orion, and turns deep darkness into the morning, and darkens the day into night.” That verse, from Amos 5:8, is one of the opening sentences in our Evensong liturgy. Dean Sam Candler will talk about Orion this Sunday, in a special “Dean’s Forum,” presentation about the constellation, Orion! He will include special astronomy slides and local photographs, too. Join us in Child Hall, at 10:10 am!
Living Faith
10:10 a.m., Room 239
Join us as we learn what it means to live out our faith through conversation with scripture and tradition, contemporary books, and, most importantly, one another. We are discussing David Brooks’s bestselling book How to Know a Person: The Art of Seeing Others Deeply and Being Deeply Seen. Intended for anyone seeking deeper a connection with others and yearning to be understood, this title draws from the worlds of religion, education, theater, neuroscience, psychology, and more. For more information, please contact Canon Julia Mitchener, julia.mitchener@cathedralATL.org.
Enjoy Biblical Greek!
1:15 p.m., Room 239 and on Zoom
Young Professionals Sunday School: Baptism & Eucharist 10:10 a.m., Room 368
Over the next four weeks, the Young Professionals Sunday School class will journey into the sacraments of Baptism and Eucharist— foundational practices of our faith that invite us into deeper communion with God, strengthen our bond with one another, and unite us with the universal Body of Christ.
Whether you’re new to exploring these topics or looking for fresh insights, this class promises thoughtful discussion and opportunities for spiritual growth. All young professionals are welcome—come as you are! For more information, please contact The Rev. Salmoon Bashir, sbashir@cathedralATL.org, or 404-365-1035.
Godly Play Parents (GPP)
10:10 a.m., Room 316
Join fellow Godly Play parents and Deacon Linda Rosengren weekly for fellowship and conversation as we explore how we might engage in the stories and lessons of the Bible alongside our children. Contact Lynn Wilmoth, lwilmoth@cathedralATL.org, for more information.
This newcomer-friendly class is open to beginners, while including long-term members who enjoy exchanging tips, best learning practices, and coaching points on how to translate the Greek New Testament. The goal is enhanced Bible study, not language mastery. Provided on a drop-in basis, first-time visitors need no previous knowledge of Greek. Please contact the Rev. Dr. Thee Smith, tsmith@cathedralATL.org, for more information.

ST. VERONICA GUILD’S 2025 EPIPHANY
DRIVE CONTINUES
The recipients of the toiletries provided by St. Veronica’s Guild face a variety of challenges including poverty, poor health, and lack of affordable housing.
Men, women, and children alike can use these toiletries as they seek to maintain their lives with dignity. More than 12,000 individual items are packaged for distribution each year through Church of the Common Ground, Church of the Holy Comforter, Crossroads Community Ministries, and Emmaus House. The toiletries include basic care items such as bars of soap, wash cloths, shampoo, lotion, toothbrushes, toothpaste, and deodorant.
Purchasing costs of these toiletries are carefully controlled to maximize the effectiveness of each dollar spent. Every donation of any size will have an impact on this outreach ministry. Please help us continue this ministry by making a donation using the QR code or in-person on Sunday mornings during Epiphany.

STEWARDSHIP
THANK YOU FOR FINANCIALLY SUPPORTING THE CATHEDRAL IN 2024!
Thank you to everyone who financially supported the Cathedral of St. Philip in 2024! We could not have not done it without you! It was an epic year with many new clergy and staff arrivals, the launch of the Good Faith Chapel Campaign, and the creation of the Cathedral Towers Fund. More than 1,500 families and individuals prayerfully and meaningfully made contributions every single day of the year. You are a blessing and you blessed this sacred place immeasurably in 2024! Thank you and best wishes in 2025!

FAITHFUL Politics
BRAVER ANGELS WORKSHOPS
With political change swirling around us, and the Presidential inauguration on January 20, we’d like to offer some opportunities for Cathedral parishioners, friends, and neighbors to explore how our Baptismal Covenant informs our civic and political engagement. Braver Angels is America’s largest organization that brings conservatives and progressives together on equal terms to understand our differences, find common ground where it exists, and help the country we all love find a better way. We have two opportunities in the coming weeks to explore how we “seek and serve Christ in all persons, …strive for justice and peace among all people, and respect the dignity of every human being.” Contact Canon George Maxwell, gmaxwell@cathedralATL.org, or Jeannie Mahood, jmahood@cathedralATL.org, for more information.
DEPOLARIZING OURSELVES
Saturday, January 18
12 p.m.–2 p.m., Room 316
Participants develop strategies for engaging in politics without demonizing the other side, and constructively intervene in conversations with like-minded peers. We begin at noon with lunch in room 316 (just upstairs from the main entrance). Pizza and bottled water will be provided. You are welcome to bring other food and drink if you prefer. We end at 2 p.m. Register at cathedralATL.org/JANbraverangels.
COMMON GROUND WORKSHOP ON IMMIGRATION
Saturday, February 8
10 a.m.–3 p.m., Lanier House (lunch included)
This Braver Angels Common Ground Workshop will bring together equal numbers of Conservatives and Liberals - Reds and Blues (4-8 of each) - for a structured deep dive into this issue of Immigration. Together participants talk about their connection to the issue and their opinion on solutions. By the end of the 5-hour event they have come up with jointly and unanimously held Points of Agreements on values, concerns and policies. You can join us as a participant or observer. Everyone will receive brief educational materials on immigration.
“Are you willing to listen to the other side, and are you willing to speak to the other side with respect?” If yes, please join us! Register at cathedralATL.org/FEBbraverangels.
