General Information As an extension of St. Philip’s Episcopal School After School Program, Enrichment classes are designed to complement a rigorous day of academic learning. By providing students with invaluable opportunities to explore, Enrichment classes help nurture students' creative and extracurricular interests. These classes enhance a student's education by bringing new concepts to light or by using old concepts in new ways. Activities are fun for the student, but they also impart knowledge. We offer a myriad of exciting after school enrichment classes for students in Nursery through Fifth Grade. Some of the most popular activities include Soccer, Spanish OlÊ, Irish Dancing, Mind Lab, Gymnastics, T-Ball, Green Monkey Yoga, Tennis Clinic, Running Club, Basketball, Abrakadoodle Art, Cooking with Kids, Sewing Club and Lights, Camera, Showtime. Piano Lessons: for scheduling please contact Mr. Harrell at 305.742.5369 or charrell@saintphilips.net Registration On Monday, January 9, 2012, the Winter Enrichment Semester will begin. Please do not send payment with your registration. An invoice will be mailed to you by the Business Office for the full amount for all Enrichment classes. Remember that registration is on a first come, first served basis. We may need to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. One uniform per student is provided for all sports. Registration deadline is Thursday, November 17, 2011. An after deadline $50.00 late fee will be added to your bill for late registration. No exceptions. Classes will not be made up due to unforeseen cancellations. Enrichment catalogs are sent home before the beginning of each trimester. Refunds $50.00 charge if class is dropped after the first meeting . No credits or refunds are offered after the first week of the season. 4

MONDAY CLASSES ELITE SOCCER TRAINING CO-ED (SRK-5TH) The goal of elite soccer training is to challenge every player to improve his/her skills while having fun playing the world's most popular game. Every session is structured according to a player’s strengths, weaknesses, and developmental needs. The main focus of each session is “Ball Mastery,” which is the foundation of success in soccer. SOCCER LEAGUE GIRLS (1ST-3RD) Take your soccer game to the next level under the expert instruction of Coach Vasquez. You’ll become adept at one touch and two-touch passing, trapping with both feet, redirecting shots and marking your opponent. ABRAKADOODLE ART (N-2ND) This program allows the use of analytical and perceptual skills, along with creativity. Students learn to problem solve, color, pay attention to detail, and build self-esteem. Children learn to draw in a nurturing, positive environment. TENNIS CLINIC (JRK-5TH) Learn tennis with professional tennis instructors at Salvadore Park. Children will learn how to control the racquet and the ball, placement drills, and tactics and strategies for the game. Classes are held Mondays or Wednesdays. GREEN MONKEY YOGA (N-5TH) Time to Monkey around! Green Monkey will now be offering Green Monkey Kids Yoga (a.k.a. Chimps Yoga) for our enrichment program. With their "live in balance" philosophy, Green Monkey yoga classes encourage self-esteem and mind-body awareness without the "competitive" nature of other physical activities. Yoga postures, breathing and relaxation techniques and the deeper concepts of compassion and cooperation are all set to a perfect mix of music - and all add up to a whole lotta Monkey fun! TUESDAY CLASSES PROJECT RUNWAY/SEWING CLUB (SRK-5TH) Children will learn basic sewing skills while making items and clothes they love to wear. Projects include sewing and notions bags, garlands, scarfs, tops, cushions, hats and skirts. There are quite a few different sewing techniques the class will cover. With the easy sewing projects children will learn step by step to build their foundation of sewing expertise. At the end of the session all designers will walk through the “runway� modeling their designs.

HOMEWORK HELPERS (1ST-4TH) Homework Helpers is an after school program designed to assist students with their homework. The program takes place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 3:30pm-4:30 p.m. or 4:30pm-5:30pm. Students who attend the program have shown improvement academically. Students will have the support and appreciate the extra attention. Students will work in a quiet atmosphere with a certified teacher who will check the work periodically. There will be only 12 students max per day, per class.

SPANISH OLECITO (N-JRK) Studies have shown that in order to achieve fluency learning a language from an early age is essential. Younger children are more likely than older children to be fearless at trying out a second language and this makes it easier for them to learn to pronounce words accurately and to speak without translating. THURSDAY CLASSES PLAY, PRETEND, PERFORM (N-JRK) Does your child love to pretend? Like to dress up like a pirate or a princess? Simply have a very active imagination? PLAY, PRETEND, and PERFORM students will engage in imaginative play and theater games to enhance their creative thinking skills. By acting out familiar stories and creating new stories of their own, they will learn story structure and elements. Additionally, students will learn basic theater and performance concepts. LIGHTS, CAMERA, SHOWTIME (SRK-3RD) (Introduction to Theater Art) This class is slightly more advanced than PLAY, PRETEND, PERFORM. Students will still participate in theatre games and imaginative play through stories to enhance their imaginations, but be challenged with more sophisticated material. Students will also work to improve their performance, movement and vocal skills. Additionally, they will be introduced to basic musical theater and the production process. COOKING WITH KIDS (N-5TH) Chef Maria brings this exciting class to us from Cooking with Kids Miami. This program is designed to help students understand the importance of nutrition while learning to eat new foods. Cooking programs benefit children in their development by promoting nutrition and proper food handling, introducing science, math, geography and social skills, and most importantly, kids who get involved in cooking and learn about where foods come from tend to develop healthier eating habits. FRIDAY CLASSES SPANISH OLÉ (SRK-5TH) In today's competitive academic environment, we are all looking to give our kids that additional edge. Meanwhile, global developments continue to increase the demand for bilingual professionals. Why not prepare our children for this from the get-go? Children will interact and use everyday conversational Spanish in a non-threatening and fun atmosphere. RUNNING CLUB (3RD-5TH) On your mark. Get set. RUN! Open to new runners and our previous run club members, students will train once a week learning proper stretching and running form. We will start our training as a group using run/walk intervals to complete a half mile. Runners will then pace themselves, working up to three miles. To close the season, we’ll run a Saint Philip’s 5K and students will receive participation medals when they cross the finish line. Students may also join the Saint Philip’s team at the Tribute to the Military 5K held in Coral Gables on February 5, 2012. ONCE UPON A TIME... WITH MRS. SPACE (N-JRK)
Once upon a time there was a group of bright, bubbly preschoolers in the magical land of St. Philip’s. They got together once a week to listen in rapt attention to an engaging, ageappropriate book read by Mrs. Space. After the story, the enchanted children used their imaginations to participate in special activities together relating to the selected story.
