From the Head of School
Since my arrival in June, it has been abundantly clear that St. Pius X High School is a truly special place. SPX has a strong history of excellence, but it is the members of this community that have truly touched me. We are constantly in the midst of exceptional stories here at St. Pius X - from our students who stir us with their talents, to the faculty who pour their hearts into every lesson. The most important thing that happens every day at St. Pius X High School happens in the classrooms and offices of the professionals who serve in ministry at the school. The love and dedication of those serving in ministry for our students is a powerful example of our mission in action. I am inspired each day by the passionate faculty and staff that call St. Pius X High School home.
This fall, we returned to a fully oncampus school schedule after a year of distance and hybrid learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Students, faculty/ staff, and families have once again risen to the occasion, recognizing the need to partner together as a community. We have diligently monitored community health and were able to employ a fulltime nurse in October to support COVID19 management and monitoring efforts on campus. When I reflect on the challenges we encountered, I am reminded of the verse Romans 8:28– “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God.” We have truly worked together through the grace of God, emerging stronger. Now, more than ever, we understand the value of steadfast unity. We remain rooted in a foundation of faith. Our students remain my greatest source of pride and inspiration. They are some of the most joy-filled individuals I’ve had the pleasure of serving. Our students are creative, intelligent, and kind. Some of our leadership-driven men and women helped to form the Student Advisory Leadership Committee at the start of the 2021 school year. This group of students, in collaboration with school leadership, has paved the way for new traditions and student spirit days like Food Truck Friday and Panther Pride Days. I am extremely proud of these students, and grateful for the opportunities we can extend to them. As we celebrate our 65th jubilee year, St. Pius X High School remains true to its founding Dominican values. Prayer, study, community, and preaching are the pillars of everything we do. When I look at what we have accomplished this year, the future of St. Pius X High School looks brighter than ever before. “All things work together for good to them that love God.” I truly believe that we are working towards something greater than any individual; we are working together to build a legacy and to foster a place where students can discover the Veritas men and women they were born to be. I extend my warmest gratitude to each of you who have contributed in time, talent, or treasure towards the mission of St. Pius X High School. I am extremely proud to serve this institution, and I look forward to an exciting journey with this incredible Panther family.
