Fall Athletic Recaps

Volleyball

SPX Volleyball worked through a rebuilding campaign, as the Panthers battled through tough competition all year. However, the season was not without its bright spots as several players earned postseason recognition. Zoe Humphrey ‘24 shined for St. Pius X, earning All-State and All-Academic honors. Brianna Lewis ‘23 and Sophie Sharp ‘26 also obtained Honorable-Mentions for their impressive performances.

Cross Country

SPX Cross Country had a rock-solid 2022 season, with stalwarts improving and new talent breaking through. Led by Anna Bordas ‘23, several runners were consistently in contention at highly competitive meets. Bordas would finish 10th overall in the TAPPS 6A Championship, and the Boys team would land two finishers in the top 20 for a 9th place finish overall. As multiple runners experience their first full offseason, this team is one to watch next year!

Football

In the Fall 2022 season, SPX Football made inroads to converting their massive potential, advancing to the Regional Finals for the first time in four years! While their early season form carried moments of turbulence, the Panthers saw sparks from key players that foreshadowed late-season success.

Starting the District schedule with two big wins, the Panthers fought through a difficult stretch and needed a win in a pivotal game against Central Catholic. In a back-and-forth game, the Panthers proved their mettle and secured the upset. While their season would come to an end against State Finalists Prestonwood Christian, their fight never wavered in a season that showed progress towards contention. Go Panthers!
